I just spoke to Greenie. He, MrMaryLou and Yell are without power because of the heavy snow :) They tell them that it may be back on this weekend or next week. So, don't expect to see them online. Greenie, having generators may fire up his laptop and aol account just to post.

I was wearing shorts yesterday while the snow was piling up in Buffalo :)

At 44 degrees it will take a while to melt all of that snow. It snowed here once.

I`m about a half hour or so north of them and luckily got power back a couple hours ago. But it is a mess in the area. Many trees down along with power lines. They did say some people could be out until early next week in the hardest hit areas. Hopefully they get some power back soon!

Greenie told me that a transformer blew up accross the street from his Step-Daughter. A live wire came down in the person's driveway. The morons tried to move the wire to get their car out :)

Just spoke to GG, and reminded him it’s a good thing he doesn’t live in Florida during hurricane season, since you never know when and for how long you will lose power.|hurricane

All are well, they have a generator that is hooked to a gas line so they have power in the house, he will try to get online via dial up soon, but they are saying it could be Tuesday before they get power back.

As for the contest to go to Buffalo in February…. How many will be picking Oakland now?|pokefun| |greenguy|

Having a bit of a cold snap here in southern Alabama, must be around 60 today...

Glad GG has a gas powered generator. We have a gasoline gen. for the hurricanes. During Katrina we had the A/C on, a few lights, T.V. and the coffee maker in the mornings. |coffee

That is scary stuff, glad he has a generator and can keep warm. I wonder how many people are living in that area without generators? That is a long time to go without power in the cold.

Chop Smith, you sound like us, we get snow about 1x a year. :)

Just spoke to GG again, he said MML is on a different power grid and may be 7 to 10 days before MML has power.

It’s times like these makes me oh so happy I live in Florida.

No power down here means we sweat and get very bored but what does one do for heat when there is no power?

That is very very weird. Buffalo got pounded when really is should be in the 40s and 50s. It was nice here in the mid 50s though it is raining right now and maybe 40 degrees at best.

I hope they all get power back soon.

Ramster... blame Canada (http://www.greenguysboard.com/board/showpost.php?p=306073&postcount=16) |couch|

The fact that it was and is probably over 40 is what makes the snow so wet and heavy, causing more damage.

edit: when I watched the news at 6, it was setting up to give them some more, I hope it didn't.

What’s wrong? The generator hooked up to a treadmill?

It's hard to complain about the power being out when most of your house is running off a natural gas generator :)

Even though my neighbors have no idea what my name is, I was a nice guy & ran each of them a cord yesterday morning so that they had some power (I guess the lady that lives next door to me is an 82 year old widow - who knew?)

Yell's house was flooding as soon as the snow started to melt & the generator that he borrowed to get his sump pump running was stopping & starting, so he was pulling his hair out all day.

The duplex that we own down the street from Yell (where my step-daughter lives) had the same problem, but oddly enough, their power came back on around 7, but there's a huge tree down in the yard :(

I spoke to the MaryLou's a couple of times yesterday & they are doing ok. MML figured out about 1/2 way thru the day that the natural gas fire place actually existed & worked, so they have heat :D He ran out & got some supplies & they were mostly just annoyed.

It was really fucking strange driving to Yell's last night in the dark. No lights at all for about 2 miles & then Abbott Rd (where the Bills Stadium is) had power every 1/2 mile - strange to see Yell's house without power, but the duplex 6 houses away was up.

There's still 400,000 without power this morning (we were part of the 20,000 that they got back on yesterday)

I'm supposed to go to the Sabres game tonight, but that's up in the air, so it looks like it'll be a Pool House weekend once again |thumb

Glad to hear you guys are back up and running! I had spoke too soon yesterday, it went out again. I got a gas generator up and running and we got turned back on tonight about 8pm. I guess we are fortunate compared to others who will be out until next week.

My wife is bitching about getting a generator now. The longest ours has gone out here has been about 12 hours in the last 40+ years of me living here.

Yes, but next time it would be 12 hours without power AND with a wife bitching about how she told you to get a generator. How much you wanna bet that's gonna feel like a lot longer than 12 hours?

:D

Although a generator is nice to have, it's not something you are going to use much. My parents got one during the ice storm and they haven't used it since. We were without power for a week and it was damn cold.

I think a generator is one of those things that you wish you had when you need it, but when you have it, you never use it. Kinda like insurance :)

Glad to hear that you guys got your power back!
