I have been hacking away for 7 years now...

I am a full time adult webmaster.

I have never worked for a company.

My internship was a web host that made most of their money from adult web hosting back in 97-99.

I went out on my own in 99....

The best thing I got out of this deal is.................

Working from home and being their for my family.

====================================================
On another note, can't wait for my kids to take care of themselves.

I jumped straight into this full time back in March of this year after about two years researching what I could do online to survive, and learning how to use HTML to build websites. My situation at the time meant working from home was vital.

Sometimes it's closer to 70 hours per week, depending on whatever freaky new idea I've just decided to work on, suddenly ploughing on with this amazing new venture that will probably go nowhere!
I'm sure other folks here can relate to that!
Coffee..coffee..coffee & bad moods.
|loony|

I'm back to submitting freesites today after a few days of tweaking the way I do things and trying to streamline everything.
I HATE not submitting a freesite every day! Who's getting my sales?!!

The daily grind.

I have almost memorize all the link list rules and TGP/MGP rules there are..

I love it when new linklist or TGPs start crazy rules.
Examples... "Only the face can show on the thumbnail"
You can only have two outside links..
You can't used these sponsors...
Hha Hah Ha

Your site must be easy to navigate

Your title must be one inch from the top

You must fart and bow down...

I hate it when small tgps/linklist make stupid rules.

I have seen so many come and go.

I think the + in 40+ is the key :)

Part time since 96, full time since 98, corporation since 2000 (and yes, 2 people does make for a corporation)

I was international secretary of the Green Party of Canada, I'm not anymore, through my choice. Not a big scandal or anything, everyone knows what I do for a living, some think it's cool some don't. I'm still active locally, but not putting 40 hours a week into it anymore.

When you go way back, look at a person's first domain name and add 6 or 8 months. It took that long dealing with only mainstream hosts before most decided to get one. There were no friendly hosts back in 1995.

So, I have been working in my underware fulltime since 11/5/95. First domain registered 7/11/96.

Before that, I had to share a server with 5 other large sites. When I asked about it the slowness, I was told "either live with it or leave".

I've been "40+" since Spring of '98, as VP of an adult web hosting company. I was responsible for doing all the in house web site design, among other things.

I took a lengthy hiatus from adult to tend to some family obligations. My Mom was dealing with a recurrance of cancer and needed help caring for my Grandmother.

I still do a little maintream web design, mostly custom ASP scripting, but my primary income has been adult once again since Fall of '03.

Hubby and I have been full time since September of 2000. Between the 2 of us, we spend about 70 hours a week. 45 for him, and 25 for me. I do have a family to tend to, hehe. A lot of my time is burning dvds. We have always duped our own videos, and dvds. Some weeks that in itself is hard to keep up with! |bananna|

Same here with the 40 PLUS... it's always plus.
Single Dad with 2 boys living with me, and 2 more in college, so working from home was nearly mandatory a few years back.
Though I do a lot of coaching and reffing for the school here. It gets me out of the house, good excercise and I talk to other humans. (though the pay sucks if you figure it out per hour )

For me it started in late 01 but did not start putting in 40+ until about 03 when I started thinking I could make a living doing this, someday it just may happen LOL. Quit full time job 2 years ago so I can really put in the PLUS portion in adult, though lately I am back, in a part time roll, at my old job.

Jim, I am rare and bought a domain name right away. Buying domains is what a couple of friends were doing. Problem is we had no damn clue what we were doing overall and bought stupid domains instead of valuable ones. LOL

I just recently started doing web stuff full time. As long as I can continue to pick up work for other people until my stuff pays me enough to let me work for me exclusively, I just might be able to maintain doing this fulltime. :D

But being a full-time student, who likes to go out on weekends, sometimes it's hard to sqeeze in more then 60 hours a week, so I'm probably not as + as the rest. |loony|

I've never had a "real" job either... and I plan to keep it that way. |bananna|

Part time in 98. Full time since 99 and 40+ for sure. Though I did get burned out/lazy and took a job for a short time. Till I remembered the many reasons why I did'nt like "working" for some one else. Oldest domain, 98.

Played with html and learning how to make sites my senior year of high school which was '98-99. After I graduated I started my first for real site and was making more than I was at my security job by October. Mind you still doing this from my parents house and their computer so I just stuck to bikini/babe sites. Then I moved out got my own place and computer in December '99 and started working all the time and getting into traffic trading and all that fun stuff. By Jan '00 I was making more money than I had ever dreamed of and quit my job in Feb. Things went awesome for over a year and a half, got married in June of '01 and 3 days after our honeymoon I came down sick with some crazy bug in my chest, had 102-104 temperature for over a month straight and eventually took me over 3 months to get completely over it. By the time I was better there was not much at all left and fell on some hard times, completely left the biz in the beginning of '02, but always trying a few things here and there and always looking for way to get back in, during these times I had a few different offline jobs. Then managed to get back into it totally full time again in May of '03. Hours per week vary a lot, this past week I have probably put in over 80 hours, and some weeks I am lucky to even look at the computer everyday. For the last year or so I have been alot better discplining myself to work more so probably put in more hours this year than in any other.

I probably don't qualify because I do put in 40+ hours a week doing this but it's not my fulltime job, atleast not yet (started out March 2006). I still teach english 10-20 hours a week, and also develop software on a freelance basis. Now if I could only get the time to start up that ebay thing... :)

Then again, if we do move to San Francisco next year as planned I might just try my luck in the Silicon Valley instead. Still, I hope I'll always have time to build and submit a freesite a day.

Basically on track to hit six-digits by the end of next year working an hour or so per day.

:D Found the intraweb in 98-99, got a domain and put a snap together porn tour on it. It got some sales, so no laughing.

Then year later doing free sites, a really nice guy called Phil talked to me on a message board, told me about avs, and adult check. GOt side tracked from frees and stuff and went the avs direction....

Money started to fall from the trees, another gold, another grand or two :D , then before u could say holy shit, I was making thousands and thousands a month.

Then quit the day job, girfriend got worried and pissed off cos I was on the pc all the time, thought the intenet was a gimmick and wouldnt last,so we split up for a period as we went our own ways.

Then Fast forward a year or so, bought a little cottage by myself, no bloody broadband, work slows down a bit, got back together with the girl, more sites, more avs, less free sites and SE stuff |banghead| |banghead|

Fast forward another year, bought a house with a view, and acres, wow, was flying high on cloud nine, built a barn on the acreage, and got married and had the reception in it! woohoo, not a care in the world, the webmastering slows down, we have a child, slows down more as I become content with the recurring money thats still coming in |banghead| |banghead|

Fast forward a couple more years, the avs dried up, recurring drops in a heap, have put all the eggs in one basket I realise, and another child is born, even LESS time working and more time playing with the kids, still some recurring coming in, so stupidly still havent seen the big picture |banghead| |banghead|

Fast forward to now, house on the market, cant give the thing away |confused| getting close to not making the mortgage payments, 2 wonderful kids and a lovely (sometimes) wife in tow, all costing a fortune to feed and cloth! working my ass off back peddling, doing stuff I should have been doing all along and reading and trying to find out any little gem that might be buried deep down inside threads |banghead|

Will keep you posted, lots of lessons learnt |banghead| |banghead| |banghead| :D

All you guys that have worked non stop for the last 7 or 8 years, every week, week in week out, you deserve to give yourself a huge fucking pat on the back, if you have kids and family, well u need a medal too )

You must be raking in thousands every week if you have continued to build over the last 7 years, I can only imagine how good that would be lol. They say its never too late though to change, and thats what I'm trying to do, come back from the dead without having to go work for walmart or kmart !

well i did that well not for 7 or 8 years but since i started this bizz, only i dont earn the medal, its my hubby who earn the medal because he lett me do this bizz and he was the one who had to sleep alone in his bed and had to deal with burned food for diner because his moron wife was to busy with her adult bizz while it wasnt needed, but it paid all off, now he got me bac again in his bed and he gets an decent diner:D ....or was it the fact he told me "heay Stu...you promise me already for 4 years you gonna work less in this bizz, so start doing it or i will take your puter away"!:D

Have been earning a living online since '99 with both mainstream and adult business efforts... in and out of the adult side throughout this timeframe, and probably logging about 4-years collectively on just adult. Got back into it after a regrettable 9-10 month leave back in March of this year. It's rare that I ever put in less than 40-hours. Hoping that 2007 will be the start of focusing on only adult.

I've been fulltime for 2 years now, it's been good but I figure the big money in free porn is made by those who have been at it for 10 years or those who want to work 10 hours per day 7 days a week submitting galleries etc. Not me, I'm planning to eventually discontinue submitting and and focus more on search engines and web programming so I've been studying web development/server admin full time this year and doing BASc in IT next year. So it's back to part time for a while here...

Still very far from being able to make a living at it but working to get there. Thank G I did save when I was earning well and that should keep me warm for a while cause I'm seeing no light at the end of this tunnel yet!

It's shaky and uncertain but I'm in heaven cause I can make my own hours and I only answer to myself... |king| Not having to deal with some asshole above me has been a true life-saver!!!

I'm hoping that I'll be in this category one day (it's something that I'm now putting my mind to), but presently I'm working as a consultant (programmer) for a tech firm. I wanted to get an earlier jump on this (like last year), but I've been battling an illness that has been havok with me for more than a year now. Modern medicine has finally gotten me to the point where I can finally pursue activities outside of work once again and my TGP is my first entry in force to this side of things. I'm hoping that I can learn enough from here and my TGP to really go full bore and ditch having to work for others (I'm tired of the endless b.s. that seems to go with it).

I built my first adult site and put it up in June of 1996. By the end of that year I'd quit my day job to do this full time and have done it since then. I've been doing it for over 10 years now, have had numerous employees come and go, opened an office then after a few years said "fuck it" and let everyone work from home, and have made lots of money (wish I'd've kept more of it though). At one time I owned over 1000 adult sites. Now I'm down to around 500. I personally don't work that much on the adult any more, I opened a real world business that drains alot of the adult funds that come in and alot of my time. It'd be funny if my employees in that business knew that their paychecks were covered by porn.

It's interesting to see what everyone does. I started in July with absolutely know knowledge of what i was getting into, have been consistently putting in 40 hours+ a week - And holding down a fulltime "real" job. Just had a month off work and apart from a couple of weeks of travelling (and computer probs) have put 80+ hours in for last two weeks. back to work in a few hours, so it will be down again to 40.
Not really knowing what i was doing to begin with i have had to go back and redo a lot of shit that i wished i had got right in the first place.
Hopefully one day will get to the point it will bring a survivable income - but don't realistically expect that for a couple of years at least - so plenty of hours in 2007!!

I wish I only worked 40 hours/week. I bet my wife wishes that too.
I also think I'm not too smart, been working online for a decade and I'm not yet a millionaire.:(

I started in 1996 and in 2001 moved 'fulltime', aside from some odd college classes I participated now and then.
