Yeah, backups can be a major pain! I really should do them more often though. Most of my stuff is backed up 2-3 times on other boxes on my network. 3 NasLite boxes with 480gB each, plus my main box with 360 gB. Not counting the laptop.

When I do do backups, I use an incremental CD-burner program that keeps adding to the external USB CDRW. When it gets full, I make a copy and drop it in the safety deposit box.

Most of the data I have on the system though is from a client. Partial files from a 4 tB DB. I just grab a couple of 120gB drives when I go to their office, and load them up. One of my machines has a removable hard drive tray, so it's just a matter of pop the drives in and away I go.

The client is setup top end with scheduled backups to tape magazines, and offsite storage at several of the data storage companies nuke proof bunkers.

Right ON you are!

Outlook sucks donkey...! I keep swearing every time I have to rebuild a system I am NOT using outlook...

Lee puffs her chest out with total confidence.

Then the company gives me a laptop and its all configured for outlook...Sheesh, there is no getting around Bill Gates.

So here I am once again with OutSnook but this time I am going to export my email to a backup file.

At least I use Mozilla as a browser :-)

I back up everything weekly.

Been there, done that. (ie lost everything)

Just write a simple perl script to create tar files for each domain.

Then download while you're at the cabin, or simply taking a day off :)
