Aren't the old timers circa '96?

I don't count. I think I was dubbed a midbie because I'm from '98.

But, Ms. Lee Noga is my desktop icon...one of the first faces besides Kath and Marsha I saw at that infamous AWE in Atlanta.

I was in business for three years before showing my face....:)

I have to admit.... she does! |roses|

Why did we all do that? So many of us worked all alone in a corner before "coming out" on the boards/shows. I did a lot of mainstream in '97, didn't do adult until '98 and then didn't find CONDOM Project until late '98. I see that time as time wasted - I didn't really start learning/earning until I began networking on the boards, asking questions and getting reviews from those '96ers.

We were successful before going to shows.

I can't even imagine how much further we would have been had we started networking in person back in '98.

And, there were gaps in my education because we were isolated and alone in our cave.

I'd have to say my biggest regret would be spending so much time constantly tweaking my site instead of going after more traffic, but it seems the traffic just came so I designed and redesigned......till one day I had a cool ass site and a inflated ego and i loved going there to admire my work, problem was i was the last one going there....till one the great providers we had back than sold out and took my domain with them....
Now I think I just come on line because old habits die hard...

It's amazing. Some of us have grown up together.

It wasn't that I was hiding or anything, just in a small circle of friends, most of whom still do not post on boards :D

Kinky 2005-01-20 08:29 AM

does missing pic posts make you an old timer? |rasta|

Renee 2005-01-20 08:37 AM

so close to my birthday, this thread makes me really feel old!

I remember the "gift" for coming up with the best domain names, LOL they were flying all up and down that board.

I was so smart I never tried to get any of them|angry|

I agree with the rest, my biggest mistake was not hiring someone to continue my work, then move on with something new but hell I was happy.. and rich! LOL

I did TRY to hire a couple people but they couldnt/wouldnt/didnt do it like I did so they had to go |loony|

second was turning my site into a cj site, I had dedicated and loyal traffic. But the money was awesome and the net was new and I was getting it while I could cause I just knew it wouldnt last hehehe :p

The surfers would email me saying they found a site that was using my pics (bought from Lee) on their site and wanted to make sure I knew about it and they had permission to do so, even had some surfers volunteer to "take care of them for me" if I hadnt given my permission LOL

which brings me to the one thing that I think has remained consistant. Surfers that can relate to a person/personality will have better quality traffic over ALL the rest. I agree with Lee that blogs are a great tool to add that personality to a site.

and lastly... THANK GOD FOR CRONS!

Greetings and salutations to all!

Ok Lee, you got me out of lurker mode with the old timer remark.

It's a bit ironic to see on the boards now the same issues we discussed back in the OTR days.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Peace,

*blush*....I had not attended an Internext show in years due to CE cutting back how "large" they exhibited. But, actually it made sense to cut back because after so many shows how much more business can you harvest?

Once my pics ended up on fubar this year, some old friends dragged up some old ones from Internext '98 in Orlando...

OMG...what was I thinking with red hair and a mullet! Ya think I should post the 1998 pic and a 2005 pic? Will do only if ya ask me to.

WOW, it is great to see you Renee! It so great to see Colin and Taz! I feel like this is a family reunion without the big sit down meal and dishes!

Concepts born a decade ago are still solid concepts, what has changed is the application.

Pic Posts! LOL.....and I still see folks doing "Pic of the Day" in email. That was such a big deal with surfers the POTD...now its spam.

I still cannot believe I sold "Perverts.com" for 10K in 1997, STUPID!

Jim 2005-01-20 11:53 AM

I have yet to see any real old timer post in this thread :)

OMG, I do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL....

We had some great times way back when, we were all brother and Sisters...and we can still see this bond strong today.

Example, they are raising money for Dokk on another board to go to Jamaica this year, and have been successful. It was our old timer community behind this drive and still in 2005 we look after each other even tho sometimes we feel miles apart.

I miss Asia Carerra on the YNOT board...she was something, and Persian Kitty who never got full of herself in her "Hey Day". The print mags wanted to buy her empire and she did not sell out...and she was so dedicated and remained anchored. I remember when she first showed off her Yacht boat...everyone was WOWEE!

Now who knows how she is...and where she is at., she has partners now etc...maybe she is off living the life she gave up to manager her link site for so many years when she first began.

I miss PushRod and Ro, I miss Janey, I miss Jonathan from Naughty Links [he sold off], I miss Mike Fold, I miss JoeE and RB..I remember when they told me they were starting an affiliate program...now look at those empires.

I remember when Marc De was with Breathless Boys and got into a bad situo on YNOT, was kinda run off, and came back a year later with ARS, and look at the empire...

Gawd, I have seen children in this busines grow up before my eyes and be upstanding webmasters, married now with kids!

I still love it when GG won the Viper from CE!!!

How many miles you have on it GG, less than 500? *wink*

Oldtimer huh... not sure of I qualify or not actually :)

I was a lurker in 96 .. part timer in 97 ... went full time in 98

There has been many changes but I will admit that there is still some great folks in the business! That was one of my nicest surprises when starting out... finding all the good folks out there (even if they did hide a bit) compared to my previous "real world" job.

Just talked to them right before Vegas. I felt bad as they said they would have made plans to go if they knew the wife and I were going to be there but there's always next time :) (They are great folks without a doubt!)

There's been good and bad over the years .... after thinking about it a bit ... there's so much that could be commented on I wouldn't even know where to start... nor would I probably have the time to do the proper follow up. I've made good friends... lost a few good friends... learned a lot which includes learning that the "learning" never stops ... hopefully helped others learn a lot and of course I hope that I'll be able to talk about the good old days in another 8 years as well.

I guess the real reason I posted was to say to "the oldtimers" be it posters or lurkers... you folks have helped us all in one way or another even if you didn't realize it .. so for that, we all owe those folks a thank you! People like Lee blazed the path and opened it up for so many to follow. I'm sure the porn world still would be around today without them but without a doubt... it wouldn't have been the same :)

I hope we all get to enjoy another ten years and more ... best wishes of success to you all.

I think it's 1200 or so. I still remember Meat running down the long hallway to tell me I won because Jim said the drawing was at 3:30 when in reality it was at 3 :D

LOL consider yourself asked! :p

I was amazed at how much you changed from the last "set" of pics I remember and the recent ones!

and as far as the food goes.. it is a bring a plate brunch! I have the tator salad :D

PK and Lee were always my female idols.
(but for some reason for a long time I thought Lee was that little short asian woman in her pics she sold) *ducking*

We don't allow pics to load in threads - slows down the board too much.

I notice one similarity in the before & after pics :D

Lee ponders.

Lee guesses:

a) I am still a female.

b) Gold Lion Medallion and tire chain necklace

c) Still wear glasses.

*snicker*
