A friend of mine, who's repairing computers for other people (for money), recently did that on a computer with a virus, and bloody Windows out-smarted itself: despite the harddisk being freshly formatted bloody Windows XP found the old registry and re-used it for the new installation, so the fresh install was as corrupted as the previous - Great thinking MS!
