I agree with Alex. If you can't make money from something and it's not legal generally, why bother?
|
I will cote Bill Cosby here: " I am not sure what is way to success, but I know what is way to failure....Try to please everybody!"
I like site, beside fact that I couldn't find way to submit site. http://www.joyscape.com/add_site.php . Add site, Suggest site, Submission policy, Linking info....All links just get you on starting point, and I couldn't find form where someone actually can submit link. Am I blind or what ? |

Hello grandmascrotum
---------------------------- What's wrong supporting a nice adult resource like JoyScape? After all, we can only go forward by supporting one another. "Free image and movie galleries" is as the words are meant to be. When a surfer clicks on a listing, they go straight to a gallery page. No intermediate ad pages. If you have enough galleries [in line of the above] we would be happy to add "for women" category for you. Hello guitar riff ------------------- Great... we all need some fun from time to time. Hello RawAlex ----------------- Unfortunately, or should I say fortunately, people don't like to be told. No matter how bad or good, it's always nicer to communicate with people around us in an equal manner. How else we can keep "sweet harmony" urb ----- Thankfully, money is not the only driving force for us at JoyScape. [In general, not specific to the subject at hand] I don't believe submitting to every law THEY throw at us. If it's not fair, will you just accept it and obey or fight to change it for the better. Steamy ---------- Thx. Even though, recently we have tried to improve the submission area, but it looks like we couldn't do it well. We will try to it improve further if we can. When you go to the submission page by clicking on "Add URL" link on the home page, first you need to choose a suitable category for your site to submit to. Once you do this you'll see the submission form. I suspect you were short of time and couldn't read the submission help text on the same page. Perhaps it needs further simplification for busy people like yourself. cheers to all |
Kim, with recips, I was mainly thinking about the time I would need to spend. If I didn't have to do a recip, I could just whip over and add a dozen URLs. Quick, easy, suits my lazy ass methods LOL and it would make me more inclined to add a URL. (My existing sites are hand coded so it would take time to add recips to each site and upload). So that was my motivation for the frivolous no-recip comment. I know that recips help get traffic and it was not meant to be a serious question really.
Thanks for clearing up where Joyscape stands in relation to traditional freesites. I don't do TGP-type galleries so I don't have anything to submit at present :) |

Hi Kim,
|thumb Initial impresion was very nice. Clearly, a great deal of work went into this and your team really sweated the details. How many hours overall would you say went into that site? One suggestion I'd make is to have a couple different style sheets for easy layout changes. Laptops and LCD screens and big monitors are really coming on strong. My webstats show a big spike in very high screen resolutions over the past 6 months. Even at just 1152x864 the text is a bit tiny. It's well optimized for 800x600, but offering multiple text sizing/color combos would be easy and beneficial IMO. I read the previous posts and read this: http://www.joyscape.com/aboutus2.php I think unless one is young and idealistic, the initial thought is where does the money trail go? That's no cheap template site. So, there was a lot of resources human and computer used to make it. Someone is paying to host it, monitor it, operate it..promote it, etc... Forgive some people for being skeptical but it is very rare for someone to put that much resource into something without considering ROI. The fact the site claims to be so altruistic but... "Your listing in JoyScape is totally free but we would require a reciprocal link to JoyScape from your site." ...has me wondering if this is a very smart long term goal to set up a a site with a lot of links, good PR then one day it redirects to one of the 13 other domains on that IP that does sell something. I guess...a lot of us are jaded. I am not stating the above is true in any way at all, but that was the first thing that popped into my head. There is a lot of intelligence and "man" hours in that site but it's not about money. Just things that make one think is all. It's very slick indeed- truly...no sarcasm in that. Has a PFI scheme been considered? If you hand check all the sites like DMOZ, what happens if you start to get dozens of submissions per day...or more? In the rate the site aspect anyone can rate the site, right? So, all the competitiors will say a certain site is bad. The submitter will ask all his friends to rate the site good. :-) I dunno- a lot of things I don't get. If you were agressively searching for sponsors, launched an AdWords and Overture campaign I'd feel things were more..."kosher". Talent is there...potential is there- where's the beef? Good luck though. You're either someone to look out for or...someone to kiss up to with those design skills at hand. |smooch| ;-) |
Hi AW,
I thank you for your valuable in depth feedback. Much appreciated. First of all let me clarify this money business. Of course we all like to get some return for the work we have been putting into it, in terms of monetary and non-monetary areas. JoyScape is a fairly young website. We have to develop and enhance it further. Once it's viable, then we will be looking into various options. However, we will never turn it into a promotion center or a re-direction site. Our overriding goal to provide quality adult resources for the surfers will always remain the same. Of course, running and maintaining JoyScape costs money. We were lucky enough to find some people who has seen the long term possibilites in our ideas. Yes, you are right. We put a lot of work in JoyScape. We do this as a long term investment and everybody is aware that our investment may not yield any result. I'm not saying we are doing everything 100% correctly. No doubt there are shortcomings in some areas. Perhaps, you could be kind enough to give us further guidence especially in the direction of promotions. |
Kim,
I'm a total newbie to the biz. If you're really dead serious you'd hire a consultant who takes to your site and has success in this industry. A track record. Let me ask this: What are some specific goals of the site? Short term and long term? Are you trying to compete with the big boys like sex.com? What is your marketing budget in order to reach the goals of the site? A year from now, how do you and your team envision the site? If money isn't the primary goal then the 'ethical' aspects are and those are personal based on your group. Regardless, you need to market your ass off. If anything, launch an AdWords campaign *just* to jump start your forum. If you can get your site sticky this will help a lot. In particular, if you can get like minded people to join your forum they can spread the word, slap links around, etc... In the end, since the ultimate goals of your site are psychologically based your victory will be personal and only you will know when you have victory. |
We cover all aspects of sexuality - that's the point of a proper search engine isn't it?
