Actually I was doing this part time. I was getting the content from usenet and charging surfers by the month, 6 month, and 1 year. It was kind of a fore runner of the AVS systems developed by others later when the cc companies perfected their billing skills for adult. Which is when I started working adult full time.

Note to Tart: can you find a 'fat ass' smilie like you found the catfight one??

Chop Smith 2006-06-21 07:44 PM

About the nudes? I was referring to Doc Holly's brick house ass.

About AVS, I was referring to your post that implies that you had "kind of a fore runner of the AVS systems developed by others later"

Ok, my mistake for trying to inform. I will now exit quietly.

Are you that senstive?

If I offended you, please accept a public apology.

Honestly, I thought you were uttering more bullshit like your T1 connection and the dedication of a Norte Dame building in your name. I was just playing along.

I guess it's a good thing that you didn't mention anything about his sig saying "Surfn's Links Surfn are you a partner?" for the last year and none of us bothered to tell him that the old ~username~ trick doesn't work correctly for non-mods.

Good evening.

From here on out, anyone posting sarcastic comments will be banned for 7 days.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have a jazz band waiting for me at my hog roast.

I guess my first sale was from a long defunct AVS since the only other way to make money was pay per Click. Nobody really started out counting signups.

Again, using the first and only AVS was nice. I started using it 2 months before Christmas back in 96 or 97 and the one site ended up paying for Christmas that year. :)

damn, how old are you people, all i here is 93, 96,98. i was thnking that people in this bussines is about 20-35 years old, damn how wrong my first impression was ..:)

What would this world be like without sarcasm? :) No late night comedy. Hell, no comedy period. Sometimes sarcasm is the only way to get a point across.

And, sometimes, people tell us such big lies that sarcasm is the only answer. :) It a better way to keep people in check than to say, "stop fucking lying to us please". :)

And Magix, my youngest Daughter just turned 18. My oldest Son is 25. This is not a "would you hit it" type board. Most of us have seen everything and it would take something truly bizarre to even make us look twice at any picture. And even more, an awful lot of us have only been working in this business for many years. There are a couple of people on this board that have been in this business longer than me (10 and a half years). But most people that claim it deserve a little sarcasm :)

The 10 year anniversary of the Link O'Rama is right around now - I didn't buy the domain until late 97, but the site has been named that since 96 :)

Chop Smith 2006-06-22 08:19 AM

I am 18.

My first site went up in March of 2002.

My oldest son in 39, Bo is 37 and my daughter is 34

Well at that time no, not as affiliates anyway.

My first 'sale' in late '97 was from a pay site.

I had a friend with an amateur webcam site with his wife. She did live shows a few times a week. Still jpeg images captured from live video, uploaded at 10 to 15 second intervals. That's about how long it took to capture and upload each image. Streaming video was just becoming a viable option tech-wise, but video server providers were few, rather expensive, and were separate from site hosting.

He was getting frustrated finding affordable adult hosting, video hosting, payment processing, etc. that all worked together without major security leaks. Thats how we met actually, I hacked into his site, then told him how I did it.

He and I and another friend got to chatting one night and a "what if we could" turned into a small adult hosting company with in house video server, chat server and membership processing. In addition to hosting sites for a fee, we built cam sites for amateurs that didn't have the web skills and took a percentage of the sales.

So, my first 'sale' was a sign-up to one of those cam sites. I don't even recall the domain names now.

[edit]Oops, almost forgot. Magix, I took my first programming course in 1977 as a senior in high school. My 46th birthday was last month.[/edit]

Magix 2006-06-22 09:20 AM

:)) I feel so young now :))) well i'm 21 :)) in april was my first visit to casino :)) i was waiting for it about 4 years, and it's a catching thing :))) and i get some profit 10 times more of it :) we got there with about 20$ and get out with 200$ :)))

and my sale is in the future, though i predict it will be in two weeks ( i think ) |greenguy|

I can remember meeting a few people in New Jersey just after programs started switching from Clickthroughs to Signups. We were as outraged as much as recent times when programs started counting signups that stayed instead of just straight signups.

And, we had the same arguement..."it's not our problem what a surfer does once we send them to the program".

JustRobert 2006-06-22 10:37 AM

First sale was 2 weeks after I started about 4.5 years ago. Was doing tgp and I did not know a thing about html. Someone showed me basics about thumb crop, dreamweaver and who to submit to. After that all on my own. But it was a fun hobby at night/weekends after a mortorcycle crash left me not able to ride for awhile. Went full time couple years back. I think it was easier to get sales when I started. Not so many programs to choose from.

Like Jim, my daughter is the youngest at 18 with 2 sons being 21 & 22 both at college.

Yep, there were a lot of people who's first time at making money was with Ultracash. But those were the days when it was ok to use a billing system that truly cascaded. It would try to bill through DMR, if it didn't go through, it went to Epoch, if that did go through, it went to ABM (thieves) and if that didn't work it offered checks online and then checks through the mail. All that and paying $50/free trial signup must have been sweet :)

puck 2006-06-22 02:29 PM
