I much prefer revshare. Would rather take less upfront and hope for a signup where the member forgets about his credit card charges for a year or 2. ;)

mist 2006-09-11 09:28 AM

I like the per-signup option because that way I get the money right away, instead of having to wait for 2-3 months. Of course I loose on it if the referred member will stay for a longer period of time, but I believe that it’s just such a small percentage that will stay longer than 3 months, so it’s not worth it.

I've been using almost exclusively revshare because as a noob I wanted the immediate income vs. the long term. I assumed the sponsors pretty much know what payout on pps is going to equal the expected payout for revshare. They're not going to give us an edge either way. (Funny how most $4.95 trials pay $30.00-$35.00) They must know something. As I see it, the only way a webmaster gets an advantage either way is if he/she is better at pushing one program or the other. When I compare the cost of a three day trial to a burger and fries, it gets easy to push the pps. I'm going to start using revshare for a while and see if I can sell it and watch my stats and see how I do.

I use a lot more pps than revshare. I like the instant money coming in every month! I am working a little more revshare in though.

Okay, I'll bite... how much more money do you make from PPS than revshare? :D

emmanuelle 2006-09-11 03:50 PM

While we're running a revshare program, when promoting others I prefer to use PPS.

We really focus our business around retention, but part of me does not trust others to do the same, so I feel more secure in the upfront payment.

Thats why I like programs that only have revshare. I assume they are trying to focus on retention. This is also the reason if a program gives me the choice between the two I choose PPS.

Greenie, I'll bite as well. Just give a percentage. 20%, 100% or more :D

Jeremy 2006-09-11 11:46 PM

PPS predominantly.

Finding the RevShare programs that make over $30 / sign-up is a real bitch.

docholly 2006-09-12 09:09 AM

Like Toby I mainly promote single girl programs..so it is much more advantagous to be in rev-share since single (indie/solo) girls who run their own sites tend to have, in my opinion, better retention equally more $$ in my pocket.

Agreed, although I do have a couple of revshare sponsors that do $30/sign-up.

High $$/sign-up is nice, but I'm really more concerned with $$/click and total $$.

If we were doing this properly, we'd be talking about $made per unique visitor to your site / unique ad view :-))

I see in your sig you run some niche stuff.... do you find revshare retains longer / makes more money in those niches?

The other major bug I have with revshare is that it transfers the Retention Risk onto me... frankly, I have enough to worry about! LOL.

neticule 2006-09-12 09:57 PM

revshare for sure :) Those times where I need to take off for a couple of months arent hard to handle with rebills. If you pick the right sponsors, revshare will make you more money over the long run for sure. Just yesterday a member from ATK rebilled for the 46'th time, ive made damn near 700$ on that one guy in the last 4 years, which IMO is alot better then just a quick 35 bucks.

I usually dump sponsors if their rebill rate drops below 25-30%, anything above that and you make some good money a few months down the road.

Linkster 2006-09-13 07:38 AM

The problem with revshare that Ive experienced - and this is what some have alluded to already - is that if you actually do the calculations with a per visitor sent and per click, the money actually works out better with PPS - by a long shot.
Not dissing o anything, but if you have a member that made $700 for you over 4 years, how does that average out over total clicks sent to the sponsor - every calculation Ive done on both mine and the way GG has his stats, it sure seems that we are making double the money on PPS.(at least - and in some revshare sponsors ten times as much than using a comparable revshare sponsor)

JustRobert 2006-09-13 11:27 AM

I agree with you Linkster even though I prefer ccbill sites. I have done a quick comparison and would have made far more money if they would have been PPS. Problem is that I have always had a hard time selling the cookie cutter looking pps sites. When I started I was only pps with a few big programs. But as soon as I started selling ccbill sites I actually had more sales and made more money plus the rebills were a bonus. Why? Not a clue. Same paid content, same tactics and submissions to the same places. Then these sponsors offered quality free content and sales improved even more. I know I suck at this but that has been my experience for the past 5 years. Guess I will alway be a newbie :)

Yeah I guess... just like Miami, Boston and Seattle :D

scottybuzz 2006-09-26 04:03 PM

Solo girls pps, all the time!

Other porn pps (but sites like bangbros which i know have gazillions gb of content i use revshare)
webcams pps, because of the mental prices they are giving at the moment.

I maybe starting in this biz, but the amount im getting from revshare is good enough for me :)

ynuahayt 2006-09-27 09:27 AM

I love the concept of revshare but like most others I've found that the rebills are just not happening at the rate they should for it to be worth going for.
