There's never a way for me to not come off like an ass when I post something like this, but you might want to look into promoting sites to people that speak your native language until your English skills are just a tad bit better.

ponygirl 2007-01-27 10:13 AM

Samoseks, I think (hope) you learned something here ;)

about your sites - here's a little tip on blind links:

"REAL SOCCER FANS IN DIRTY HARDCORE MATCHES!
CHOOSE YOUR FAVORITE TEAM"
that is blind because the surfer has no idea that he is going to a pay site, that it's even a porn site. In my mind, you could be sending them to a bookie, for all that link says.

the banner at the bottom "SCORE YOUR GOAL" - same thing. Where does that link go? Surfer has no idea till he clicks it.

"THE ONLY PLACE TO SEE GENUINE PORNO - FOOTBALL CULTURE AT IT'S BEST: UK SOCCER BABES" - ok, I wouldn't consider this one blind, it's the only non-blind link on the entire site.

A link has to let the surfer know a) that he's leaving your site and b) where he's going to end up.
think "SCORE YOUR GOAL at UK SOCCER BABES" and you'll be on the right track.

build some good sites, stay under the radar and let some time pass.

http://www.pornhitz.com is running smooth and nearly all of those other lls on that "blacklist" are good.

I already do that. Only few percent of people in my country have credit card. They pay by sending SMS from they mobile phones. Last year I have over 700 signups but I earned only 250 dollars (yes, I need almost 3 signups for 1$). I know that english is my weak point and will start taking english lessons next week.

Thank you Ponygirl. VERY useful tips. I though that only banners with nudity (without sponsors name on it) or with "click here to enter" or "more free porn" are blind links. I'll be more careful next time.
And yes, I learn something today. I'm just not sure will I survive this lesson :) I'm afraid that many people here put big red X on my nick in their bookmarks :(

I think it was the general tone of the original post that pushed my buttons. But, it's been a bitch of a past couple days...so perhaps those buttons are a bit more easily pushed than usual.

In any case, Samoseks...I can understand one opening their mouth and inserting both feet. I've certainly done so more times than I care to remember.

From your follow up posts, it's pretty clear that your intentions don't coincide with how the post was interpreted by some of us.

So, no worries here man |shake|

On the subject of blind links...here's an excellent thread on the subject...

Blind Links and How to Avoid Them

Once you get your english skills tightened up a little and take care of the blind links, you should get listed in a lot more places. Some of the link sites on your list send great traffic.

Added: Forgot to mention... debauchery is way behind on reviews, but also well worth waiting for the listing :)

Beenie 2007-01-27 03:25 PM

If a submitter is not getting listed or hits from certain lists there are some things you can actually do about it
- look at the sites you submit and see if any changes can be done
- email the webmaster and ask (in a nice way ofcourse) what's up
- post a link to one of the sites at GGJ for a review / pointers

I'm glad to hear that. I understand your point. You are dealing with tons of assholes and cheaters every day and with post like that I look like one of them. I was just stupid enough to believe that everyone will understand my sense of humour.
It's time for me to stop saying "sorry" and "I apologize" before someone accuse me for ass kissing ;) |cheers|

It's one thing to keep a list of who you will & won't submit to - hell, everyone does this.

But it's really bad to post a personal blacklist that is based solely on your opinion in public. Unless you really got screwed over by a LL for one reason or another, there's no need to bash them because you didn't get listed or the traffic was not what you expected it to be.

I think you lost some friends with this thread. Might be time to do some damage control.

the correct answer he should have said. "I am a dumbass and don't know what I am doing. will some of you kind webmasters from ggandjim help me out"

and of course he should have added "hey useless warrior, I am in the same merlot of the month club as you"

just my 2 cents worth

Everything he said :) Humour doesn't always come through when going from one language to another. Mr Yum beat me to the punch with that link, it's well worth bookmarking and referring to until you get non-blind links down to a tee |thumb

You really need to analyze your sales and not just your traffic. A link list can send you 10000 hits and generate ZERO sales. Another link list could send you 100 hits and produce 2 sales.

I'll take quality traffic over quantity traffic every day.

Just my 2 cents. :)

Danielle

Hi Samoseks, my LL http://www.online-sex-place.com/ isn't big at the moment, but I think, that it could send more than 15 hits :D You can try it by yourself ;)

Read that post, then read it again. Nice post Danielle, to the point of more than likely being ignored by most. That's when ya know a post is good by the way lol ;)

People, especially small linklist owners, often say this, but I've never seen it in my stats.

When I analyse my sales, the pattern is clear. The linklists that send the most traffic also produce the most sales.

You might be able to legitimately make the "extra sales" argument about small link list traffic, but to say the traffic is better - that doesn't make logical sense and it has never been a pattern in my own stats.

You could say that's because I don't submit to a lot of little linklists, but I don't submit to a lot of little linklists because I've often analyzed my sales and I've clearly seen that most sales come from a limited number of linklists.

I say it doesn't make logical sense because (1) it's more likely for the bigger linklists to have taken better positions on serch terms for SE traffic and (2) the bigger linklists get the first tastes of traded traffic, by the time traded traffic reaches the little linklists it's been sold to several times already.

The "extra sales from small LL traffic" argument holds up, the "better sales from small LL traffic" doesn't, in my experience.

Bill 2007-01-31 02:33 PM

I also think that saying Samoseks is an asshole or offender in some way because he dared to use the holy word "Blacklist" is prety specious.

So, if a freesite submitter dares to use the holy word Blacklist, which only linklist owners are allowed to use, then he should be blacklisted, right?

You guys don't see the irony in that at all?

I think the idea of a freesite submiters blacklist for linklists is a good one. It should be easily and publically available information - how fast a linklist reviews, how many sites are accepted, and how many linklists are too uptight to be worth subbing to.

The past few years, when every freesite submitter was guilty until proven innocent, and linklists went crypto and hid wether or not a site was accepted and why, haven't been a sustainable model for this business.

I actually like the idea of that. If it wasn't for the fact that I'm not a mass submitter, I'd build one. :D

Again, I agree. In my eyes, all the traffic at link lists, whether big or small, is about the same quality. My strategy has always been to submit to the heavy hitters and my own couple of small lists. Part of me thinks the folks who submit to more than 40 (or so) lists are nuts, part of me applauds the effort. My submit list is admittedly even smaller.

From my point of view it looks quiet the same but... I've noticed that if a 1-2 years old FS sends a sale, most times it is reffered by mirror page without any huge LL recip. On the other hand I must say that in times it was allowed to submit multiple doorway pages like warning.htm, warn.htm, enter.htm etc. these pages were showing up in SE and not the main doorpage index.htm which was submited to biggest LL (I actually didn't and still don't understand why but it may have something to do with that.)

Personally I belive its really worth submitting to smaller LL but since I'm submitting all by hand I'm just to damn lazy and quit doing that long time ago |yawn|

But if someone uses RoboForm or some other utility it doesnt take much to submit another 50 or 100 LL (the main problem is to keep your recip tables up to date...)

There is likely a buck or two in that idea besides its merits for submitters.
Submitters are always looking for content and sponsors, it would be a great place to advertise sponsors, content suppliers, software, etc. or an excellent addition to any webmaster resource site.

Danielle 2007-02-01 12:46 AM

Bill,

I am not saying submit to small sites only. I am saying submit to the sites that send you the most sales.

Let me add to my example.

Site A sends 10,000 hits and zero sales.
Site B sends 9,456 hits and sends 5 sales.

Site B will get my submits and site A will not.

Now in another niche, Site A may send more sales then Site B. So the reverse could happen also.

Hugs,
Danielle

Very good point Danielle. One thing missing from that equation is the ever changing serps. What works today may change tomorrow with a search engine update. I try not to over analyze. I take a handful of the bigger lists (that will list my type of sites) and mix em in with smaller lists that I found on this boards resources page and hope for the best.

Recently I seen a post from a link list owner about a certain niche (latina) and wondering if it made that many sales. The ironic part, I had just made two sales from being listed on this persons link list. You just can not predict where a sale will come from. :)
