Speaking again of Healthcare in the US. I just got back from the pharmacy and instead of having to pay my $10 copay, I had to pay $124. I called my insurance company and was told that they paid for most of the cost but, I hit the $300/year maximum. Something I didn't even know I had. I just finished reading my insurance policy closely and there it was. When I bought the insurance I was asked if I was taking any medication and at the time I wasn't. The sales person told me that this policy would be perfect for me. So, my mistake I guess. Not really the point. :)

The point is, I totaled up what all my meds would cost/month and it came to about $300. I just went to Canadadrugs.com and ordered 3 months of the same medication for $218. A difference of $682 over a 3 month timeframe. Being a Disabled Veteran I will take this next 4 months to get all medication from now on for free. But, no wonder older people go without food to pay for medication.

Is medical insurance expensive over there? we can buy it here for private health care but it can work out an expense for the average person.
Retired people on state pensions get free pescriptions and so do people on benefits and the rest of us pay £6 per item.
Veterans in my opinion should get things free, they tend to get a rough deal here too especially with PTSD.

The medication I am on runs at just $800 a month for the generic equivalent and I am currently 'un-insurable'

Spaz, check out Canada. I really couldn't believe the savings. And, consider joining your chamber of commerce. Most are treated as large employers by insurance companies and the employees (You or me) can slip through the insurance plans. I once got an employee insurance after she was diagnosed with cancer.

Bob, good health insurance is expensive here.

A family in the USA can expect to pay $1,000 a month for health insurance. That's almost that average monthly mortgage payment ($1,200) and at the current rate will certainly be more then people pay for their homes within a few years.

In most states if you get cancer or something the insurance company can't cancel you but they can raise your rates to any number they choose. Basically they can raise your insurance premium to $1,000,000 a month if they want. If you're on a group plan they have to raise the rates for the entire group so being part of a larger organization is helpful.

I'm kind of surprised at this, i had 2 ops last year with a bit of a wait in between so i was living on tramadol (morphine) and antibiotics but because i was unable to work, i got them free.
If i hadn't then i'd of been in deep shit as i'd of been climbing the walls in pain and probably ended up (without the antibiotics) with something alot more serious.

By the way, i've read about canadian pharmacy that it's not to be confused with "mycanadian pharmacy" which is an online scam.
