Morning all. Going to be sorting out some coding stuff and then going to make some phone calls to figure some stuff out.

Probs later will take a nap as for some reason I just didn't sleep well last night. Might have to do with the drinking I did last night at the game. Not really hung over just really tired. |huh

happy hump day.

|hurricane As my "Over the Hump in Pahrump" Pal, RedCherry said..we are having high winds in the desert. 45MPH right now. and some |angry| idiot started a brush fire on the 1 road between us. Last news report was about 4-6 days for containment. |hotjump|

Not much planned today other than working and then around 4pm.. have to get ready for the private showing at 5 of the new Indiana Jones movie @ the Palms. I hope they are not serving worms, snake or monkey brains.

did i ever mention that Camgirls are flakes?? |banghead| and yet i keep believing in them..

|greenguy| I was coming to post what Simon Sez.. brown paper bag and hot iron works wonders.

Have a good one.. and Happy Humping Day. |thumb

It's very possible. I have OSX and the only things I have installed on it are Firefox, BBedit, MS Office and Adium. When I discovered that Firefox on the Mac won't refresh my script correctly after making an entry, it basically became my travel or web-browsing only notebook.

I've had Firefox crash 3 times this year (probably about 20 uses) to the point where it locks up the entire system and I have had to power it off.

I have no idea what's going on with it. |huh

Firefox3 on mac adds new challenges to the day. After 20 hours or so of the browser being open, images stop loading properly. CSS breaks in new ways, pages look different. And, some sites refuse to even load..... at first I figured it was pipelining, but, by default, pipelining is off. When you type in the url bar, it is now case insensitive, and, much nicer. The del.icio.us plugin works a little differently -- not better or worse, but different.

But, as yet, haven't had it lock up the machine (nor any other mac app)

Preacher you really need to visit your LL in Safari while you are in Mac hell.

You may have bad memory or something on your Mac if it is locking up. Are you getting a kernel panic with the dialog coming up in a bunch of languages or is the curser just freezing? I never run MS Office instead I use NeoOffice since it is free but I do run with a lot of programs open all the time.

What is up with the two of you and Firefox?

I run two copies of Firefox at the same time all the time and it never gives me any problems at all.

I do use Safari as my main browser so maybe that has something to do with it???

cd34 2008-05-21 03:11 PM

I'm using firefox3-rc1 -- not firefox2 Though, I will probably go back a version.

When firefox2 was released, some of their default settings broke on networks using ECN.... so, sites like cisco.com and ebay.com and a few others were not accessible until firefox2-rc2 switched a default. I just figured it would be good to test things ahead of time to see what breaks (and I did find quite a few css issues in a few sites we're developing).

I like Firefox for doing reviews and geek type stuff. I also like that you can open multiple copies of it by just duplicating and clicking instead of using the terminal. Also unlike opening multiple copies of Safari (open -n /Applications/Safari.app) each copy can have its own personality but for just everyday browsing, like right now, I use Safari.

Still can't image why it is taking down Preacher's system.

I was downloading the FF 3.0.RC1 today and it is pretty fast.. I still have 2.0.0.14 installed and there are a few progs open like icq, suitcase, textedit and transmit. All this on a 3 yr old mini mac with 1 GB ram.

I have to try and run both foxes lol not that makes much sense. I hate safari personally.

PS
I cannot run the two versions of FF at the same time, the error message reads: a copy of Firefox is already open.

PS2
sorry for the typos, I have become fluent lately.

And still, it works with rugs too just put something under it |greenguy||waves|

Okay, fine, what I meant to say was put an old shower curtain on the floor, then coat her liberally with oil first, then all the hot wax you want to spill, followed by a nice mummy wrap with some cling film. Turn the heat lamps on for a few minutes and when you unwrap her the wax will just fall off.

Wait... what was your question again?

:D

Thank you, that's exactly what I am seeing, but I don't have it on for twenty hours straight. I browse for an hour and then close it without shutting it down then go back to browsing later. I have experienced everything you mentioned above, especially the pics not loading thing that had me very confused because it wasn't even showing that a pic should be there on the page when I knew it should. :)

The curser just freezes. I haven't had one come back to life and I honestly have no idea if you can kill apps through some kind of task manager so I end up having to turn it off.

Oh, and I did try my script with Safari and had the same issues. My brother-in-law changed my script to work with Firefox on the Mac by changing the way it refreshed and it was working, but I think the update to Firefox broke it again which makes absolutely no sense to me. :(

Hold down "Command Option Escape" to bring up the task manager.

You can also open it from the Apple menu but if the front most application is not responding then this way often will not work but "Command Tab" will switch between running applications.

I like to leave my Activity Monitor open on my second monitor sorted by cpu usage. You can force quit from this too.

Maybe the newer version has been made more compliant with the Acid Test.
