Yeah - Good Luck Toby

Toby 2008-09-11 07:46 PM

Well, everything outside that wasn't nailed down has been removed from the yard. We have gas for the generator and propane for the gas grill. Bring it on!

Oh, and Greenie. The Texans game has been moved to Monday evening.

Pagan 2008-09-11 10:05 PM

Toby (and anyone else coastal), it looks like we are going to be in the clear out here. The traffic along 71 has been killer all evening, but we have room for y'all out here in the Hill Country. If you stay put, I am pulling for you, and hope you have a smooth, safe ride.

ladydesigner 2008-09-11 10:38 PM

We're getting ready to hunker down here at the house. I've got poptarts and water!|thumb

Hope you are not in a low area. Stay safe. |waves|

Toby? Dead yet?

(pokes with stick)

SirMoby 2008-09-12 12:52 AM

Toby I know that you have plenty of high heeled thigh high boots and you've been looking for the right occasion to wear them but I don't think this is it.

Get out!

elKabong 2008-09-12 06:55 AM

Wow, one helluva headline on CNN... |shocking|

Warning: Texans face 'certain death' with Ike

If he hasn't replied yet, Toby should be okay unless he tried SirMoby's suggestion and fell off some of that extreme footwear. :D

Ike's projected to impact Texas' coast sometime Saturday morning so inland where Toby (and ladydesigner?) is/are located probably isn't feeling that much yet, though it is a big (wide) storm. But I hope anyone closer to the coast is on the way somewhere else already.

Projected water-level rise from storm surge through Saturday in attached pic. Those "innundation/destruction" terms are pretty strong.

Anyone else down in that area?

Toby 2008-09-12 02:20 PM

Thanks y'all for the concern. We're just getting a light breeze at this point, won't see the brunt of the storm until later this evening.

Cleo 2008-09-12 02:22 PM

Are you wearing your high heeled hurricane boots?

If I'm reading this correctly, Toby is SW of Houston & it looks like the eye went just NE of the city. Not that 20 mph less wind speed is anything to cheer about when you're talking hurricanes.

YESTERDAY!?!?!?! It made landfall about an hour before you fucking posted!

lassiter 2008-09-13 11:26 AM

Good luck Toby - it sounds really bad down there. |shocking|

Here in Austin, 180 miles inland, we have some wind, but it looks like the whole thing took a NE turn and is gonna pass us up completely - not even any rain at this point, which is kinda bad for us 'cause we could use a few inches of precipitation.
