I have CNN on now, watching the huge crowds that have been gathering on the Mall in Washington, DC since way before dawn today.

Cleo - hope all goes well and the recovery goes quickly too.

Wishing a most excellent day to all...unless of course you're a terrorist-supporting, hate-mongering, war-loving asshole... in which case fuck you.

Okay I feel better now.

:)

RedCherry 2009-01-20 11:36 AM

Morning all. Just turned on the inauguration, wow do they look cold. But how cool...so many people who have showed up. Now the real work begins to turn this country around.

|bananna| Happy New Year!!! |bananna|

Both RugDawg's Dad and I were on the phone crying as we watched. Neither of us ever thought this day would come.

It's not only a passing of government offices, it's a passing of the old way of doing things and embracing the new and different.

and apparently Hats are back!!!

I was thinking that when Cheney got close to the Lincoln bible it would be Spontaneous human combustion.

Have a good one.. and Welcome to a New Day!!

JustRobert 2009-01-20 12:49 PM

Good Morning :)
Watched history and now its time for work.

Greenguy 2009-01-20 03:39 PM

I liked how CNN kept giving us important facts, like:
FACT: Aretha Franklin is singing Let Freedom Ring
I would have thought it was a lie, even though I was seeing & hearing it!

I then fell asleep once I realized he was Prez at Noon, regardless of if he was sworn in or not.

Torn Rose 2009-01-20 04:55 PM

We had been watching ABC until the local ABC station switched to the local news since our Gay Mayor of Portland is evil and fucked a 18 year old male intern before he was mayor and lied about fucking him, so now we are buried in bullshit "news" instead of the real story, so we switched to CNN.

Why won't Wolfie shut the fuck up?

bluebrit 2009-01-20 06:23 PM

Hi all. Well Emmy and I got home from Twiceshy's at 4am only to find we had to dig our way onto the drive as our home town had another foot or so of snow while we were away enjoying her hospitality. We both learned a lot while visiting her and want to thank TS for being a great host :)
Now I'm going back to bed to catch up on some sleep before getting started on a whole new project as if I didn't have enough to do already!

I saw some of the ceremony south of the border and wish you all the best with you're history making new president |thumb
Interesting times are ahead :)

digifan 2009-01-20 09:01 PM

Hehe.. sure is good to see a "passing of the old way of doing things" - let's hope Obama can succeed with his ambitions/plans and is supported in doing this, get some cred back and do something actually useful for the US (the last regime seem to have spent 8 years on everything from non-constructive to destructive).

There is much goodwill, not just in the US, but globally for the new administration. They sure deserve a fighting chance to implement a new day!!

Just make sure the lad is well-protected and has his ass covered - there are too many warped weirdos around and doubt the US could afford a repeat of history at this time.

Happy Inauguration Day and a brighter future ahead |thumb

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

What a great day for TV.

Hope everyone had a good one!

I'm disappointed the swearing-in ceremony didn't have any actual swearing:
"Get the fuck into that oval office!!"

Aretha's hat was funny and I wish there hadn't been any religiousness to the ceremony. Also, I thought Aretha was singing "God Save the Queen." It seems to have the same tune. Can you guys tell this confused Aussie what the deal is with that song?

Beyond that: Yay Obama.

Aretha's hat is a tradition of the African American woman, especially church going women. One of my favorite traditions....being wanting to get that book for awhile.

I had to Wikipedia America the Beautiful, I couldn't remember if the music to that was borrowed....but it wasn't according to them. But it was actually the Star-Spangled Banner that was set to a British drinking song.

Ms Naughty 2009-01-21 01:28 AM

You got me Wikipediaing.
This is the song: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Country,_%27Tis_of_Thee and it is a the same tune as God Save the Queen. How interesting.

I knew we borrowed for one of our songs....but for life of me I couldn't remember which one. I hadn't thought of that song in long time. :)
