Think about the last few Vegas shows that you've went to - did you really need the badge?
The floor is not what it used to be, the badge itself does not get you into any parties as everyone's gone the route of the "party pass" It serves no purpose what-so-ever. I doubt I'll even be getting one this year :D |

In Miami this year, I about got into it with the Badge-Nazis at the Westin. The fact I was a paying guest of the hotel wasn't enough. You had to show the room key AND the badge. |

Moby, actually - no. The requirement to get a room was to be part of the internext group. Failure to have a badge made you not part of the internext group, which means you obtained the reservation through fraudulent means (you claimed to be part of a group that you then refused to be part of).
I don't think the hotel or AVN would be on the hook at that point - people booked and showed up knowing it was a "hotel takeover". I think AVN learned something from Miami. The hotel was not a sell out (rooms were available 2 days before the show book direct with the hotel), and the attendance for the event was down overall. The show at Mandalay was such a screw up that it taught people to work without badges. Huge numbers of people spent their day hanging out in the middle bar and in the hallway leading to the show. No need to pay AVN $X for a badge if seeing the show floor isn't in your plans. Now, this time, the "internext" badge will (apparently) also get you access to the video show, so there is some additional value. But if the badges are still $300, then I will have to make other arrangements. Paying for a badge at that price is truly outside the realm of "value". Alex |
I think I'm going to apply for one of those free "Press" badges just to see what happens. Hell, this site is for webmasters & I'm sure I could write up an article on my show experience.
Maybe I'll have a contest to get badges for "contributing editors" as well :D |

I can be a contributing Editor. |thumb Can mine say "Pull", instead of Press, with an arrow pointing down? |
$170 to walk the floor my ass!
Media Registration Coming Soon |thumb |
I had a press pass for the AVN show last year. It's amazing how differently one is treated, as well as the swag they give you -lol
|
Last year the show floor was small. I took me longer to walk to the floor then walk the floor.
I need to become an editor |

Generally just a reference that can be checked. If you claim to be affiliated with a magazine, they may want you to fax a copy of your article & byline, or a phone number of someone that they can confirm this with.
I received mine from the camera crew that was following me around last year. They simply added me to their roster. Maybe Alex can designate you his 'muse' and you can piggyback on his xbiz credentials |cool| |
Hopefully 2.5 years of "news" from this site will be good enough - lol
|
not sure if anybody cares, but I may show up this year.. finally! ...

Oh - back to the original topic of this thread - I will probably do something in conjunction with other board members as far as a get-together of people from our little community & I'll be starting a list of who's going & whatnot in December & being the asshole that I am, I'll probably base who I invite on how many posts they have :D

Danny LOL - did sound a little "familiar" :)

Every time we begin to discuss Internext, I want to go. But each time, as the thread grows, I am reminded of the reasons I have never bothered to go before. I really hate spending money on stupid shit, especially when I could invest that money into my house or something important, like a bigger tv.

Useless - it really is a good time - sorta like my Pool House without Jim :D |
Useless I have been to Vegas Internext 2 times and honestly unless you gamble and really like to gamble, it may not be worth going to. Yes you get to meet a lot of people and yes there’s always a good party, but weigh that versus the $3000 to $5000 it will cost.
We was going to go, but we decided we would much rather save our money and spend it on a 2 week vacation to the Pacific Northwest in May, I know I will spend less then half in 2 weeks in the PNW then I will spend in 4-5 days in Vegas. That’s my opinion on it, but if you do go, no way in hell would I spend a dime on anything with AVN especially the floor passes, so not worth it. |
Jim's posting using Torn's username again.

That was being hurtful....

I go through this every time, but that is probably due to my mental instability. Part of me wants a floor pass because I've never seen the floor, but I keep hearing that it isn't worth it. So, if I can avoid paying for a pass that will gain me nothing, I won't get one. I'm also afraid that I'll spend three days in my hotel room watching tv because I won't know where all the fun people are. Well, I know where GG will be - gambling along with DrB. (Just a guess) Sandy wants me to go pretty badly, but that has to do with her feeling guilty for being there right now without me. |
DrB will be with me, but only because he's sleeping on my floor :D
Since you don't have a cell phone, you'd be the last one anyone called (if they even bothered to call) so you might as well stay home with your pal Jim |thumb |

You'll be able to find me in between the chain smoking hooker and the drunk that can barely speak English and hasn't had a proper shower in 4 days. |pimpin |
I've played $5 & $10 Black Jack at The Venetian during Internext & AVN

As far as I know, most casino's raise the minimum's at night - even the ones up here do that.

I need you Useless! |lovers|

I look forward to meet alot of you in January, should be fun!

Im not sure how many people Ill have on the floor sleeping :)
Useless - I think it is worth it to go to the floor once in your life - of course in Vegas (at least at the V) there is a secondary "meeting place" at the round bar in the center of the casino - usually stocked with a large group of crazies and is a good place to find people even if your own parties have closed up at 3 am or so. It will be interesting to see if AVN plans on continuing the tradition of trying to feed everyone as part of the cost of the floor ticket and as well - tries to make sure no one can get into anything without that ticket. They seemed to be able to control it in Fla - but this being a triple convention with the CES exhibits also at the V this time it will be a tough road for them. |

Think about it - you run a program & you want to take care of your affiliates by throwing a party. Why the fuck would you want AVN to advertise it & let every fucknut with a badge in for free food & booze? Send out an email or some passes with the checks & you're good to go |thumb |
GG - I totally agree - what I was wondering was if AVN themselves would be running the dining rooms like they did in Fla for floor badge holders - basically since they had the run of the hotel (which I noticed they are trying to get sponsors for some unusual things as well in Vegas - like toilet paper) they were able to actually serve a pretty good free breakfast and lunch in the large ballrooms - but figure since they dont have the complete run of the hotel in Vegas - it seemsthat they would have trouble justifying the cost of the badges being higher

"Greenguy & Jim Toilet Paper" does have a nice ring to it :)
|
maybe that's where you got the rotten crouch?
