My first 'sale' in late '97 was from a pay site. I had a friend with an amateur webcam site with his wife. She did live shows a few times a week. Still jpeg images captured from live video, uploaded at 10 to 15 second intervals. That's about how long it took to capture and upload each image. Streaming video was just becoming a viable option tech-wise, but video server providers were few, rather expensive, and were separate from site hosting. He was getting frustrated finding affordable adult hosting, video hosting, payment processing, etc. that all worked together without major security leaks. Thats how we met actually, I hacked into his site, then told him how I did it. He and I and another friend got to chatting one night and a "what if we could" turned into a small adult hosting company with in house video server, chat server and membership processing. In addition to hosting sites for a fee, we built cam sites for amateurs that didn't have the web skills and took a percentage of the sales. So, my first 'sale' was a sign-up to one of those cam sites. I don't even recall the domain names now. [edit]Oops, almost forgot. Magix, I took my first programming course in 1977 as a senior in high school. My 46th birthday was last month.[/edit] |
:)) I feel so young now :))) well i'm 21 :)) in april was my first visit to casino :)) i was waiting for it about 4 years, and it's a catching thing :))) and i get some profit 10 times more of it :) we got there with about 20$ and get out with 200$ :)))
and my sale is in the future, though i predict it will be in two weeks ( i think ) |greenguy| |
I can remember meeting a few people in New Jersey just after programs started switching from Clickthroughs to Signups. We were as outraged as much as recent times when programs started counting signups that stayed instead of just straight signups.
And, we had the same arguement..."it's not our problem what a surfer does once we send them to the program". |
First sale was 2 weeks after I started about 4.5 years ago. Was doing tgp and I did not know a thing about html. Someone showed me basics about thumb crop, dreamweaver and who to submit to. After that all on my own. But it was a fun hobby at night/weekends after a mortorcycle crash left me not able to ride for awhile. Went full time couple years back. I think it was easier to get sales when I started. Not so many programs to choose from.
Like Jim, my daughter is the youngest at 18 with 2 sons being 21 & 22 both at college. |

the first sale I made I still haven't gotten paid for because I never hit the sponsor's minimum payment |jester|
that was 2 yrs ago and it's gotten better than that thank goodness lol |
It took me about a month to design my first Platinum AVS site. I also go a gallery listing at Tommy's the same day. That night I had a couple of sales and I was hooked.
|
I had my first sale in dec. last year.
That same sponsor is now my best converting sponsor. :) |

My first free-site made 5 sales. I thought to myself, |buddy| this is easy. My next four free-sites never produced anything. Anyone who says every free-site makes a sale is full of shit. Keep plugging away at it. Quote:

My first sale was from either a sponsor called streetbucks or sexkey avs. Street bucks was the first sponsor I made regular sales from though. It was probably late in 99 or early in 2000.
This thread got me remembering... I registered xstash in 2000 but I had a little network on sexplanets freehost before that. They set you up on a second level domain name and you could control the footers of all the sites you or people who signed up on with yours. Made a nice easy on/off switch for focusing traffic. I remember my first free site. It was nothing like the format we have today. In fact it probably broke 80% of todays rules. It was free hosted, and had every thing sponsors offered all in that one site. Free content, content plugins, pic of the days, video chat links, hosted games, money bars and alot of banners. On top of all of that it was ugly as hell. Yet GG listed it. Needless to say my first sale did not come from there. :) |
i'm reading this thread, and i'm feeling like reading porn history, very interesting :) really how it started, and how people did it :)
i have a funny thought maybe Greenguyandjim could start something like a museum of porn, free sites and galleries :)) really it would be interesting to see how free sites and gallieries look 5 years or even 8 years ago ..... |
Magix,
You can look at the wayback machine and find some old sites ;) |
...or you can look at some modern newbie free sites with 25 468x80 banners on the index to get a general idea of what it all looked like. ;)
