Re:tracking banner conversions etc. what do you use for tracking banner conversions? I have to admit I have always been a "throw a new banner in there" type of webmaster and i have never kept track of good banners vs bad banners. I suppose theres some scripts out there that you could use, but I would not want to piss any link list owners off, if it has some fancy java or cgi on the page. What would you suggest for banner tracking? And what about text link tracking, is it possible to track this?

The way I have always made sites is to just whack home made text links in, or some banners from the site in question, never paying too much attention to which free site the sales came from etc. Even today I find it a bit tricky to know exactly what site made the sale. Unless you make a new NATS campaign for each site you do, but nats isnt available for sponsors such as top bucks, tcg or nasty or bang bros etc.

I have to say, I am just trying anything and everything right now, just to make a couple of sales, so I am all over the show really lol. I have some blogs but they are probably under your "crap" ones you mentioned. I dont always know what direction to go, so I do a bit of everything, but thats not necesarily a good thing as I could possibly be beter going in a direction that suited me more. Some people say, work out what works and multiply that, but I havent really found anything that works as such yet, as it does seem to be months and months of doing somethng before you will see a result, and being impatient at the best of times is not a good trait for me as I know you have to wait like 3-6 months to see some results for free sites or blogs.

Back to the grind )

cheers

JD

As for ads, one of the best tracking script is http://phpadsnew.com/two/ and best of all it's free. Incredible script. It does have a learning curve, but well worth it. Few people on this board use it, so if your ever stuck, should be able to get some help. I've never see a LL owner say anying about it, strange if they would. Now if you use a JS one, then you might get some flack, or bots not liking the code. Our goal is to get any many surfers to the sponsors as possible, it's a sales game. More people that see the paysite, more apt to sign-up. Of course better your ads pull, the more you send to the sponsor.

As for tracking sales, yes most sponsors do show, but not always. So you see the ones that make the sales and do more.

As for the waiting, thats not really true, least for free sites and tgp galleries for example. They both usually get traffic within a day or so, so in a week, you should be able to see what works and what does'nt. Should be able to see which ads work, which dont, eliminating the dogs. On another note, which sites/galleries get the most interest. It will take a little time, but I dont see it as months. Now a blog, that might take a little longer, they do need to "build-up". Nothing wrong with trying many things, just drop the ones you know for sure are not working, and give each venture enough time to evaluate if it works for you or not.

Also, of course the more focused you are, the better you'll do. Save time, automate what you can. Think of all the things you do in a normal day, see if you can streamline them or automate them.

laugh, good to hear it isnt just us. i still work at wal-mart , thats how i've been paying the bills for the last year while i started work on tightteela.com . i wont repeat the same things you've guys said already, but i can fully agree that this job is the hardest i've ever taken, not for the work itself, but because often there is little or no reward or pay, just work. and i've gotten concerned people around me wondering if i've made the right choice for work and its not the 'porn' aspect, its the money. on the plus side, most of the parts i didnt like or were hard to do because of the drain on my mental, are done with, and its been the most rewarding job putting my first paysite together.

you should spend your time making hosted galleries :-)

I love premoting single girls
I just surfed by your site and thought... ohh shes hot and.... nasty

Hi tommy please drop by your dc board as soon as you can

thanbks

SheepGuy 2006-12-20 01:36 AM

Hi Teela,
What Tommy says exactly! I looked at your site a month or so ago, looked great! But I promote about 300 solo girls at http://www.findavagina.com and while I would have loved to add your site to the mix, I didn't feel like taking the time to make 5 or six clean galleries to do it.
If you take the time to make them let me know and I'll have you up right away!

So true or else what's the point?

I agree about taking breaks. However my break has been to long and prolly need a good “ass kicking” to get going again.

I thought I'd post some more positive news. I don't frequent the boards or network often, but happened to see this. I'm also 35, and I average submitting 1-2 TGP galleries a day and maybe 1 freesite every few weeks, and maybe one 'other' site every few months. This comes out to an average of less than 2 hours a day for me and returns about 5-7k per month which allows me to travel, hobbies, take a month off, etc. I could put more hours in but I have other sources of income which gives me plenty and I'd rather have the free time.

This is more from a TGP gallery perspective, but some pointers:

1. Don't be afraid to purchase partner accounts. Spend a little money and submit good clean sites on fast hosting. I haven't tried buying gallery spots yet, just some partner submission accts.
2. Use a stats program like StatsRemote to compare and promote the better converting sponsors. I frequently try new categories/sites but still most of my traffic goes to the top converters. #1 converted last month at $.17/unique (including rebills) and the #2 converted at $.09/unique(PPS). Most of the others are $.04/unique or less.
3. Tweak your sites and try new things and compare ratios every month.
4. Have a place for the uninterested surfer to go. At the bottom of my pages I usually have a 'No thanks, take me to ' to keep them in my network. This *does* generate sales.

And some ratios from StatsRemote:
Last month (Nov 06) 88,471 Uniques, 164 sales, 136 rebills.
Year to Date (06) 835,274 Uniques, 1722 sales, 1519 rebills.

Keep trying, like anything else, the adult biz uses the 80/20 rule where probably 80% of the money is made by less than 20% of those involved. I'm a small timer.

ya know what would be cool

a whole bunch of galleries of you getting nailed wearing a tommys tshirt

the only thing is I have so many hosted gallerys in my script
20 or 30 galleries is like a grain of sand on the beach

you can see the amount of gallerys your stuff would be up against

but if your intersted I would love to talk to you about it

JD 2006-12-22 06:54 AM

Hi Tommy
Any chance of a submit pass? Or when will you be releasing some more of them :D

HowlingWulf

Thanks for the post, nice to have some positive feedback. Right now 5k would be fantastic, would pay the stupid mortgage and live off it. At the moment, my last sale was like a week and a half ago, and thats with submitting at least a free site a day to 60 odd link lists. Its just so slow and painful at the moment. How long have you been at it for?
What do you use for your submitting? I was using chameleon a while ago, with no paid passes though, just a few partner accounts and all the other sites in the database.
With your galleries, do you make them yourself or use the FHG ones and upload them? WIth so many thousands of FHG released every day, do you think its ok to use them on your own server for submitting with?
Good stuff with the work anyhow, I am so humble these days, I dont know what its like to make 5k a month anymore, so I consider you a big guy in terms of money, so there lol

ronnie
Thanks a lot for the link to that program and your advice also, all taken in and appreciated, regards
JD

HowlingWulf 2006-12-22 12:33 PM

Hmm I 'started' about 6 or 7 years ago, and it took me awhile to get into it fully. I wish I knew then what I know now.

For submitting, I use my own script which is similar to G.A.S.S. it keeps a database of sites and creates mirror pages of my gallery based on niche and recips based on size. I use Arles to help create the gallery and Irfanview to hand crop images as needed. I type the html code by hand with a VI editor. I submit by hand to each site on my list (about 50), with some filling help with Roboform. Never submit FHG to sites or even use those designs. TGP owners list those themselves and won't accept them from submitters, some will even ban you for that.

Spend some time surfing some big TGP sites, the top galleries usually have great designs. Mine are rather simple in comparison I dont use any fancy graphics.

Without having seen any of the freesites, hubs, galleries etc from anyone in this thread, I would have to say that, its not the 90s anymore, u cant just pump out stuff and forget it and expect the money to come.
You have to make sure you sell! something, and not just provide free porn to the surfer. We are in marketing, not public service. Work on the ads, read books, tutorials whatever on marketing. Positioning, text, colors, tease, psychology, and so on and on.

Oh, and last, only quitters quit. NEVER! give up.
Merry xmas ppl!

Jonno 2006-12-23 06:00 PM

Hi Tommy I'd certainly be interested in a chance to post with you.

I have really enjoyed reading this thread over the last few days. It makes me feel more a part of this business knowing that there are others out there that are experiencing the same problems and frustrations that I have had. It is also good to know that if you work hard, play by the rules and keep plugging away the chance to make a few buck is still out there.

I hope everyone has a great holiday season and a happy healthy and prosperous new year.

I'm feeling really really good about my freesites lately. I'm starting to see the results of trying to learn more about why one site did well when another similar one didn't etc etc.
Build...submit...learn seems to be the way to go for me, rather than build...submit...forget.

I'm much more organised now than I have been since day one, and I'm genuinely looking forward to 2007's freesites & some gallery projects, along with developing some new domains and some cam sites. I'll be buying more content too as lately I've been using lots of sponsor content which I think has cost me a few listings.

I took dareutwo's advice recently and I now have a day-to-day structured plan starting in January, to enable me to stay on top of my freesite building instead of drifting into a new project and missing a couple of days of submits.
It really feels like I'm treating my business as a real business now, and I take a lot of pride in what I do.

Without the advice from GG&J and the members here I'd be in a completely different position, so I suggest reading those acceptance/rejection emails and digging deep into old threads now and then for some great help.
One of the best things is that here you can learn from the best in the biz - from good people that have done it all before and are kind enough to help for FREE! No sugar-coating, no bullshit, and a very tasty learning curve.
Making freesites doesn't suck!
