Just got this in my e-mail from M3.

They based their entire operation in a city that has storms? How dare they!
|couch| |
I wrote back asking what happened to their emergency power generators
|
I don't pretend to know how all this internet stuff works & whatnot, but if most of the area was without power it's possible that they were up but the router was down?
All I know is that when my power goes out & the back-up generator goes on, we still have no cable TV |banghead
Yeah I could be something like that which would be out of their control.
The last thing I want to do is move my stuff but I really wish they would be more forth coming with what is up when they have problems. |
Personally, after my newbie nightmare with the then 'allwebsites' I found this little known (then) host that was way cheaper and the guy explained things in such detail that even a total 'server virgin' like me understood what he meant. I've been with them since and I could count the times my site has been down on three fingers and each time it was my boo-boo and it was them hitting me up telling me that my site was down. He's a security freak, so when the hackers started hitting on my hubby's paysite during the Christmas holidays - he contacted me at 4:20 am to tell me that my husband's site was being hit bad for the past 10 minutes - the server flagged it and called him to wake him up. How's that for service? heheh
They'll have to pull me away from Swiftwill kicking and screaming bloody murder :) |

How's that for appreciative for just not being mean to someone new |bow
Oh man, now I feel bad :(

Actually when I was moving hosts at the time I almost went with allwebsites instead of M3 server since your recommended them at the time.
That was back in the last century. |

You can only vouch for a company's acumen with what they've proven in the past. You can't speak for how they will be tomorrow or a year from now. They were good (expensive too) while they lasted, they could have been more clear on what the problem was but weren't. We live, we learn :) |
I didn't own AllWebSites, but I was promised part of the company & seeing as I paid their bandwidth bills for 2 months before I left, I might as well have owned them - LOL
My sincere apologies to anyone I referred to them! |

And yes, I'll certainly add GG&J's to my bookmarks and stop in to do something other than bitch about servers being down lol ;) |

OUCH. That hurts to even look at. Glad ya'll are back up. |
My two servers were down for around 3 hours not 11 hours.
|
good news. Servers down at 8:30est, Saturday, day before easter.
i'm clocking em! :) called and emailed. got an answering machine and no response (yet) we'll see. but night before easter could suck for length of time we remain down. |
back up. less than half an hour. A+
|
it's down here for me right now. I've had it with this shit
|
Down for me too, been down for almost an hour. |cry|
|
sigh :(
|
I called them just now and got nothing but that damned answering machine (left a not so nice message too) bah.. I'll be shopping for a new host, this is ridiculous.
|
I just got home and everything is working and I see lots of sign ups in my stats. :)
I do see looking in my stats that there was a problem lasting less then an hour. :( WTF, nothing from them about what the problem was. :( Maybe it is time to move one of my servers. :( |
I like these guys, dont get me wrong. They answered my email shortly after the crisis was taken care of.
just saying. :) |
A long over due reply.
Re: March outages.
I personally wanted to make sure everything was isolated, for sure, before jumping the gun with an uncertain reply. We had some lightening strikes that took out half the city and fried a switch of ours. After the backup switch install, everything was fine until a new problem that was introduced with the new switch was found. But, this wasn't obvious, since each switch has a redundant link, it was a very frustrating task to track it down. So, a simple reboot of the switches was accomplished to restore service. Once service was restored, there was no sign of this intermittent problem. Long story short, we tracked down the switch causing the problem and removed the redundant fiber link causing the conflict until we could resolve the problem. We have resolved the problem and the network is back to normal. I do apologize for the lack of communication and will post to this site in the event something happens in the future. After 9 years in the adult hosting business, we dropped the ball on communications this time. I assure you improvements to our processes have been made and better communication will be brought to the table when it happens as soon as humanly possible. Please email me with any direct concerns. As for rumors of us going out of business, far from the truth. We are debt free, own our network, servers, racks, building, etc... Also, please spam me with graphic bids. We need some graphic design work done. |
