I once said merci (thankyou) to a waiter in France, he snapped back at me with "DONT SPEAK FRENCH!"
I wasn't offended, it was pretty funny.

I was fortunate enough to go to a restaurant in Canada with Canadians and the waiter kept telling Stupid American jokes. I was offended. I ended up calling this waiter in an upscale restaurant a stupid cocksucker.

Jim 2005-12-14 12:47 PM

Nope...back then my name that I called people was a cocksmoker. Is there any wonder why I have problems with Canada? :)

RawAlex 2005-12-14 12:56 PM

Yeah, we don't allow smoking indoors anymore as a result.

if that were the case, I'd live in the safest neighbourhood around - there are NINE of them within 5 minutes of my house :D

Tim Hortons is THE donut shop - even crispy creme bombed here lol.

Yes, we are stupid pidors for taking this thread away from it's original intention actions.

We now have more Timmy's than we have hot dog places, I think. Really quite remarkable.

4 exactly I want to thank each for amusing threads. This board must make threads of the tool of upper part. You will marry Christmas, also, happy New Year.

That was my favorite part of Canada. Timmy's on every corner. The McDonald's up there are like mini-ghost towns. I try to get up there often enough to bring back some coffee and keep my TH mojo goin' LOL

Jim - I too encountered some of that Anti-American humour (note spelling) whilst visiting friends in Simcoe Ontario. I will forever be known there as the "Stupid Yankee" haha I took it as a compliment... which probably just solidified the nickname further...

I would say this is an exclusion. Usually the French don't speak english.

Um perhaps you and Tally need to travel together! Children in France are being taught a second language before they are in high school and many if not most of them choose English.

Actually we are talking about different things. Lots of them know english but they don't want to use it. Even if your french is not too good - the most part of them will be tolerant with you.

They take care of their traditions too much. But only few of them (those who have very low intelligence) are big racists.

I have to agree with yahook on this, the frenche are realy refusing to speak an other language then in their own language, even they know how to speak english.:) a big part of france is that way.
