I'm with you Opti :) Live and Let Live.

I used to report people for spam, scanning for trojans, spamming sponsors via email..... but what is the point of wasting time doing that. The sysadmins I have come across do not give a monkey's unless their servers are at risk. You are likely to be accidentally placed on a spammers list by someone not reading the headers correctly and entering your details instead of the spammers.

There is a major British ISP who serve millions of customers and their total abuse department consists of 4 people. They have no cat in hell's chance of dealing with minor cases of spam.

On a larger scale, Google are powerless to deal with a lot of shit which goes on with their serps. If you report something spammy what's the worst they can do? Ban a domain? Ban an IP range? Adjust their algo?

The main problem with 21st Century web communication is the fact that webmasters, spammers and hackers work around the clock, whereas sysadmins and company employees work 9 to 5.

Hey Urb.. speaking from the point of view of someone who has just got a couple of servers back online after 24 hours.. making complaints does work! |knockout|

I think the people who know how to cause to the most trouble seem to affect the more legitimate operations most though.. hardcore spammers and such are setup from the start to avoid being taken down totally by a single complaint.
