1,000 per month isn't that difficult if you're the sort of person that has an opinion on everything. :)

Yeah, and he lets everyone on the boards know when he's getting his eyebrows waxed. |rasta|

I prefer to keep my mouth shut and my mind open. Board whoring is difficult for me. :) It doesn't come naturally.

Just look at my post count on here.. and this is my FAVORITE board.

I'm starting to think that boards that allow Sig Whores are a lot like CJ sites - sure, there's some good links/info in there, but I'll be damned that every other link is bull shit :D

no kidding... it is the CJ of the adult webmaster world, I really don't know how people put up with it, but then again tons of surfers seem to for some reason |badidea|

when I am posting a lot I do notice my submit passes sell a little better

I've got the open mind. :)

I also like to ask questions if I don't understand anything. I also found out that it's sometimes better to state a position even if you don't actually believe in it. People are often more informative when they are being destructive than when they are being helpful.

but do you post just to sell your submit passes?

I know he doesn't but even if he did, it wouldn't matter. A sig whore is one that posts just for the sake of having this sig seen. There is no thought behind the post and it contributes nothing to the conversation.

Boards that allow it, are really whores themselves.

I wasn't implying that Tommy was posting just for that reason, just a rethorical question, I don't think he posts enough around here |thumb

I know Kinky...I was just making a point. :)

I knew that you knew, just being a sig whore :D LOL

Good question Jim, and I only read your initial post on this.

As you know I run a board myself. I chase away the sig whores and the freeloading contest whores all the time. No excessive contests and absolutely no token system in place. It just attracts the wrong kind of webmaster.

I could care less if my board is slower due to the fact there is no post whoring or drama going on. Quality over quantity.

Greenguy 2005-03-15 09:49 AM

Oh yeah - I almost forgot about this. This should be a good sign of how bad things are around here as far as sig whores & people that can't be bothered to read our sig rules.

We had Sparky do some custom work to the board - one this is a page that displays all the sigs that are over 80 characters - I went thru it last night & "corrected" about 50 sig files.

The other is a little button next to the poster that only our mods can see - now if they see a bad sig file, a simple click corrects the problem.

Thank |buddy| Sparky works for slave wages :D

Does the script count spaces and swear words? ;)

Greenguy 2005-03-15 10:16 AM

It ignores spaces, but loves the word "fuck" :D

you didn't get the invoice yet? I'll contact my accounting department.

I don't really know a lot about this... but as a person that went looking to hire one, I can guarantee you quantity wasnt what I was looking for... was looking for soemone who was a known regular at a coulple of boards.. that made a useful informative posts.. Imho webmasters make a point of clicking the sigs of interesting people.. to find out more about the person, I do at very least.

(PS.. I didn't want to pay the prices needed to get the spot with either of the 2 suitable people that I did run across btw. 500-600/mth)

Jim 2005-03-15 08:58 PM

As I mentioned tonight on the radio show
First person that gets me $5k, gets my sig for the month of April :)

Cleo 2005-03-15 08:59 PM

I sell mine for 6k, I post more then Jim.

cd34 2005-03-15 09:02 PM

I'll sell mine for $7k

It generated more traffic/controversy than either of yours. haha

Greenguy 2005-03-15 09:04 PM

Maybe I can give mine away for free :D

You guys are laughing... but if you auctioned off an innovative sig spot that you four carry.. 5k may not be out of the question. ;-)

Useless 2005-03-15 10:38 PM

I'll rent mine for $25/hour plus a company car with brewery logos on the doors.

If you DO buy a sig, and you want quality, don't pay per post.

Head Boy 2005-03-16 05:32 AM

It's interesting that many people seem to consider posting volumes as a measure of the success of a sig whore. For banner impressions, the guy that gets to the top of page two as well as having a post early on page one, is more valuable than the guy with 4 posts on page 1 - or have I misunderstood the concept of branding?

In the case of that Butcher thread that grew to the size of a book i read maybe the first two pages, waited a week or two, then read the last two pages of comments. I skipped everything in between.
