Thank you to everyone that's posted & even thought their well-wishes.

Don't send flowers & for the love of |buddy| don't send any more fucking food (I forgot how much food appears at your house when someone passes)

We are going to set up a donation to the local cancer hospital & I'll post the info here when I know it. I think we're going to gather the money ourselves & then buy a plaque on their wall or something like that.

As I have never lost a son or stepson I cannot know how much you and your wife must be hurting, so I know this must hurt you more than anything has ever hurt me in my life. You both have my sympathy and thoughts, and so do the rest of your family and your stepson's friends.

Well shit. You may not know this but my son committed suicide 5 months ago today. I wish I could give you some soothing words, but it's pure hell. He was 21.

If you or you wife want to talk or need some info (there is an excellent Parents of Suicide mailing list I'm a member of which has seriously saved my sanity) please let me know.

I will give you some advice my father gave me that at first made no sense but in hindsight was very wise - it helps people to help you. Let them.

My prayers are with you. The pain is something thankfully no one else will understand unless it's happened to them.
