I would do the panel.
I think the benifits of getting the greenguyandjim name in front of more people is a good thing and would ultimately benefit you and the board. |

In addition to just bumping an old thread - I did notice that AVN has a new rep that introduced himself on another board - guess this one doesnt rate AVNs time - but he was asking for suggestions - I really had to resist asking if they had ever thought of possibly doing a webmaster show :)

They fucked up by loosing Aly. |
I'm still waiting for AVN to invite me to chair a panel on rapport and diplomacy. :D

Criminy you all are merciless.
Cut the guy a break and let him learn to swim before you drown him out in criticisms. Aly was great in many respects and I like her but the simple fact is that she was simply a spokesperson, albeit a good one because of her charm and gracious wit. However, she was not a program OWNER, a link list OWNER, a TGP,MGP OWNER or anything else in terms of being the genius behind building a company. She was a rep and people often confuse REPS with OWNERS. She was paid to be at shows. She was not a leader. She was never a programmer. She didn't control traffic descisions. She was an employee who went to shows to put a face with a program. And that is still her role. She will be the first to admit that. So if the new guy needs to establish relationships and wants to start helping communication and effecting change then give him a friggin' chance. Let him establish himself on his own merits just like Aly had the chance to do. I am still irked by the passive aggressive nitpicking hating on AVN... how many have picked up the phone or written an email to them to actually deal directly with them and form a relationship by letting them know how you feel? |
Far-L - we'd welcome him with open arms before we started to throw tomatoes |tomato|
Seriously, I was gonna try to find him on Monday & see if we could get him over here for a civil discussion. I'm a lot less angry about this now that Russia hates me :D |
Greenie my love...
despite the fact that I'm often unsociable and unreachable I think you're worth millions. The amount of information that you've shared with people over the years for free has been more than generous. If they don't know who you are the reason why should be perfectly clear. There are those who are part of their little network of circle jerks and monopolistic video clan and those who are not. In that respect, I would consider you the king of "the other". |headbang| If you choose to share at Internext do it because you have something to say. Id decide what your minimum is then ask for 4 times that. Decide in advance whether the exposure itself is worth your while then go with what you feel isnt exploiting you. I personally think that you're MORE than necessary to make the panel worthwhile. Much love! |
