*** D2222, Fonz & NY Jester - you have until I get here Monday morning before I remove you from my flow chart |angry| I've also noticed a lot of fatties wearing clothing when they weigh themselves. Shorts vs pants can easily be .5 to 1 lb. Try doing what I do: move the scale in front of a full length mirror & weight yourself in the nude. Not only will you get a more accurate weight, you'll feel disgusted with your appearance and be more likely to keep on the diet |thumb ...and stop with "the camera weighs a pound" We're all holding a camera. |

Have you always gained and lost at this rate? |

Remembered to weigh today before drinking my morning Rockstar. Down now to 178.5. :)
I'm sore as hell too, this walking an hour every day is wearing, when do you start to feel better with all this healthy eating an exercise? lol. MadHatter and I started to walk the same route as the day before, but it was hot so we turned around and walked to a local park and walked around in the shade of the trees, then sat on a bench for awhile. We bought some bad mitten rackets to help with exercise, I haven't played that since I was a kid, going to take that today to play in the shady park. |

*** It's all relative anyway, as long as you have the camera in your hands for every picture. |

Here is a tool to see how many calories to maintain your weight, then just try to cut 500 or so a day. Someone your size should not suddenly go down to 1000 calories a day, you just won't lose the weight. |

Once you start reducing your intake your body will start to burn off fat but depending on your metabilism will determin how quickly that will start. Just like everyone else you're doing well to take on the challenge. |

Maybe I'm taking this too serious but I have big plans with my diet this time :) Besides my daily walks I've also been doing some exercises on my elliptical bicycle (~40 min daily before going to bed) and I take some fat burner pills 15 min before my exercises. http://www.getpornlinks.com/diet/diet.htm |

Mr Mary Lou - let me give you some advice. Being a big guy myself, Ive started to go at the weight loss again since my seperation. For myself and no one else.
The key for bigger people, those with the most weight to lose is, stoking the fire, you need food in your body for energy to burn. Do not go more than 4-5 hours without having something..a piece of fruit, a granola bar, some peanuts, a yogurt, something...make your meals smaller but more often.. if youre worried about not feeling full with dinner, include a salad...stay away from soda and watch the sugar drinks too. If you can cut down between 500 and 700 calories a day youll drop the lbs. The body at the beginning stages tries to self preserve, so therefore, you wont see right away ..meaning a day or three..but keep up the same pace and you'll see it within 2 weeks - 30 days. Also stay hydrated. Its important for metabolism. If the body's systems are working properly its less things that can keep the body from burning calories and fat. Also any exercise you can do, even sitting in a chair doing arm exercises, is important. Get the big limbs moving and that will help burn more calories. If you're doing little to none now, any activity will increase calories being burned. Greenie, you can take me off the flow chart, Im only Unofficially in. Ive got more long term things Im working on, but Im doing it right along with you guys. Im here for the support and the encouragement. |
Just weighing in to say good luck to all contestants. Do this smartly, not too fast, and you'll all be winners. I lost over 40lbs in the past year and a half (lost them during one year and been maintaining for half a year now). Going back on a diet now, I want to shed those final extra 20lbs too.
What worked for me is the GI (glycemic index) diet. It is probably especially effective for people with a lot of excess weight, because most people who are obese are also insulin-intolerant. If anyone's interested, I can post the basic principles here. Another thing that works for me is exercise. I work out 3-4 times a week, rain or shine. Bought myself a gym subscription and been using it religiously. I actually enjoy the break in my daily routine and look forward to it. Now, I'm your typical couch potato by nature, the one that always tried to avoid PE in any possible way, but in this decade I discovered the actual joys of exercise, and more specifically running. I couldn't really run when I started losing weight, but very very gradually, I moved from walking to running (doing just slightly more running every week). I'm still not a very good runner :D and I'm up to about 4k of running at a time (I add 3 km walking), but it feels sooooo good! I can't wait for my next run, they truly are addictive. I never in my life thought I would be able to run more than 200 meters, but here I am jogging away, so I can honestly say, it is for everyone. Just do it gradually and read up about it before you start to avoid injury. Again, best of luck to everyone! |
