Is anyone promoting mobile content yet?
 

I'm having it installed right now on my paysites. I'm anxious to see how it does. Is anyone else promoting mobile content yet? How are you doing with it?

We've talked about this a couple time before on the board - my thinking has always been how desperate are you for porn that you need it on your cell phone?

I'm looking at this for various projects. SMS billing is very big here in the UK. As far as I know, however, you are limited to one-time subscription, no recurring (I could be wrong). What's very interesting is that is provides a NEW revenue stream coupled with a new BILLING module. Great aspect is that, by simply sending a text message, the surfer effectively buys a membership. Very simple.

Other advantaged are the potential for branding and expanding your brand into new markets that may not have found you online. One example of branding is providing mobile screensavers and wallpapers, thus encouraging return visits and increasing exposure to other potential surfers : hey take a look at my wicked new wall paper, oo that's naughty.

I've been thinking alot about it for some time

I just don't see it becoming a very big money earner but then I'm still amazed that anyone does buy porn at all.

I'm seeing SMS billing takeing off in Mexico too full page newspaper adds text flirting cartoon wallpapers, screwy ringers and things like that, I don't get it, but the adds cost money so theres got to be something to it |waves|

Yeah, thats what i was thinking... but it will probably be a fad for a while and sell.

Well it hasn't quite caught on in the U.S. and maybe it won't even. But it is HUUUUGE in Europe and that is the market I'm trying to reach right now. Guys like sexy backgrounds on their phones I guess. I dunno, I'm not male nor a porn surfer.

Anyhow to answer your question Pat, there was some code that I had to add to my site but since my sites are already filled with a plethora of scripts it was not as easy for me as it is for everyone else. I had to get their coder to screw around with it.

And I'm using mPUSH just as the guy spammed on here already. :D

Maybe not, but it cost me zero to signup and there's zero overhead so why not offer more features on my site? Maybe someone will benefit. |noclue|

Anyhow the way I've got it set up on my paysite is that all my dynamic PHP pictures have an unobtrusive small link below them that says "send this to my mobile phone" and then for .50 they can download it through SMS.

I mean if Verizon Wireless thinks they can sell friggin MUSIC VIDEOS for $3.99 on a cell phone, then why can't I sell porn for .50 a pic?

You're right. Let's face it, any other billing option is good news; more options, the better.

I'm having to use a UK-specific processor for some of my sites because they have more common local payment options (solo, switch, electron). I've also been looking into using sms billing as an added alternative.

Not sure what it's like in the US, but here the mobile market is fucking HEEYOWGE. You can't watch ads on tv without being hit by it. In terms of porn, which is not currently truly exploring the possibilities imo, there are some key sites that could be setup : x rated wallpapers, rude ring tones, rude screensavers, and video clips.

I have the newest motorola, razor v3. Pretty big screen and it takes pics as well as videos. I can see there being a big market for downloading erotic video clips, which can then be USBed to the pc or mac in the evening. Surfers might not want to wank over pics with their mobys, but they might want to get all the above and, in the case of movies, transfer then to their pcs.

All interesting stuff.

Here in the US if our phones were anymore behind in current technology they would have strings so it is hard to imagine what Europe is using.

Give it 12 months everyone will have this thing or similar. And you can get ones with big ass screens (better for surfing) but I like small and sleek like my penis. :D

I was in Japan in March of '96 and everyone had a cell phone. I mean EVERYONE. I kept thinking it was the some sort of Asian phenomenon. But look at us today. I can't even go to the grocery store without wanting to slap a phone away from someone's ear.

I really dislike the damn things. But I don't like my house phone either, so...

I recently started promoting SextMessage I'll let you know how well they convert.

I was looking into SMS billing for our sites but i was just wondering is there anyway to do age verification on the surfer as i wouldn't want some angry parent on my case if their 14 yr old got access to a site by using his mobile.... That is my main concern about SMS billing and from my research i dunno if there is anyway of doing so, i was told by someone who sells SMS billing that for european countires that age verification wasn't required however i wasn't convinced that this is the case - anyone know any different?

Bit of a grey area this. The rules concerning this, if any, vary from country to country.

As it stands, there is no AVS for cellphones. Many are concerned about the implications of kids getting access to mobile porn but, so far, it would appear to be a self-regulating market.

Like i say i would be reluctant to adopt SMS billing without having this issue clarified... As over here in the UK, most teenagers have mobiles and wouldn't think twice about sending an SMS to a premium number to get access to a porn site!
