Where do I sign up?

I'd be much more convinced about the safety of the procedure if they would have chosen a photo that didn't make me think of the movie Pet Cemetary.

spookyx 2005-06-27 08:30 PM

does Gabbo know about this?

|shocking|

I agree 100% UW, but I cant think of any better image they could have used... Anything that strikes fear into the readers is sure to be a good article, right? lol

FTS 2005-06-27 10:00 PM

couldnt they bring something cuter back to life? that thing looks nuts

Useless 2005-06-27 10:43 PM

Now that I have had time to think about this, it sort pisses me off. (surprise, surprise) Why are they spending time and money on bringing back the dead when the cocksuckers haven't bothered to find a way to make life itself less miserable. How about cancer? Mind taking a crack at that boys? Who here hasn't lost someone they love to cancer? Fuck those bastard dogs. Fuck resurrecting the dead. Save our loved ones from dying you dumb fucks!

Exactly, watching someone you love die from cancer is the worst experience anyone can go through. I am convince though that if they did find a cure it would be so expensive that only rich folks could afford it.

Wenchy 2005-06-27 11:04 PM

I'll do you one better, nycfreak. I'd be willing to bet that the cure for cancer... ALL cancer... has already been found and is sitting on a shelf or in a refrigerator somewhere. BUT... cancer is a hugely profitable money-making enterprise and the powers that be aren't going to let something like a cure that could save the lives of millions mess up their bottom line.

I dunno about you guys, but thoughts like that keep me up nights sometimes |dizzy|

I know what you mean. The one that keeps me awake from time to time is this:
If our knees bent the other direction, what would a chair look like? ;)

Yeah, I agree the drug companies are no worst than the neighborhood drug dealer or tobacco companies, its all about the money.

neticule 2005-06-27 11:41 PM

HMM

Overall it pisses me off.

However, if used properly there are some good applications for this, such as heart surgery, where it is very hard to operate on someones heart while it is still beating, and very often just leads to deaths, if they could stop the heart, repair it, then revive the heart, that is a good application. That is of course when you put aside all moral implications that said person may have gone to the "afterlife" and brought back, are they a person with no soul after that? who knows. But, if everything was good and dandy with this procedure, it could save many lives, such as gunshot wounds where too much blood is lost. however, it still pisses me off, because im at a point where I just dont know how these people will be when they "come back to life." the article says no brain damage, but those of us that are somewhat spiritual (read: not religious, spiritual) will be lead to believe that something in them has moved on when their heart/brain functions stop, and when revived, it no longer remains.

This is a tough subject, overall, I really dont think much good will come from this, BUT if the slim possibility exists that someone could unergo heart surgery or major wound surgery, and come back out of it THE SAME PERSON, I am all for it. IF ITS USED CORRECTLY. However, I doubt they would come back as "The same person", something has GOT to be lost when you die, just IMO.

I have to disagree with you on this one Wenchy.
I never met either of my grandfathers due to cancer, and 4 other family members so far.
However, IF a cancer CURE was available it would be worth multi-billions of dollars. Way more money than any pharma company could ever hope to earn in a 100 years.
From what I understand what they are working on, the most promising results are coming from sea life.

btw- human babies have this stories' ability too.
Medicine in 20 years will make 2005 look like the stone age.

Hey UW! :)

The cure is being worked on non stop, and not just by us humans. Have you ever read any spiritual or "the other side" books? They say the higher intelligence is constantly working for cures of all diseases, and when they are found, they are infused or implanted into the people that know what to do with it. Ok, so i've had a few to drink tonight, but it's the truth! |mml|
