Florida's new gun laws

florida

Does this mean Cleo can shoot UW if he comes to visit?

:D

RawAlex 2005-10-04 04:07 PM

I just love it... a clear reason not to go to internext in miami next year. The way I read it, you can be shot just for raising your voice or calling someone an idiot (and trust me, miami has it's share of idiots).

I expect the death rate in Florida to shoot off the scope once someone gets away with it once.

It's just fucked up beyond belief. :(

Florida has also ruled that employers can not stop workers from bringing guns to work.

Just plain fucked up. :(

Leon 2005-10-04 04:27 PM

wow thats sound scary , minimum wage employee with a gun

The employers part I just don't get. That means that the right to bear arms is greater than a person's right to private property? Doesn't the owner of the business have the right deny access to those people he does not want and ensure a safe work place? This is sooo out of wack.

So now people can walk around with concealed weapons and shoot people that THEY perceive to be a threat? I can tell from a Canadian perspective this looks crazy. BTW, if I make threatening remarks at Disneyworld, will I get wacked? LOL!!

I guess if the guy in the mickey mouse costume has his gun permit, the answer is yes :D

Torn Rose 2005-10-04 05:33 PM

Actually the law says the employee has the right to have a gun in his car in the employer’s parking lot, not actually to carry it at work.

Cleo 2005-10-04 05:40 PM

Should make car pooling much more interesting.

Yeah that is what I want doing construction in my neighborhood… a whole work site of construction workers with guns in their trucks having some after work beers.

Should do wonders for rush hour road rage.

docholly 2005-10-04 06:06 PM

Hey i read that Jeb's youngest son got picked up for DUI and something else.. do you thinking he was out drinking with uncle Dubya??

|cool|

Torn Rose 2005-10-04 06:17 PM

Does this mean that Priests can have guns in their churches? Sounds like a movie "Armed and Dangerous Confessionals" ;)

Cleo 2005-10-04 07:33 PM

South Florida has multiple shootings ever day already.

I myself have been a shooting victim.

These new laws are just so fucked up. :(

SirMoby 2005-10-04 07:57 PM

I'd like to read the actual law but I'm concerned that if I demand to see the law that Cleo can shoot me the next time she sees me. That makes her threatening to me so maybe I can shoot her. Hmmm....... :)

I've always thought that guns should be left in cars where they can be easily stolen. That's a good idea that I'm sure the gun makers and gangs love!

porndragon 2005-10-04 08:46 PM

Personally I think you guys are overreacting the multiple shootings that took place before this law were criminals all this law says is the citizen who would be shot by the criminal in the past can now shoot the criminal given a few will use this to become criminals but should work out better in the long run if the public is threatened by death for attacking someone then seems only fit that the public will behave also the article you posted is from a totally anti gun viewpoint and the quotes you are reading do not necessarily reflect the acctual law itself. I believe in the saying better armed citizens mean better behaved criminals but then again I am pro gun and a licensed C&R by the ATF. And newsflash but there is always a self defense plea in all states for shooting someone this is no different here where I live a guy beat up another guy who in turn shot him 7 times and got off on self defense because he was threatened this is no different. The shouting and yelling I believe will not be a sufficient enough reson to shoot someone and will be sorted out in the court system. Just don't overeact from reading a anti gun viewpoint according to most of these the ban that went out a year or two ago meant world war 3 and it has yet to happen most of them missread the laws simple fact of the matter with the ban was you could always get banned items during the ban if they were manufactured prior to the ban. Just my view point don't overreact to my points either. ;)

We just need more guns. Maybe force everyone to carry at least one gun. That should make it much safer for everyone.

The problem isn't to many or not enough guns it is that criminals get the best guns threw illegal channels and citizens don't have the force to stop them just think back threw history ancient times everyone carried spears and swords and for the most part crime was down. When guns are banned only criminals have guns. Think bank robberies would happen if the tellers had guns? Same goes for almost every crime criminals when met with citizen force don't stand a chance. Guns don't kill people people kill people and most in this country would rather not kill but be protected.

Surfn 2005-10-04 09:57 PM

I'm beginning to wonder if I live on the same planet as some of you |dizzy|

porndragon 2005-10-04 10:02 PM

Just a sumary of some things.

Can you get an automatic weapon in the US? Yes with a class 3 atf license

Can you get a silencer in the US? Yes and in most states the common citizen can own them

Can you get armour piercing shells in the US? Yes again

Can you get grenades in the US? Big ole yep

Can you get incidiary rounds in the us? Yep again

Can you get C4/tnt/other explosives in the us? yes with a destructive devices license from the atf

Can you get shot in the us? Yes but less than 1% of legal gun owners have shot someone.

Can you get radioactive material in the us? Yes some on ebay right now.

So with all this being bought and 1% of it being used to terrorize citizens i find it hard to believe that guns are to blame for it.

ecchi 2005-10-04 10:22 PM

Hey I feel threatened by George W. So get him and me together in Florida and I can make America a better place !

(I also feel threatened by Bill Gates, all anti-porn protesters, and the guy who fired me for farting in the jewellery repair area. Let's get them all together in Florida and P-A-R-T-Y.)

sue-fl 2005-10-04 10:48 PM

Well that is just stupid! I'm staying off the roads at 5pm when good old road rage is at it's best. Fucked up to say the least!

SirMoby 2005-10-04 11:50 PM

Like I said earlier, I would like to see the actual law. Someone that's not pointing to the law and saying don't listen to a one sided story just gives me more reason to be against it.

Reading the thoughts of gun proponents is usually the reason why gun owners make me nervous.

I've had the gun discussion with my hunter/gatherer brother on multiple ocassions and it usually ends with me saying something like "you have any idea how fucking nuts you sound?" or "you DO realize that communist Russia no longer exists and that they NEVER had plans to attack the hick towns of upstate New York, right?".

I've come to this basic understanding about gun worshippers. If the gun owner's feelings about guns has something to do with their constitutional right to bare arms in case the need to overthrow our government or assist in defense of the homeland, they're just someone with a small cock and a very poor sense of reality. If you ask a gun owner why they need a gun and they reply, "I don't need one, I just really like them", they are probably pretty normal.

porndragon 2005-10-05 02:27 AM

I don't need one either just like em alot :P fun to work on shoot hunt and all noone ever "needs" a gun but they elect to own them ;)
