PR Question
How does it come that my warning page has a PR3 and my main page a PR2?
Shouldn't they be the same or what is it that determines the PR? |
PR is this big complicated mess that people pay way too much attention to.
That being said it just means more people link to your root page then your main page. |
Aha, I see, but is it any useful in some way?
|
You need a PR of 4, or something like that can't remember, to get deep spidered. You also need a certain PR for Google to cache your pages.
Mostly it seems to be good for starting threads about PR. :D Sure having a high PR is good, but don't get too obsessed with the PR of your pages. :) |
Well, I thought that maybe google would send you more hits if you have high PR.
What does it means to get deep spidered? |

Let assume that the PR the toolbar shows you is correct...(which it may not be) Cleo is right in that your root index is the page that most incoming links come to.. so it will be "ranked" higher than the internal pages. Look at the back links to that page and the toolbar will show you the higher ranked pages linking to it. (the rule used to be pages or PR > or = to 4) http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...teens%2Ecom%2F This does NOT show every back(incoming) link! Quote:
Page content, keywords, word density, incoming links, linked text etc etc are just some of the other things Google uses to 'calculate' its results. Cleo, I believe any domain can be deep spidered as long as Googlebot is aware of it.. I do not believe it is based on PR. How often Googlebot returns to the page to re-spider it may be. Either way the premise for better search results remains the same. Gain more relevant incoming links Use spicific keyword and anchor text in those incoming links Use and dont over-use appropriate keywords within your pages. DD |
I really did think that I had read someplace that your PR had an effect on how deep into your domain they went, but then again I was told that there was an Easter bunny.
Anyway I've learned that when it comes to SEs DD is usually right. :D |
one of my domains warning page just went from pr2 to pr3 and main page from pr1 to pr3, the cats now have pr ( some 1 or 2 ), webmaster and submit pages are now pr 2 & pr3 i have no idea how it works.
|
Syke,
It is not too hard to understand.. the basics at least.. If you want to show me a/the domain I will walk you thru the basics.. DD |
well, the PR on my main page has dropped since i posted, but http://www.collegecumshots.com has 3 on the index and 3 on the main. http://www.tripleorgasm.com/ has 3 on the index and 1 on the main ( which im guessing is a back link thing, since most linkbacks are to the index).....

Ha well finally my ghost domain netmaniak.com gives after last month a pr7 now a pr0, soooo that will mean that it isnt a ghost url any more and that google have finally fix my problem after 5 months!!!|roses| Now i can work on the damn site!!! I dont believe i was ever so happy with an pr0|bananna|
|
Really, the most important part is once you get a reasonable PR, is to work to optimize the page for the SERPs... PR4 or better means that googlebot is going to come visit regularly, so now you can start playing and working towards getting humans to come to your site, not just bots.
PR10 and bad design don't add up to alot of traffic. Alex |

I must admit I have some problems figuring this PR thing out as well. What I really wanted was to have a PR5 on Booballistics index page. But alas...
But then all of a sudden my main page on HooterHQ goes from PR3 to PR5... haven't done a damn thing there?? However... like it has already been mentioned... its not like the PR5 has caused thousands upon thousands of SE hits |sad
i agree with Urb and Jantm, focus on pr did me |cry| and ***sign*** ses hits thats it is all about for me now!!|violin|
|
stuveltje :) girl you got it - PR doesnt mean much of anything...Id rather have a site with a PR0 or 1 with 1000 keyword combinations ranking in the SE results than a PR5 with nothing in the results - I like money :)

Managed to get a PR6 on an adult site once. (Got witnesses too)
Was done with no artificial feeders, just sheer brute force of back links. I am sure Google de-rank adult material anyway. |rasta
Urb...I think with the highest PR adult site out there an 8 (if it still is?) and a few 7's floating around, and the fact that the DMOZ cats never get much above a 6 for the adult side, its tough to get above 5, and stay there, and 6s are real hard work like you mentioned. As long as you stay away from the artificial bunk and work the backlinks like you say, it can be done.
Funny...on the mainstream side, you can put a site up, get the right cat in DMOZ for a 2 page affiliate site, and get a PR5 the next month....what a difference. |
Well if no one thinks its worth anything... I wont bother. :D
PR6 aint that hard |rasta| - http://www.dangerdave.com.au/ DD |
if PR4, PR5, 6, 7 or whatever means that your page is updated more often in the index or has some sort of advantage over lower PR sites then it is worth something but not the be all and end all...
|
DDave - LOL - and worth the work you put into it....shows the difference of working hard and not going for those easy outs :)
