Yeah I caught that one this morning. :(

RawAlex 2003-08-31 08:55 PM

Funny part is, that is the first one I have seen for a while. There was a significant drop of sites earlier in the summer, but august has been pretty quiet.

However, the summer has been tough, and sadly I am sure that there will be people out there not able to pay their hosting bills in the next month or two. Keep those bots active!

Ummm this person is ..known to me... (cant really use the word friend anymore :( )

True.. not many redirectors.. but I have had a fair number of recip removers. :(

kubfish@wifepantypictures.com

same cookie everytime he submits
he's an amateur

Ramster 2003-09-01 07:36 AM

I caught him redirecting to HornyFish not too long ago. And yes DangerDave, I think he is known to me for some reason but I just can't place it.

RawAlex 2003-09-01 08:55 AM

Anyone who thinks they go through this business anonymously, well... heh-heh...

It really bugs me to see a good submiter go bad. Makes you wonder for everyone else for a few minutes.... then things go back to normal.

What gets me is why do people remove recips? What gets me even more is it's someone who posts at this board. I won't say names, but you sir/ma'am have been found out :) Enjoy the free traffic ya had.

On the other hand, everyone else from this board who has sent me sites are always welcome. The good people know who they are.

RawAlex 2003-09-01 10:39 AM

Cleo, there certainly is some interesting spammy type sites in that pile... weird ass little semi-TGP pages... odd looking stuff. Can any of the SE experts give an opinion?

I thought I had seen him around somewhere.

Marie ran her bot yesterday - another 145 sites deleted - 30 of them were submitted by a TGP owner and those ones all now re-direct to his TGP.

Pretty sad and scummy.

DangerDave 2003-09-01 02:17 PM

Tommy,

the sad thing his that he "wasn't" an amateur.... but NOW most definitely is.

It would be interesting to find out what the backstory is. It seems like a dumb thing to do, even if you are going out of business.

If anyone finds out what was going on in his head, that would make a good story.

That is what I heard Bill.. :(

Bill, actually, it is probably not a terrible "last gasp" to make money with. You take all your domains, point them to a single IP, take the lowest bandwidth plan possible (you won't need hardly any) and just set up a redirect for EVERYTHING coming to them.

For anywhere from 30 days to a year, you will still be getting traffic, and you will still get sales - now without any real expense except that cheap hosting. Because you aren't hosting adult material, you could be hosted ANYWHERE!

Let's say he maked 30 sales a month. That is a free 1k a month for NOTHING. Really good, especially if you have gone back to work at McRonnies or TacoBall.

Alex

PS: I just noticed that we don't have a "burger flipping" smilie here! Gotta look for one!

The Other Steve 2003-09-01 04:38 PM

We also need a pizza delivery smiley - I noticed a big mouthed 'expert' in another place has gone back to delivering pizzas.

RawAlex 2003-09-01 05:41 PM

Steve, do tell... who might that be bringing my dinner tomorrow?

Alex

Syke 2003-09-01 07:38 PM

while we're on the topic.. i know im not the person you guys are talking about, but i've ahd some probs with redirects in the past - 404 ( moved hosting and sites left behind, etc)

i just checked some sites recently and noticed the entire /recips & /banners/ directories had not been transferred to one domain and had probably been like that for a while.. fixed the /recips but not the banners as fast as i could. The only other sites of mine you'll see changed /redirected are avs sites that i've closed down until further notice. eg, cumherface.com & cumgurls.com.

a question on the side, i notice a lot of link lists using a script that wont let you submit 2 sites within 24hrs, does this mean you gradually need to submit later every day?

You probably wouldn't know him but he blew onto the newbie board on another place and told everyone there how he didn't know the first thing about html and he didn't need to know because he paid someone to do all that for him.

The newbies loved him when he gave them advice and they never seemed to notice when he stumbled from one crisis to another.

I think he even came in here once or twice proclaiming that he had instructed his lawyers to start a class action against Visa. Man I bet Visa are relieved that he won't be able to afford to do that .

Newbies are such strange creatures - they take advice from anyone who looks sexy or spreads bullshit around. They never seem to want to listen to anyone who has even half a clue.

Maybe that's because the people who have half a clue have a vague idea of how the "work input :: rewards" ratio actually works, but they're still looking for the get rich quick scheme? :-))

I've had the same problems before with hosting. Had to go and change my fairly aggressive 404's on all of my domains to a blank page, explaining the error and telling the surfer to use their back button.

Everybody has problems but it's what you do when you have a problem that affects how everyone interprets your intentions.

Cleo 2003-09-02 05:02 AM

One of the great thing about being active on the boards is when you have a problem like this.

I've thought that maybe it was just a fuck up by his host or something like that, but no one has posted that he has made a post about it and from what I see he is active on some boards.
