? about being a porn webmistress becoming public knowledge

My question about being a porn webmistress becoming public knowledge centers around finding a search term that connects me to my porn website empire (only a few sites are populated ... and a couple of them poorly ... LOL!!! ... but I'm having fun :-) and the connection is too imbedded to break.

Are there others who publicly declare I am a porn webmaster and I'm a good person? ~ well shoot ~ that didn't come out right (Which is better; self disclosure before some one "finds out" or if {when} some one does, shrug my shoulders and say ... so? ;-)

Thanks for all the advice in advance |bow| |thumb |bow|

I remember telling my Mother way back. It wasn't fun but at least she stopped getting me teaching jobs. :) As for anyone else, I just size them up really quick. If they look like they can handle it, I tell them the truth. If not, I do internet marketing. If someone already knows, it's too late.

LOL!!!! Thanks Jim! I already told my Mom. If Dad was still in the physical realm, he'd be so proud ...

It IS all relative ;-) and not in that sense (-: now, off to work I go :-)

I tell all my classmates at Bible school.

Well... I do not hide the fact I sling porn for a living from my friends, but some family members will never know if I can help it. As Jim said, I just try to gauge if they can take it or not. Other than that, I don't just disclose the information to everyone that asks what I do for a living.

When the people at the bank ask me, I always just say "internet marketing" or "i build websites". :D

Mr Spock 2007-10-16 09:38 AM

I tell people I work with the poor :D

KG Gary 2007-10-16 09:39 AM

I tell anyone who's interested.
No point lying or hiding it - I'm very proud to do what I do.

I guess that's the first place I oops'ed ... my business name and DBA on my checks ... Emc2Passion ... and I do Internet Marketing and Web Design :-)

Freedom ~ what a wonderful thing |bow| |thumb |bow| May all your days be wondrously wow! and ... have fun out there.

awlwebmistress 2007-10-16 12:29 PM

I guess it all depends on who you want to tell... I too use the "Internet marketing" or "consulting" thing when the bank asks about all those checks... or when neighbors ask too many questions... and of course on my taxes - lol

And my husband loves to blab about it to his friends at work... half of them look @ me like I'm a disgusting pervert (and their wives too... that's the tough part - the way those wives look at me at company functions) and the other half thinks its cool I make hubby go to porn conventions and wants me to hook them up with a porn star - BOTH are SOOOO far off the mark of what I actually do that it isn't even funny. Most times I wish he'd never said anything to any of them.

My dad figured out what I do and he seems to be cool with it although we never really discuss it and my siblings know what I do - in fact my brother recently started working in the biz as well - lol

I tell nobody. If the person mentions porn 3 times within the first 15 minutes of our convo then ok I'll let the cat out of the bag. I went to an actors house the other day. I was to help him with a myspace adder. Come to find out he was on days of our lives for a couple years. He mentions porn a few times. I am trying to be professional with our meeting. Then the guy mentions porn again. So what the hell I'll show him some sites I made. It was pretty funny. He appreciated it.
As a rule I tell no one though. I do internet marketing. That my story and I'm sticking to it. There are some threads in the SEO section to help you with the lingo.

annie_cash 2007-10-16 04:12 PM

I agree it depends on who you want to know about what you do for living.

When average people ask I just say "Im a web designer" so I keep them happy and they ussualy reply "wow this young lady is such an example". LOL!

My mother and my grandma still think this is sick and they always tell me why dont I get a real job. Then its my boyfriend, who is cool with it moslty because of the $, but he's starting to hate this too because he cant help but compare his penis size with the guys from the porn movies all the time

sue-fl 2007-10-16 05:50 PM

I use the same "I make websites" to certain people also and it works fine.

My mom always gets after me to quit, so she is not thrilled with what I do but still loves me :D

I figure it's up to me who I tell and that is how I handle it |thumb

Selenia 2007-10-16 08:45 PM

My friends, boyfriend, and his mom all know and think it's pretty cool - the bf even helps out from time to time. :) My mom had a hard enough problem realizing I was supporting myself with working online, so I had to deal with the 'do you have a real job yet' speech every time we talk. I can't say that I'm very much inclined to mention any of this part of it to her lol. I could only imagine the ranting then. :/

Hell, I can't drive through the drive through at my bank without the girls commenting on the new "actress" that cashed her check that morning and asking if I’m boning the girl that just happens to be in my truck |boobies|– my sisters won’t ride with me anymore.

I did think long and hard before I even started this because the impact it might have on my other businesses – long story short - the little head won!

Most of my family knows - did I mention that most of them are Mormons - they just don’t talk about it. My younger brother wishes he could join me but he’s a Col in the Air Force and well, it just wouldn’t work – would be fun though as we look enough alike to pass as twins.

I do get a huge kick out of telling prude church fucks that I screw teens on camera for a living |shocking|- especially when I’m wearing one of my t-shirts for our new “Bring Me Your Sister” site – “got a sister’? :D

Relax, it’s only sex.

Exactly, when they start seeing good money rolling in they at least give it a second thought.

HowlingWulf 2007-10-17 06:59 PM

My friends I tell are jealous cause they know I goof off all day and make much more than they do. For family I still use 'internet marketing' though.

emc2 2007-10-18 07:46 AM

Thank you, thank you, thank you all |headbang| I knew I'd get the right answer here |bananna|

I am who I am, I do what I do ... and lovin' every minute of it ...

LOL!!! Good bumper sticker / button ... "Havin' fun now, ask me how"

secretagentwilly 2007-10-19 02:54 AM

It is what it is...I don't tell people because no one asks...I've had a few friends though that found some scribbled notes on my desk and did some research and were trippin...one was looking at one of my sites and didn't know what my connection was to the site but clicked on a link and saw a variation of my name in the link when it came up and almost shit himself. He wants in on the action...but I tell them the truth, which is that it's more than just pussy and beer, it's actually accounting, creativity, dedication, and discipline...most are all talk...my wife just doesn't want her family to find out...other than that, we could give a fuck...

Aspire 2007-10-27 12:54 PM

You really do just have to use your best judgement with who you tell. Why work people up when you can say internet marketing or web developer? I told my dad about it and he pretty much told everyone in the neighbourhood and most of the family, we all just ignore the fact.

I'm more uncomfortable when people ask to see my sites. Usually they are impressed if I do end up showing them off, but something about it just seems strange to me.

XxxMina 2007-10-27 01:41 PM

I judge by whether or not they deserve the truth, and whether or not it will activate any stalker/creepy tendancies and become a safety issue -- and even then I soft-pedal the fact that I'm "talent" and generally stick to "I run a few sites". Strangers/neighbors/bank tellers get "internet marketing."

Whether or not those who get the truth get "uncomfortable" doesn't really matter to me.

Yep...they don't need that much honestly, lol.

The odd "friend of a friend" got just a LITTLE too excited for awhile about knowing "Mina" personally, but eventually when I never comfirmed any of their sterotypical assumptions about "webgirls", they got over it.

Otherwise, most worth the truth know just enough, don't want details, and that suits me fine. My parents have had their moments but seem to prefer to focus their thoughts on the fact that I can support and take care of myself honestly, without being beholden to anyone. And the fact that I present what I do (with the limited explanation I offer) as the business it is and don't act like a hooker probably helps. Presentation makes a big difference, in my experience.
