They finally pulled Howard Stern off the air

This better be a fucking April Fools Joke.

Chicago's replacement is "Cross and Lopez - Fun without the filth". A family show. Playing shitty easy listening music and ripping off Howard's bits.

This has to be a joke. Kinda like..."See what Radio will be like when we're gone", type of thing.

The scary thing is, that this is what Radio will be like if conservatives and Religious kooks have there way.

Get out and vote people, they'll be gunning for internet porn next.

Cleo 2004-04-01 08:14 AM

Freedom of the press as long as nothing is said that is offensive I guess.

There is that little country that the US invaded and now has shut down their press.

Dr Bizzaro 2004-04-01 08:21 AM

Ok, it was a joke. They are back... Whew.

Greenguy 2004-04-01 08:30 AM

You are such a dork :D

There's always Mancow :D

Dr Bizzaro 2004-04-01 08:44 AM

Well, in light of the ACTUAL threat of them getting pulled off the air, that was pretty believeable.

The joke will eventually be on all of us when they DO pull him off the air.

Better start shopping for XM. I head he's trying to put together his own network on it.

Cleo 2004-04-01 08:53 AM

I don't like him, I think he is degrading to his guests, but I do watch him sometimes on late night TV if something catches my attention.

If things keep on going the way they are I can see them actually taking him off the air. It will be a very sad day if they ever do.

Hoping that the shrubbery will get removed for the US government…

MrMaryLou 2004-04-01 08:54 AM

Howard Rocks :)

Torn Rose 2004-04-01 09:13 AM

Bob and Tom are my fav, funny w/o being degrading to guest.

Greenguy 2004-04-01 09:49 AM

You people are worried about degrading material?

You're pornographers, for Christ sakes! :D

Dr Bizzaro 2004-04-01 10:01 AM

I am worried about the government telling me what I should or should not be listening to.

This is some scary shit.

Radio, TV, The Internet, Books, CD's, Movies..... This list goes on and on.
Once the conservative/holy-roller bang wagon, gets rolling, where will it stop?

Where the fuck are the ACLU on this matter? Or other personalities in the industry? Or anyone else involved who will be affected?

This is unbelieveable how no one is even talking about this.

Torn Rose 2004-04-01 10:33 AM

If people want to go on Stern to be degraded, then that's their choice, no one can say “I didn't know" it’s like smoking, people have known for years it will kill you, just as he’s been an ass for years.

I think the FCC and Powell JR has been listening too much to daddies boss on it and needs to butt out, just read this morning that Powell JR wants the broadcasters to get their own “code of conduct”, if they don't they won't like the one the government gives them.

Nice.

I personally do not like the humor of degrading someone; I just don't think it's funny. I'm not into the "jackass" style of humor. They have the right to do it, I'd just prefer to watch and laugh at something funny, I sure as hell do not write the FCC and cry or whatever, I simply change the channel.

But I do think it’s funny that Stern had his fans call and complain about Oprah. And just the other night watching “Law and Order SVU” they said and shown the word “Dickweed” on a pc. This is the double standards BS that gets me.

Years ago, MTV censored out the girl flipping off the camera in the Aerosmith video, BUT the very next video was Pearl Jam and they clearly say “Crazy little Fuck….”

I agree with Dr B, this needs to be a bigger issue, and I’m hoping as it gets closer to the elections it will be. King George the 2nd’s record on free speech is getting worse on a daily bases.

The more I think about it, the more I wonder if we really do live in a free country. Seems govt' wants to be everyone's parents these days and well.. if I don't like what I see or hear.. I just turn the knob or press the button. Getting Bush and his top-notch gang of 'problem solvers' cleaned out in November is a perfect start. |thumb

This is the heart of the matter, the radio spectrum.
Only so many stations etc....
I'm guessing the FCC doesn't have much of an answer here. My guess, he'll be on XM real soon.
Too may listeners to ignore.
So buy XM stock now.. LOL

Censorship? I don't think so, I think he knows what he's doing.
(though I've never listened to him)

You can't show a tit on ABC, but you can on HBO.. that's where he is headed, but Free PR will make that easier.

guitar riff 2004-04-02 07:37 AM

I say Bring Back OPIE and ANTHONY

urb 2004-04-02 07:44 AM

Does Howard Stern's show play on the net?

Cleo 2004-04-02 07:51 AM

Look at his website http://www.howardstern.com/

Dr Bizzaro 2004-04-02 08:12 AM

This isn't about the Howard Stern show. It's about the Government bowing down to the kooks and deciding what we should and shouldn't be listening to. It's called Free Speech.

People on radio fearing what they can and can't say, because being levied up to a $3 million dollar a day fine, sounds a bit like our government strong-arming us into listening to what they think is appropriate. I believe I would like that choice myself.
This is America. (Although I am starting to wonder, with all the people just sitting idly by.)

Here is the link to the ACLU website (finally) to complain about this act that is being "fast tracked" in congress right now.
You can send a fax or email right through their site to your senator. 2 clicks and it's sent.

In honer of Howard Stern I'll be doing Universal Studios nekkid this weekend and being an asshole to anyone under 5 feet tall or who has very large breasts.

Yeah just because you don't like what someone has to say isn't a reason to try to take them off the air, just change the fucking channel.

guitar riff 2004-04-02 08:52 PM

LOL i like that Cleo I think Ill have to fly to Universal to see that (Wink)

But I undderstand Your point too Dr B.
Just when ya Though US was Umm Free "Cough" "Cough"

We are in more of a dictatorship Now than Ever before.

SeeNudity 2004-04-03 02:13 PM

He was pulled from the Kentucky radio channels about two months ago. I think it is the Clearchannel network. I heard they got hit with some fines over the show. It makes for a boring ride to work.
