That would be correct so why do you have links opening in new windows?

chaldoray 2003-09-27 03:01 PM

Which links were opening in a new window?

chaldoray 2003-09-27 03:43 PM

I fixed it cleo, can you add my site?

Cleo 2003-09-27 03:51 PM

It's not fixed

chaldoray 2003-09-27 03:55 PM

which links are opening in a new window?

Cleo 2003-09-27 03:59 PM

Go away

jennym 2003-09-27 04:10 PM

your pic links are opening in a new window, but I wouldn't worry about it to much. Cleo has never sent me more than 2 or 3 hits anyway.

chaldoray 2003-09-27 04:17 PM

"Go away" ?
Wtf?
Ok fine later, i guess you don't want me submitting to you

jennym 2003-09-27 04:25 PM

Hey chaldoray,
If you need a new link list to submit to, you can try one of mine.

http://adultlinkpost.com
http://freepicssex.com

Right now we are changing hosts (thanks to Extreme John for the recommendation!), so we are having problems with the submit forms. You can email me site info to

staff@adultlinkpost.com
staff@freepicssex.com

I hope to have all problems worked out with hosting next week, and I will list your sites.

Jennifer

what?????

noooze 2003-09-29 09:35 AM

yeah. I guess i wasnt any good when i presented my first couple of free sites. anyway - i finally got it and cleo listed me |bananna|

Cleo 2003-09-29 09:44 AM

You know I have pretty much the same rules as all of the other major link lists.

To be honest I don't really give a shit if anyone likes my rules or not as I get way more submissions then I need. I am nice enough to explain to someone why I declined them.

I don't have time for someone that puts target_blank in all of their pages like chaldoray did and then keep on asking me what is wrong.

noooze 2003-09-29 09:49 AM

I must say two things.

First of all - I like you cleo and I think most people in here allso like you |smooch|

second thing is that LLs need to have rules to keep some kind of quality. I read some where that out of the 2500 linklist out there, only 1/10 was woth submitting to, due to owners keeping the quality. So if you can read the rules too bad, if your not good enough to get listed, try harder.

notthing more to say

|afro|

Cleo 2003-09-29 09:56 AM

Thank you noooze. |smooch|

I don't think people realize how much time and money is spent running a link list.

I spend many hours each week doing reviews, I also pay Luna to help run Cleo's, many more hours each week chasing after cheaters and removing dead links. On all of the stuff that I build I give up a sponsor slot to promote my link list as well.

I don't like declining people at all. It just makes more work for me.

My rules are there to help make my link list a quality link list, not to piss off anyone.

HornyHeather 2003-09-30 08:35 AM

Ya Know, Over about a year ago now, Greenguy and Danger Dave taught me so much about getting listed, I used to sit here with my hands on my head in disgust cause I couldnt figure it out, Now It just seems so obvious, I never go on the boards now to ask why one of my sites didnt get listed, I just go back and review my site, and always find the problem, sometimes if the problem is something I want to be there, then I dont ask for a link trade. Seems simple to me

noooze, is right, when you do get listed, you have finally understood how it all works! :)

Just a thought....wait a day after decline, go back to your site and pretend to be Cleo with her list of rules, you will find the problem...:)

Well said Heather :)

HornyHeather, what if, about a year ago, Greenguy and DangerDave had just said "go away"?

Putting target blank in the header of all of your pages and then putting target self on any links that you think the webmaster might click on is right up there with putting timed consoles or redirects on your pages.

It isn't like chaldoray doesn't know his code seeing as I have seen his post on PHP.

I have no problem helping a newbie, but when I feel like someone is trying to throw shade or just being an asshole I have no more time for them.

HornyHeather 2003-09-30 12:32 PM

spacemanspiff, Nobody said that to me but I did go away for awhile when I got frustrated, and in that process I keep reading linking rules and tutorials, and learning like I still am, and they get listed now. God knows none of us are perfect, or make a site everyone will like, but after awhile you tend to just "Catch On" to what everyone has been telling you! :)

chaldoray 2003-09-30 07:56 PM

Hmm. I am a newbie in this free site stuff. But i am geting it i am not a newbie in PHP, if that's what your trying to say. |rasta|

SpacemanS, many webmasters take 'a site being declined' as a personal insult... when if they stepped back and looked objectively they could easily see why the site was not listed..

I know I see sites from webmasters that once submitted to me, and got declined.... that would now be completely listable.... as they have refined they site building techniques..

... but they dont submit them to me becuase they think I have some vendetta against them... :(

I would like to list every single site submitted to me.. if I could.. but the rules in place at any link list(of note) are there for a reason. Ok some of those reasons can be obscure.. but sometimes you have to live with that..

Want my traffic... abide by my rules.. Same would apply for your lists wouldnt it?

DD

chaldoray 2003-09-30 08:56 PM

DD, I listed my new sites with you www.babesoncams.com/slutbus and www.babesoncams.com/realdrunkgirls and i don't ever get a response from you saying if my site's get declined. So how would i know they get declined?

jennym 2003-09-30 08:57 PM

I am not sure why this turned to a conversation about rules. I personally don't have any problems with most rules. I agree - each person has an absolute right to make their own rules. What really took me by suprise was that Cleo simply told Chaldoray to "Go Away". I know she had told him that links were still opening in a new page, but sometimes when you look at a site too long, you just pass some things up. It would have taken about 10 seconds to tell him that his pics were the ones still opening in a new page.

DangerDave 2003-09-30 09:15 PM

chaldoray,

I dont send rejection emails anymore... they just attract stupid hate mail..:(

It is YOUR job to see if you got listed.. either by looking at the traffic your site gets or checking my new list. Except on very rare occasions I update every single day.. so if you are not there after two days... you aint gonna magically appear.:)

Then it is your job to come here.. and ask why.... and I think you got those sites declined by most lists. for mostly the same reasons... 404's, new windows, etc.. Also I do NOT list sites that have the same name as the sponsor.. and I believe most dont.

jennym, I can see why Cleo got frustrated when the most simple rules are broken repeatedly.. It is the webmasters responsibility to check the site submitted..

I made a free site the other day..(woohoo!), and I triple checked it.. all links, linkbotted it, checked the sponsor links, the pic links etc, and got two other people to look over it.... BEFORE I SUBMITTED IT.. it has been accepted everywhere so far.:)

DD

Cleo 2003-09-30 09:32 PM

Newbie puts trarget_blank on links not knowing better. Someone that knows what they are doing puts target_blank in their page header and then masks the fact by then putting target_self on the links that the reviewer is likely to click.

Am I being cynical? Maybe I am, but if you saw the amount of crap that comes in each day on top of the cheaters and all the other crap anyone will get cynical.

Anyone remember the web master a few months ago that I caught with the timed redirects? I just loved it when he explained how they fell into the header of his pages.

It's no wonder that so many places no longer send out decline e-mails.

jennym 2003-09-30 09:35 PM

DD - I do the same thing with the sites I build. I think this has gotten to pissy. I am really not a pissy person, so I don't want to give that impression. I am not trying to bash anyone, it just kind of suprised me a bit, that's all. But, I guess we all have our moments....lord knows I do!!

Greenguy 2003-09-30 09:36 PM

This may piss a few people off, but "Go away" has to be the funniest fucking reply I've ever seen on any board :D

chaldoray 2003-09-30 09:43 PM

DD, your talking about when i put in the site title to submit to you that i can't put the same sponsor name for the title ? Or how it put it on my site for the title?

jennym, that we do... but I believe we are all friends here.

Chaldoray, neither your site HTML title or your actual site title or the submitted title should be the same as the sponsor.

The premise being..... YOUR site is not "Slut Bus" the site you are PROMOTING is "Slut Bus"

Your site title should describe YOUR SITE not your SPONSOR.

eg :

Site = Back Seat Asian Fuck
Sponsor = Slut Bus

Site = Drunk Girls get naked
Sponsor = Real Drunk Girls

GG.. must admit I had a giggle... and I knew exactly what Cleo meant. :D
