Hey - you have the Quick Reply box now. Very cool.

Cleo 2005-01-20 06:05 PM

For some odd reason clicking on the smilies doesn't insert them into the message anymore. :(

Greenguy 2005-01-20 06:08 PM

Click the "Enhanced Mode" thingy right above the text box on the Advanced Reply page & the smileys will work :)

Cleo 2005-01-20 06:14 PM

I have Enhanced Mode checked.

Actually none of the links work, like I am unable to upload an image.

I notice that when I mouse over stuff everything reads "Go to # on this page" in the status bar so I'm guessing that there is an unclosed element someplace in the page's code.

On the posting page I see that there is two opening body tags.

Greenguy 2005-01-20 06:27 PM

So I need to throw a couple 's in there?

Help me out here, you & your silly browser :D

Cleo 2005-01-20 06:33 PM

My browser is not loading the javascript library so the functions on the posting window do not work.

Hard to say what it is but having two opening body tags on the page is not a good.

Greenguy 2005-01-20 06:44 PM

I think I found it - fucking headers & footers

Did that fix it Cleo?

Cleo 2005-01-20 07:09 PM

You still have two opening Body tags but I think it is something else.

I went to vBulletin's board to see if it was an issue with their software or something that you did. I don't have posting permissions on their board even after registering but I was able to do testing on the edit sig page and it is something that you did.

This page doesn't work.
http://www.greenguysboard.com/board/...editsignature#

This page works properly.
http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/profi...=editsignature

As far as I can tell whatever javascript library that needs to be loaded in order for the smilies and other javascript functions to work is not loading since none of these things work on GG&J's page but they all work properly on vBulletin's page.

i'm getting the little java alert on the bottom left of my browser.

How is it again that a browser that is so unforgiving is better than one that is not?

Greenguy 2005-01-20 07:21 PM

Oh WTF!!!!!!! |banghead|

Useless 2005-01-20 07:25 PM

Damn java onload thingy. I believe there is a way to use a single onload declaration for two separate functions, but I'd be damned to remember how. That's probably why they added the second body tag. Those java onloads sometimes don't play well together.

It's working fine in FF 1.0 under XP. |headbang|

Useless 2005-01-20 07:30 PM

If it is the onload problem, here's a quicky tutorial http://www.wsabstract.com/javatutors...plejava3.shtml
Ex:

SCRIPT 2:
RESOLUTION:

HC-Majick 2005-01-20 07:32 PM

it looks like it could the onload event. line 320.

Cleo 2005-01-20 07:32 PM

Actually the page is loading completely blank in Mac IE due to the two body tags.

HC-Majick 2005-01-20 07:44 PM

i looked at one of my sites that preloads images, and the onload tag doesnt use the semi colon for a single event. like UW posted above.
line 319 now:

Cleo 2005-01-20 07:48 PM

I'm not a big fan of the javascript that is suppose to preload images.

I've never seen any real difference in how images load with or without it and it just adds a bunch of code to the pages.

Because then you can catch code errors.

This is why I use IE to do reviews and not Safari.

A properly coded page doesn't need its errors fixed.

All browsers handle bad code different. It is just a case of which bit of bad code is going to tip off which browser. There is no such thing as a browser that fixes all bad code.

What really sucks is when a page doesn't load correctly in some browser because it is trying to "fix" you code.

A perfect browser is one that handles code exactly as the standards call for.
