Freesite review wanted !

Hi everyone,

I have been reading the boards for a while and I would like to start posting freesites.

I was thinking of starting with freesites like this one:
http://www.blinkingcow.net/fs/1/index.html

Could anyone give me some advice/ input to improve this freesite ?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Okay, okay,
I just read this thread:
http://www.greenguysboard.com/board/...ad.php?t=15467

My lazy ass made the landingpage and the mainpage partly myself and partly with some material of my sponsor.
The galleries behind the site are just copied from my sponsor. I liked them pretty much so I thought let's make life easy.
After reading the mentioned thread I realize that I am a lazy fuck.
I'll go back to the drawingtable.

Any extra tips and advice would be greatly appriciated !

The 1st 2 pages are over 800 wide (because the graphics on top are 765 & 750 is probably the max you want to use)

Your recips need to go above the enter link, so you might want to get rid of the 1st "ENTER THE SITE"

2nd pages looks to have 4 ads from my POV - you might want to get rid of one of them.

Thanks for your input Greenguy. I will change things for the better.

What do you mean by POV ?

ladydesigner 2005-02-02 08:52 AM

POV= Point of View?

Greenguy 2005-02-02 08:56 AM

Yes, from my Point Of View :)

cow 2005-02-02 11:12 AM

OK, you have a point there :-)

RawAlex 2005-02-02 11:29 AM

yes... a point of view :-)

I just wanted to underline my 50th post with a little bit of bullshit. ;)

You also have an iframe on your index+main page, some accept it, some don't - I don't.
You have no control over what's being loaded in the iframe. If they decide to pop a dialer there one day, then you are the one that will get blacklisted.

The gallery pages also has more than 3 ads.

caringneo 2005-02-03 07:36 AM

Your galler pages have lot of outgoing links. Most linklists will allow only 3 out going links per page.

Thanks for all advice here.

The advice on the Geotargeted iframe is also very usefull. I will stop using this in the future. I know what you mean.
Although in this case this is an iframe of AFF and I think they won't trick with it. But you are right Swedguy.

I changed it for the better I think:

The 765 wide image on the top of the 1st 2 pages is still causing it to go over 800 wide.

You're going to have to edit those images & make them smaller or find different ones to use.

Oh, I though I changed this for the better (I didn't change the image itself though). I'll look into it again. Thanks.

I already posted 2 sites to about 6 linklists. So I will not be too surprised if they will be rejected :-)
I know I may not change TGP gallerypages after they are submitted. Does this also apply for free sites ?

Sponsor links open in a new window

Thumb file sizes well oversized

Thanks Wazza, I'll go work on that too.

Can I change the existing sites or shall I leave them as they are?

Yes you can change FS post listing (LLs aren't quite as rigid as TGPs*... yet) - but I'd take what you've learned on this project and reinvest that in a new site.

*plus there's a number of legitimate and acceptable reasons to modify a FS - with galleries that are duplicated hundreds of times a change generally only means one thing... I have no issue with the "shoot first, ask questions later" approach of TGPs

Hey guys,

I rebuild almost the complete sites.

What I did:
- Recompressed the jpegs/ thumbnails.
- Changed the width of the complete site to fit it into an 800 window.
- Changed all the target=new window links.

Thank you all for your input.

The endresults are:
http://www.blinkingcow.net/fs/1/index.html
http://www.blinkingcow.net/fs/2/index.html

So, now I would like to test these on humans :-)

Greenguy, would you want to link to these sites ?
I posted them last week through your form.

Thanks in advance for reconsidering.

Your sites are still scrolling for me. To keep that from happening, you should keep your tables & graphics at at width of 745 or less.

I can't believe what I am reading.
I made screendumps of my screen and together with my right scrollbar it is just below 800 pixels.
But to be absolutely sure of to get rid of this "800 width" I'll go work on that once more.
Thanks.

Index page is fine, there is problem on main page - I guess that is becouse of 'all internal' banner: 760x247 px

cow 2005-02-06 09:40 AM

I rebuild the index and the index2 pages and made them 740 width.
I pray to god that it is OK now. It would be nice to start working on a few new ones :-)

I recognized that you are using times new roman on your site. Next time I would choose another more screen friendly font like verdana or so. Itīs a lot better to read on the screen.

Your sites look very well, though. |thumb

Fonz 2005-02-07 07:27 AM

You probably should put a title on your site, some linklists (like LOR) require this. Put one on the page itself not only in your tag.<br /> <br /> Oh yeah, and try to be a little original with that title, "hot teen sex" is on auto decline mode now these days :)</div> </td> </tr> </table> <br /><table class="tborder" cellpadding="6" cellspacing="1" border="0" width="100%"> <tr> <td class="page"> <table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0" width="100%"> <tr valign="bottom"> <td style="font-size:14pt">cow</td> <td class="smallfont" align="right">2005-02-07 07:44 AM</td> </tr> </table> <hr /> <div><div style="margin:20px; margin-top:5px; "> <div class="smallfont" style="margin-bottom:2px">Quote:</div> <table cellpadding="6" cellspacing="0" border="0" width="100%"> <tr> <td class="alt2"> <hr /> You probably should put a title on your site, some linklists (like LOR) require this.
