Anyone from Britain here?
I'm amazed at how many Brits I have encountered on the board and around the last couple of days.
It's strange how many have come out of the woodwork since the Random Member Contest was held at a UK friendly time. Maybe the British just prefer to lurk? |
Lurk or do what the US tells them to do, urb :)
|
I'm just killing time while my hard drive slows down for a Norton scan. :)
|
Getting kind of late over there, isn't it?

I don't like to stress my hard drive during the day :) |
My ancestors are from Ireland & Scottland - do I count? :)
|
I liked the Beetles when I was a little girl

My family is Irish/Italian, so I ain't really a Brit, except I was born here. |
Oddly enough, you are correct Urb - there is a little Welch in me as well :)

Incidentally, it's 'Welsh' not 'Welch' And I'm not British - I'm English :D |

I must tune in to the radio show one of these days

I ate beans on toast once. Can I be an honorary Brit?
I do think the English beer is so good and nourishing that you can live off of it. Which is the only reason the Brits survive because you can’t eat the food sober :) Actually if you know the name of the oldest house in Edinborough then you know my last name but I'm a Virginian. |
One of my passports says that I am a british citizen... gotta love how that all works.
:-) Alex |
Me is a Brit, lived all my life in London, England. Although I intend to move near the sea in a few years time, I could never live more that a short train journey from London (one of the great things about Britain is that it is a thin enough island that everywhere is no more that a couple of hours drive from the coast, so I got several hundred miles of coastline that's within an hour of London by train).
|
SirMoby - While I agree with your comments on British beer (one of the reasons I would never live in America is our difference in what we call "beer") you are obviously no foodie. Go pick up the latest issue of the magazine "Gourmet", which is an American magazine dedicated to food. The March issue is dedicated to the city that the publishers feel is the city with "the best restaurants on the planet". That city is London, England.
|
I'm a Brit :D
|
cfnmparty- OK, so it is 5.30 in the middle of the night, what are you doing up and posting.
|
Hehe, 5 am-ish is my getting up time - weekends I finish work at 11am so that still gives me a good 6 hours to get some stuff done
|
Speaking of the Welsh and CFNM ... did you know that the whole male stripper cfnm internet thing started in Swansea, Wales? :)
Both the Loverboysusa.com and what used to be the Serial Thrillas (now 4CFNM.com) originate from the same town. |

Maybe they do have some great restaurants that they’ve imported from other countries but there’re also top recipes like mushy peas to deal with :) The British beer is the best in world but I'll never admit that while in Germany or Belgium. |
Hell man, how old are you, "mushy peas" went out of fashion decades ago. Only grandparents (and great grandparents) still eat them (and possibly a few Northerners, but they always were behind the times, and most decidedly uncivilised).
|
Hey Urb :)
Yeah I knew that, what self respecting cfnm promoter wouldn't ;) Seriously, I actually thought you were a Brit, can't remember why exactly, think you done some design work for Iceman? Either way good to meet you |shake| |

You can still get mushy peas in Lancashire from a decent chippy (assuming you can find one that isn't Chinese that is). You can still get Black Pudding as well, which is a traditional health food where I come from :D |

I think your second paragraph contradicts your first one. :)
|
My last post referred to your one that began "Well, I'm a Northerner from Lancashire and although I might admit to being behind the times, I don't think I'm uncivilised.", your beer one appeared while I was typing my reply. However "in the South it's warm and comes with no head. I can't drink it." puts you firmly on the uncivilised list. :)
But I will allow that one of the two good things coming out of the North is Newcastle Brown Ale. (The other good thing coming out of the North is the Southbound carriage of the M1 :)) |
Quote:
So the other good thing coming out of the 'North' should really be the A1 and not the M1 - the M1 stops of course at Leeds. Which nicely lets me conclude with the best thing coming out of Yorkshire is the westbound carriageway of the M62 :D |
Well I'm English as well. Some of the best beer is in the South from breweries like Hook Norton and Cheriton, but that's closer to wine that head banging heavy stuff (although that's here as well). The food can be stunning if you move away from McDonalds and other fast food stuff. The influence of French, Italian, Chinese and Japanese cuisine has created some quite wonderful restaurants.
|
RE: "So the other good thing coming out of the 'North' should really be the A1" - Well you said it, not me. But it is nice to see a Northerner agreeing with the Southern view of the North. :)
|
The north is great - I loved Islington. :D
|
Yeah
|
how about the far north - Luton :D
|
God save the Queen... |king|
