'Star Wars' fans wait at wrong theater

Still, the resolute "Star Wars" die-hards aren't moving on. Beneath a makeshift awning, 11 people refused to relinquish their spots in line.

"We've heard all this before," fan Sarah Sprague said, noting there were plenty of rumors in 1999 and 2002 that previous "Star Wars" movies weren't opening at the Chinese Theater. The rumors were false and the films were shown there.

I just finished the book yesterday, awesome story and this will be the best of all 6 movies..... But 7 weeks????

I refuse to wait 10 mins in line at the right movie theater let alone 7 weeks in the wrong one...

Jel 2005-04-07 01:44 AM

Man, I can't wait til I get my hands on a pirated version on DVD :D
I'm like you, 10 minutes in the right queue and I'm ready to blow lol

Seriously, can't wait until it get's released over here :D

Mishi 2005-04-07 05:45 AM

Star Wars, Schmar Wars. Hitchhikers opens the 29th! |bananna|

Jimmy O 2005-04-07 05:48 AM

Is the trailer out yet?

Ramster 2005-04-07 08:38 AM

7 weeks in line? damn!

This movie is going to be so good I think. Can't wait.

Cleo 2005-04-07 08:46 AM

Guess the Force wasn't with them

I really liked the last one, hated the first one, this one does look like it will be good.

Greenguy 2005-04-07 09:27 AM

I am a huge Star Wars fan but there's no way in fucking hell I'm waiting in line to see the movie - fucking morons.

I'll wait til it's out 3 or 4 weeks & then go on a Wednesday afternoon when the theater is empty so that I don't have to be annoyed by "people" while I enjoy my |popcorn|

This does remind me that I want to watch I & II before I see III :)

JanTM 2005-04-07 09:29 AM

Damn are they going to look stupid if the movies doesn't show in that theatre :)

Greenguy 2005-04-07 09:30 AM

They look stupid now, regardless of if the movie plays there or not :D

Mr. Blue 2005-04-07 10:19 AM

Waiting for the DVD...I don't need a bunch of nimrods with plastic lightsabers and Jedi powers of nerdiness to add ambiance to my movie going experience.

Jimmy O 2005-04-07 11:46 AM

I'm gonna see it in the cinema...
Usually they have the "watch all three and get a free beer and popcorn for a cheap price" here in Denmark, so I'm gonna do that a week after the premier.
7 hours of starwars, that's not bad!

Not gonna wait till the dvd thats for sure, some movies are made to be seen at the big picture :D
Revenge of the sith is one of 'em

Can't wait |pink

plateman 2005-04-07 11:53 AM

I also love star wars and have the DVD box set and I seen the trailer on tv last night and it look killer - cant wait either

SirMoby 2005-04-07 12:44 PM

I think I might wait 7 minutes in line but if I waited much longer then that I'd have to wait until it came out on DVD.

May the force be with you

Jim 2005-04-07 12:46 PM

I just can't get interested in the newer Star Wars movies.

wow.... so YOU'RE the other guy back there :D

Torn Rose 2005-04-07 02:25 PM

watching the news a guy was wearing Jedi robes and holding a lightsaber.... which looked good, except for the fact he was also dressed as a M&M.... yes the candy M&M in a Jedi Robe....

I honestly do not remember where I saw this, but someone posted a blog that had pictures of all these geeks at Star Wars conventions.... and they hammered a guy who went as Spiderman

Classic.

dareutwo 2005-04-07 09:44 PM

I'll wait for the DVD - September 09 perhaps??
No biggie, I'll find it.

Joe 2005-04-10 05:39 PM

I was disappointed (I know other fans were too) at Ep I, and Ep II.

Hopefully, Ep III will make up for it.

I saw the spoilers for it, and it looked a bit iffy-- But we'll see.

Btw, here's a link to the Ep III trailers: http://www.movie-list.com/trailers.php?id=starwars3

JanTM 2005-04-10 05:57 PM

The trailer looks like a dark and more evil movies... I love it already :D
Although I wont stand in line for a ticket on the opening night... I'll be in the theatre as soon as possible thereafter.

ecchi 2005-04-11 06:54 AM

When the film opens over here, I'll just pick up the 'phone and book by credit card. No queue no wait. Don't you guys have CC booking in America ?

Are you actually serious?

No, we don't have CC booking -- I have no clue why, but it's a good idea.

ecchi 2005-04-11 07:34 AM

Wow, for once the UK is ahead of the US, don't think that has happened since we invented TV !

I would probably go out a lot less if I could not book for films, shows, and events in advance by 'phone, I hate queueing.

Kinky 2005-04-11 07:40 AM

you can buy tickets online in the US... my cousin-in-law is the biggest star wars freak on the planet, has 2 bedrooms in his house dedicated to it, and laughs at the people in line and buys his tix online and gets in the first show somehow

cd34 2005-04-11 11:27 AM

many movie chains have online tickets. Fandango.com is one of the larger ones, but, most theater chains have their own. Regal (Regal, UA, Edwards) uses fandango.com and Muvico handles its own ticket sales. I think AMC sells through moviewatcher.com.

If its a chain, you can probably order the tickets online. When you get to the theaters around here, you can also use your credit card on an ATM-like touchscreen to buy tickets.

Fonz 2005-04-11 02:19 PM

I heard the movie comes out in Belgium, France and a few other European countries 1 day before it comes out in the rest of the world :)

ecchi 2005-04-11 05:26 PM

RE: "I heard the movie comes out in Belgium, France and a few other European countries 1 day before it comes out in the rest of the world" Sort of. Lucus tends to release his films all over the world at once, but because the time is different in different countries, it gets to be a bit earlier in some places. I love the people who spend a fortune to fly to Britain just to be in the "first showing". A few hours later and it would be showing in their country, but no, they cannot wait and spend thousands of dollars to see about 5 hours sooner.

koolkat 2005-04-11 06:32 PM

So... if it does actually show there, their nasty asses will stink so bad after waiting in line for 7 weeks that no one will want to even be in the same theatre as them! Wouldn't their be some loitering ordinance to get the geeks off the sidewalk. Don't get me wrong. I love Star Wars (have the box set and all the prequels), but these are some fucking morons!!! |pokefun|

spookyx 2005-04-12 07:56 AM

we could all pay gabbo lots of money to wait in line for us.

No really, the movie comes out on tuesday here while in most countries it comes out on wednesday...
Ah well, I probably wait to go see that movie when it's playing for 2 months or so.

ecchi 2005-04-12 10:36 AM

Yes, I shall probably wait a couple of months too, because I hope to see it on the BFI Imax (Britain's largest screen), and they tend not to show films until a couple of months after first release.

Ill just do what I did with the last one. The day it comes out go to like the mid-noon show. From what I've seen in the past movies most of the nuts for that movie are there at 1st showing and the 1st weekend nights its open. Last movie i went to the 1:30 pm show and there were like 20 people there. I guess most people don't want to take the day off for a movie. I'm a big fan as you can tell from the avatar but not to the point where I would wait in line for anything that long.

ecchi 2005-05-04 11:14 PM

Yes, I love the afternoon shows too, back in the 70s and 80s when cinemas were a lot less popular, it was not unusual for me to be the only person in the cinema.

But watch out for school holidays. A film like Star Wars is going to be a popular place for parents to send kids to during the day. And half a dozen kids can cause more disturbance that an army of drunks with packets of crisps and mobile phones.

Torn Rose 2005-05-05 03:59 PM

We finally got the DVD box set last Friday and watched them this past weekend, been such a long time since I've seen them all.

But that got me thinking, I remember seeing a Star Wars TV show when I was a kid, so I did a search and here it is!

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0193524/

I just got my VHS copy today! I was 8 when this came out, and I have just a few memories of it, I wasn’t even sure if the memories were even real, but I do remember thinking as a kid, that this was just a crappy show.

I watched 3 mins today to make sure it was working and laughed since it is so BAD!

Can't wait for Toni to get home!

Anyone else remember Lumpy? :D

ecchi 2005-05-05 04:22 PM

Well there's your problem right there : "Writing credits - Pat Proft"
