How Is Your Blog Coming Along?
 

Curious as to how people are coming along that have been inspired by this forum or by my tutorial to get started.

How goes it?

Your tutorial inspired me to do a blog. I was thinking about it for some time, but your tutorial was something like a kick in the ass :) I'm thinking about the ways to get additional traffic (I get 70 uniques daily and slowly growing)

Hey blind, its a good start. :) I've checked back at your blog a few times and am pretty impressed with how its going over there. It looks good. I think with a few more link swaps you'll be finding your traffic will grow a bookmark base pretty fast. I'm glad its coming along nice for you. Also glad to see that poll you installed, its definately a great way to get people to come back to your site if they like voting or want to see the results.

I've had mine on LiveJournal for about 3 years & that does pretty well. I will be keeping that one after I switch over to the wordpress for my site, I just have way too much invested there.

I'm slowly learning how to get the wordpress set up the way I want it around my other projects. It a huge difference on learning.

I'm probably going to start posting there to get something going in the way of content while adjusting it.

I'm excited to get it started :)

I'm enjoying it. At least the writing part, can't say I am enjoying the plugin or figuring out how to make things work part.

It was mentioned to not ask people for link trades until you have posted some, what do you think is a good amount of post before you ask for trades?

After roughly 2 weeks into the test I'm convinced :D

What I really have to overcome now is my writing block.
I can have the best of both worlds. I just bring pen and paper to the beach. Hangout in the sun with my feet in the water with a pen and paper in my hand writing todays update. I like |thumb

Writing is easy for me, if I ever get writers block I can make fun of greenguy or something.

Scripts on the other hand I am starting to get pissed at, I tried to download Toni's LJ and once again, the directions are 1/2 assed.

Boogie no worries on the 30 days thing, I do not blame you for that rule, but I will hit you up on ICQ tonight after the audio show.

Mine's going much better, mainly because I'm getting a bit more focus going on. Took me long enough as it's just over a year old. Now I just have to find more free time to play with my 3d stuff hehe..

This forum is helping me "blog network".. webmasters I recognize and would allow to trackback/comment on mine and hopefully let me do the same. Haven't had time to mess with any additional plugins, but reading about Torn being attacked by the smilies was pretty funny ;)

Well i have a different blog for everything.. my LJ which started out as a personal one gets so much traffic that i turned it into a semi porn blog tho i still RANT away. But its my #1 referrer so I guess its working.

My biggest problem is that i'm a huge fan of originality so i don't like to cross post and prefer to write new in each one, which sometimes causes lags on the updates.

But otherwise blogging for dollars is alive and well.

Ahhhh nothing like converting the non-believers.. YEARS of arm twisting and poking in the ass with a big stick to get you to blog.
"no i don't want to" "what will i write about" "i can't" ...

I'm tickled pink right now. Torn figured out a few things for our links with the template I wanted to use & that helped me to set up my blog the way I wanted with my personal touches & links.

Once Torn is able to import my entries from LJ, we can then make the katvixen/blog the main one on my site.

Alright, got most of what I want done for it (http://www.katvixen.com/Blog/ )

Now the only thing that is bothering me about it is I'm wanting to add a personal pic/banner touch. So now I need to figure out how to do that.

I did want to ask if any one knew of a plugin where you can use avators for your posts?

I do believe there is a plugin that does this. Check the http://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page wordpress codex.

If you cant find one there check the wordpress support forum. :)

I'm pretty sure that there are plenty of plugins that do this, especially sites for multiple posters, and I've seen ones for a different avatar/iamge for each category as well. if you still cant find anything feel free to icq me.

This is kind of interesting. I looked at Greg's Porn Blog and found the same problem I have with Boogie's. The side bar links are too small for me to read. I figured it must be something Wordpress does. I disabled cascading style sheets, which moves the side bar stuff down to the bottom of the page. That made the links readable. So I looked at the style sheet to see what was there that would cause a problem for me. I'm guessing that the problem is the font. It looks like the sheet uses a font called Lucida Grande for the side bar. Since I don't have that font installed on my computer, Internet Explorer is substituting something else which displays too small for me to read.

It seems a little surprising that Wordpress would use a font that doesn't come with Windows. I always stay away from that temptation on my own websites because I don't know what it will look like to people who don't have the same font installed.

Does anybody know where I can get a free copy of the lucida grande font for Windows? I did a Google search but only found versions for the Mac and OS X, whatever that is.

That is interesting, i didn't even know that. The links are readable on my computer, but i wonder if it is the same for my readers. Thanks for addressing this, Boogie, is there a way that the font can be changed to something everyone should have on their computer?

alter your style.css sheet. Should be able to open it up in dreamweaver and change it. I dont really know dick about style.css

thanks for this information. If you'll write us up a short step by step guide to changing that for the our templates I garuntee you'll not have a problem with it for long ;) I'll get it fixed asap.

I agree with Boogie.

It looks like gggreg has already fixed the font problem by changing themes on his blog. The side bar's on the left now and the links there are perfectly readable.

Boogie, I'm no coder so all I can do is suggest something to try. The style sheet you're using now appears to be:

style sheet 1: http://www.boogie-blog.com/wp-conten...ault/style.css

If you open that in a text editor and do a search and replace, replacing all instances of lucida grande with something common like times new roman, it might fix the problem. Be sure and save a copy of the original style.css in case the change screws things up.

I played around with it Ann omness. went with courier.

gggreg, I don't see a contact form or an email address on your blog. If you add that, it'll be easier for people to contact you for trades.

That is very true, i have been looking for a good contact form script. I believe WP have one, i will ask Boogie on icq. He knows everything about WP! ;)

Boogie, I noticed that you have a link trade with thesexblog.com. That site looked to me like one of the ones that use a lot of stolen pics. Is it someone you know? He wants a link trade with me, but I'm a prude about linking to sites with stolen content. If you know differently, let me know and I'll do the trade.

I havent really thought about his stuff looking stolen. I know he uses quite a bit of that celebrity stuff as its released... like the vida pics... but then again so does about 90% of the blogsphere. Its kinda considered free range to an extent.

Most people, like myself, link to it off site. If he doesnt i'm suprised.

Most of the pics I see up for the past few days looks like its from sponsors collections of content for promotion, as its watermarked. I'll email and ask though.

1. All of the images that I post are PROMOTIONAL material and I am signed up to almost all of those affiliate programs. It is the SAME content that hundreds of other babe blogs and the like post.
2. I dont want a link trade with you, I was signed up to your toplist and you suspended me without a notification. I sent you free traffic all that time which is kind of unfair.
3. Lets talk about the reason you suspended my trade. You claim that I post stolen material well I see your blog links to many 'websites' that also use material that seems to be unaccounted for. Also you claim in your email to me(after I found out you had been taking my traffic and not reciprocating) that because I had no 2257 statement you didnt want to link. Looks almost ALL of the sites on your toplist DO NOT have a 2257 friend. So please what is the real reason here?
4. I have been signed up to your toplist for over 6 months and all of a sudden now you seem to have an issue with it?
5. It is your right not to link to me and likewise, I do not wish to be part of your toplist I just simply asked in an email WHY you chose to ban my site without notification and take my traffic for free.
6. I see on your blog that you blatantly plagarize many news articles, how is this ok yet me linking to images OFFSITE that are promotional content and most of the programs I am an affiliate with be wrong? Your logic defies me friend no offense intended.
7. Remember when you point a finger, there are always 3 more pointing back at you.

1. I apologize if I've wronged you, Splum, and on closer inspection, I think I have. The fact that you are hosting most of your images at imagevenue set off a red flag for me, because a lot of the image pirates use that service. Now that I've taken another look, I see that you have a sponsor link to each of the sets of content you're advertising.
2. You wrote me about your account being suspended within a few hours of the time I suspended it.
3. Most of the blogs we list are primarily text and don't need 2257's. Others are obviously using sponsor content that I recognize and I don't take issue with it. Some blogs are listed solely because I haven't reviewed them yet.
4. I don't have time to regularly review all the blogs we list, so I do random reviews each day. Yours happened to come up the other day.
5. I'll unsuspend your blog if you want me to. It was my mistake.
6. There is nothing wrong with what you are doing. On my blog, if I excerpt from a news article or another blog, I attribute the source by linking to it. It's the "fair use" concept in journalism.
7. Can we stop pointing now? I am sorry. I see so much cheating going on every day that I get tired and judge too quickly sometimes.

I now have linked it both on the free side & the pay side of my site and I have it working with my LJ. One of my LJ friends (Devon) was a sweetie and made up a couple of blog banners for me. |pink

It is funny, we have only shot with ScoreGroup 3 times, yet I get guys who email me and think that I am a star & that I have all this connections with all the other models..... |jester| That is so far from the truth.
