NBA Playoffs

Saturday is the tip-off.

I'll be watching Reggie Miller and the Pacers fight their way to face the Heat.

What a long emotionally kick in the balls year it has been. Not the way I wanted to see Reggie go out.

I'm not sure on who to pick this year, I'd say Spurs out West if Duncan is healthy and Heat East if Shaq is healthy.

We will also see if the MVP is a true award for the most valuable player or if it’s a popularity contest. If Steve Nash wins it, it’s a true MVP award, if Shaq wins it, it’s based on popularity.

Coach of the year needs to go to Rick Carlisle after a tremendous job he has done with all the suspensions and injuries, but I think it will go to Mike D'Antoni.

pornrex 2005-04-21 01:46 AM

It would be nice if Indiana had a Cinderella playoffs and won the whole thing. |thumb

Realistically, its too hard to pick a team - especially from the West. There are literally 5 teams that can kick butt on any given night. The East? If the Heat go down its because the Pistons are humming like a V8.

Prediction: Miami vs. San Antonio - Spurs to take it all!

Bring It On!! |bananna|

Ramster 2005-04-21 09:42 AM

Should be a good playoffs. Could be some upsets too. Denver has the best record in the NBA since the allstar break so Duncan better be healthy or they won't go past the first round. Pacers? Don't see it happening this year. Reggie was a great player!

Steve Nash should be the MVP hands down. Look at his stats and look at the Suns. What a turnaround.

Torn Rose 2005-04-21 09:48 AM

Yeah, the Spurs/Nuggets should be good, Karl did a incredible job, had he been there all year who knows.

Greenguy 2005-04-21 10:28 AM

I'm rooting for the Lakers :D

Yell 2005-04-21 10:38 AM

I am rooting for the Clippers |couch|

The ex Braves :D

Ramster 2005-04-21 11:28 AM

I hear the Clippers and Lakers are having their own playoffs on a playground in Compton. Winners live! :D

pornrex 2005-04-21 11:37 AM

The Compton Cup...

dareutwo 2005-04-21 06:48 PM

As long as it isn't a 1 coast finals :)

Suns/Heat would be really fun to watch!

dareutwo 2005-05-06 10:08 PM

Cool!
Just waiting for the day Nash heads one in. :D

Torn Rose 2005-05-07 09:34 PM

Total domination tonight... we did a great job! |thumb

Bring on the Badboys....|knockout|

weirdsteve 2005-05-08 03:22 AM

This year has a storybook ending. No hockey in Canada,,,, so a Canadian, Steve Nash wins MVP ( the first canadian to win that) and plays against Shaquille (the other MVP)
I can't wait. I predict the fans in both cities (in the finals, let alone in the second round) will be chanting shaq mvp / steve mvp - MVP' MVP'. The Finals will be awesome to see the difference in their games.

Tito_Ortiz 2005-05-08 07:43 PM

Damn my Rockets blew a 2-0 lead. I guarantee that the championship runs through Houston at least twice in the next 5 yrs. Yao and T-mac are still so young.

dareutwo 2005-05-08 08:03 PM

weirdsteve - Even Shaq congratulated Canada. :)

Tito - not a chance.
They don't have the support staff or a coach to get them there right now.
Remember, I'm a T-Wolves fan, predicted to get to conference finals this year. (like that happened lol)

East should beat the West this year.

pornrex 2005-05-11 04:08 AM

Spurs vs Suns
Heat vs Pistons

Both will go 7...last rock in the hole wins.

Too tough to call, really. You can't count any of these teams out. Everyone's saying Heat this, Heat that.
C'mon.
The Pistons are DEFENDING CHAMPIONS. They're NOT rollin' over for anyone. Wade can't win it alone and Shaq better pick it up right quick. 20 turnovers doesn't impress me and it won't do them any good against the Pistons or those suffocating d patterns in the West. Heat will 'Chill' if they keep this up.

cockNballs 2005-05-11 09:27 AM

I thought Basketball was over since the Celtics are out and I don't like basketball

Yesterday's came showed some weakness... But they still got the job done. I agree, Wade can't win it alone, and the turnovers were terrible. BUT don't underestimate the HEAT!!!

Torn Rose 2005-05-11 10:28 PM

YES! BOOM BABY!

|bananna|

Torn Rose 2005-05-13 09:56 PM

Domination turned into a ugly win... but I'll take it! |bananna|

Greenguy 2005-05-14 07:08 AM

Seeing as I'm not following the NBA Playoffs at all, Torn's posts are utterly useless :D

Torn Rose 2005-05-14 09:13 AM

Pacers won by 9 in Detroit after being down 15 and after being up 15 and completely dominating for 3 quarters, they go down 4 in the 4th to come back and win by 5

Pacers 2-1 over Detroit

Ramster 2005-05-14 09:38 AM

Pacers played a good game in the end. Reggie is still Reggie though he missed his 3s he made some long 2s still. A little pushoff in the end but that happens all the time so not something the refs should call.

Steve Nash played great and really took the game over in the final few minutes to lead Phoenix to a win. Great end to that game especially the spin hook shot with his left.

dareutwo 2005-05-14 11:31 PM

Heat gets a week off awaiting Reggie :)

I mean seriously, do you honestly think that the Pacers will get past the Pistons? Realistically, I think not. I mean, dont get me wrong, I love Reggie as well and would love for this year to be his. But that's just a pipe dream.

I really do see the Pistons coming back. And, if not, great for Reggie and the Pacers.

dareutwo 2005-05-15 03:35 PM

pornrex -
We'll see what happens :)
Here we go!

pornrex 2005-05-19 02:21 PM

Is tonight Reggie's last game?

I hope that this series does go the distance simply because I want to see Reggie give it everything he's got. |thumb

Can you imagine this series coming down to the last shot and he gets the shot? Talk about drama!!

Go Reggie Go!

Torn Rose 2005-05-19 10:54 PM

He went down shooting......

Torn Rose 2005-05-19 10:54 PM

Pistons will win it all

Torn Rose 2005-05-19 11:05 PM

BTW, total class on Larry Brown and the Pistons taking their final timeout for Reggie.

Reggie’s first Playoff and Final Playoff game was against Detroit, so it's kind of fitting.

For a team that is known for making our free throws it's kind of sad to go out making 2 of 7 when the Pistons made 22 of 24.

Pistons will beat Miami, too much D and team work vs a hurt Shaq even as good as Wade is, he is not good enough to beat the Pistons.

Pacers/Pistons = Best Rivalry in the NBA

Beware the Pacers in 2005 – 2006

Torn Rose 2005-05-20 12:41 PM

Here’s a good read, Larry Brown mentioned this in his post game press conference, that he was also the coach who beat the Wiz in Jordan’s last game and how "they went out"

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2...ackson/050520a

"In the end, it was just him and us. No kids, no fam, no Cheryl. Just him against the enemy. The enemy that fell in love with him. Jordan, Magic, Bird, Malone, Isiah … none of them went out the way he did: the opposing team stopping the game to give him a five-minute standing ovation, the media at his last news conference standing up and clapping for him, the refs giving him hugs and good wishes on the court when the game was over."

pornrex 2005-05-22 05:21 PM

Totally Reggie.

pornrex 2005-05-22 09:03 PM

The 'tired and bummed out' Spurs stole this one tonight. You gotta admire the discipline that Spurs showed. They found an opportunity to steal this game and did so. Good for them. Still see it going at least 6, maybe 7.

dareutwo 2005-05-23 09:09 AM

What's not good news for Suns fans is that in conference finals 90% of the teams that win game 1, win the series.

Torn Rose 2005-05-25 07:17 AM

FUCK... feel asleep when the Suns were up 9.... damn I wanted to see this game.

Ramster 2005-05-25 12:32 PM

Disappointing to see them lose both at home. :(

Torn Rose 2005-05-25 10:40 PM

Not when your rooting for the other teams lol...

My favorite teams are

#1 PACERS (as if you didn’t know)
#2 Indiana Pacers
#3 Detroit Pistons
#4 San Antonio Spurs
#5 who ever is playing Shaq or Kobe teams.

Torn Rose 2005-06-02 11:40 AM

The West is won...

Spurs beat Suns 4-1

I really think Tim Duncan is the best all around player in the NBA.... just needs to work on his free throws in big games.

If the Heat wins, I'm rooting for the Spurs; if the Pistons win I'm rooting for the Pistons.

But wouldn’t be that bothered if the Spurs win.
