Our New Search Engine Chat
 

As you may or maynot have read in today's newsletter, our own Bill will be conducting weekly Search Engine Chats. The chats will be on Wednesday nights from 11PM EDT until Midnight.

This is something you will really not want to miss. Make sure you mark your calendars.

Purpose: General chat about the search engines and how to profit from them. And, arranging SE style link trading among GG&J members.

Time: 11PM, EDT to midnight Wednesday Nights

Who: Bill is going to host, and everyone with opinions and questions is invited to come and share ideas in a casual atmosphere. We'll have an old fashioned text chat and just shoot the breeze.

Any chance of logging these chats? 2AM for the radio show is pretty bad, 5AM is even worse :)

I'll log them Fonz. I haven't yet quite figured out where I am going to store the logs. But I'll come up with something.

We might try having chats at other times, too. The IRC channel has a lot of free space available.

You know, when the idea for this first got started, I was thinking, okay, this will just be a little casual thing. How many people would come to it? I figured maybe half a dozen, 8 or so. ;-}

how can I save the chat? The log option did not work and I have the chat still open but don't want to copy and paste that out because it's a lot and I can't scroll down when I mark it.

Sorry Jeka, there were just too many questions and topics coming too fast. I was typing as fast as I could, but with chat, things can easily slip by.

I'll make a point of trying to answer your questions first next time.

I lost my log too. I had been working all day, doing graphics and editing sites, and my computer locked up on me just as the chat was ending. So my log never got saved.

It was a good chat, covering a lot of subjects.

I still have the mirc chat open but how can I save the chat history?

I have the chat in my mIRC log file, but it's rather messy to read since it includes mIRC format codes that don't translate well in a plain text file.

Did you turn on logging on that window? If you turned on logging I believe it will just save automatically when you disconnect.

If you didn't turn on logging I think the only way would be to select and copy into something like wordpad. (notepad has that size limit, probably won't take the file.)

That's what I would try first, is the select and copy. I don't remember wether cntrl-A will select all within the window- give it a try.

I'll be here all night, let me know if that works.

Toby, here's what my log looks like- it doesn't have too many wierd control characters in it. But, I only have the last few minutes of the chat... (I've edited this a little bit, to remove some urls and comments.)

Some nice "hooks" in that writing Trixxia! I think you could get even deeper into your sell, your close is still a bit passive. But nice overall.
I would definitely have linked your main sell line "Get YOUR Dick inside those CHEEKS!
Bill - I haven't worked on that type of promotion in awhile - I do most of the writing on my husband's site now but not as 'horny' as I used to be when I started heheheheh I need to get back into that type of stuff
You picked a good strong visual image, and you were _behind_ it, you put energy into it.
People don't buy porn that someone just points to and says, Get this type of porn here. They want to feel EXCITED about buying.

Like they are getting in on a hot thing. If you put YOUR energy into the sell, the surfer who is on the fence will feel that, and it overcomes their inhibition.

Well folks, I had a great time, altho I know there was a lot of things that we just started or touched on - we will get to them in the future.

I copy and pasted the whole chat now. Took about 7 minutes argh

My log is alot messier than that. I run an add-on script that I use for controlling the rowdies when I fill in as chat OP for live cam shows. Here's a small sample.

I'll tell ya, I have a whole new appreciation for MrMarylou. I've joked with him in the past about how he's "the hardest working man in porn", but damn, he really is! It's harder than one would think to host a chat.

It's fast and confusing, and you can only say a little bit at a time, so figuring out what to emphasize is tough.

And search engine strategy is complex, with lots of levels on which every question can be answered.

And thanks Jay. You've become legendary in these past 3 years, using a solid content-based strategy that everyone admires.

Chat's will continue to be at 11pm on wednesdays. Sorry if that's a wierd time for some, but it's the best compromise I can come up with.
