Is reality dead?
Is it because I see so much porn that I'm just tired of it? Or are there more people like me out there? As in your surfers.
Is it just a waste of bandwidth to show a storyline or buildup to sex? Are people falling for a 30 minute video, where the first 15 minutes is the buildup? For any newbies wanting to get into reality. Just change the theme, but here is your basic reality porn video. Guy is just walking around with a cameraman, sees girl at a coffee house patio reading a newspaper, convinces her he's someone he's not, plays off the cameraman like it's no big deal, smirks to camera. (That's one long take and should last for 10 minutes) Guy takes her home and she willingly goes, and gets naked, but is reluctant to do anything else. So for another 10 minutes he convinces her to "just" touch his dick. (Emphasize that he really doesn't want sex either... at first) 5 minutes later they're fucking and he cums on her face. Try to end with a joke. Like, don't pay her, kick her out of the house naked, humiliate her somehow. And close with the naked guy giving praise and a virtual high-five to your viewers. Am I just tired of editing this shit? Is anyone really into this? I guess the sales don't lie. As long as there are people living in the mid-west, then there are still going to be people out there that believe reality porn... is real. |angry
Reality TV producers think that we want to watch hapless celebs eating fat juicy grubs. Wrong! I want to see them getting it on!
Reality porn producers think we want to see chicks getting tricked. Wrong! I want to see them sucking a cock! Truth is stronger than fiction. |
Reality is still going strong, just look at TCG's success.
|
People have known for years that Pro Wrestling is all fake and scripted, but they still watch it. Why should porn be any different? What these guys are buying is the fantasy that it's possible to pick up a hot babe they've never met before, take her home and be screwing her brains out before the car engine is cold.

I would love to see some real reality amateur paysite to promote, where the chicks are real amateurs and not casted ones that every surfer already knows better than the webmasters promoting the stuff.
And even worse when the "amateur models" appear on another affiliate program's paysites too, that really sucks! |

Never liked that shit and never will :D |
reality has a lot of potential left. I dont think that people are doing 'reality' right.
Which is a shame. TCG is the closest to it and i'm not a big fan of their content. They've got the right idea but need to up production value. This is of course another case of me saying I could do it better and not having the drive or income to back it up but still. I think the person who really gets 'reality' right is going to break a big fucking hole into this industry. |
First off, let me say that bangbus in a sense is the exception to the rule. These guys were pretty much the first, and they still have style and humor over and above pretty much everyone.
That being said, reality porn is dead mostly because it isn't real, not even close. More importantly, it rarely comes close to hitting the fantasy of most guys (and girls for that matter). Most guys don't have the balls to walk up to a girl and say "my name is bob, I have a big cock, let's go to my van / house / apartment / hotel / car and fuck like wild animals and then I will dump a load on your face, okay?". Most guys are way to meek for that, and most reality porn as a result isn't in their reality anymore. Basically, you can do it a few times (different bangbus type sites) but after a while people are repeating the surface but not the underlying substance. Example (I hope this is linkable): http://trailers1.bangbros.com/bangbus/bb949/trailer.wmv Redshoe, you are correct. It isn't just reality, though... it's cookie cutter stuff. No target audience except "who those other guys get traffic from" and that's it. No craft, no style... and no, it can't be fixed in the edit. Alex |
How can reality be dead when new surfers are coming online everyday? I'm sure us webmasters are tired of seeing the content, but i dont think the surfer has seen it as much as we have. Normal people don't spend 12-18 hours a day online. :)

But like all other genres, I believe reality will soon be pushed back once the next big thing comes out....but I believe it will never die! cheers, Luke |
Unfortunately, I don't think it's going to happen. Obviously there are still plenty of men out there whose fantasy is to see women tricked into sex. So there's still money to be made, no matter how unoriginal (or offensive) these things are. |
as others have stated reality is now the new "cookie cutter" sites... every site is looking the same again to me.... who is gonna think up the next big thing? there is a lot of money going to the person who does

Our local strip joint asked us years ago to put cameras up in their club. All the strippers have to sign a waver saying they know that they are being taped for security reasons. And, this club has a few back rooms where the VIPs get "Happy Endings". :) The legalities were just a little too much for me with the gents in the back room so we had to say no.
I think real reality would be a great seller. |

But isn't that what home-made, bad, amateur porn is? Real people fucking for no cash or incentive. |
The reality sites never quite meshed with my sense of reality. In my reality, you go out to a bar with your knuckle-dragging friends. Dance and chat with a few hotties. You are the one they think is funny. You are the one they keep saying is 'smart'. You are the one who compliments them on their various personal qualities. You are the one who goes home and jerks off while your friends fuck them in a parking lot. That's reality. But I suppose a site dedicated to lonely blue-balled men jerking off and weeping hysterically probably wouldn't sell.
But there's the other reality too. You break up with a chick because she's a complete fucking whore who proudly describes all of her sexual encounters with other men when you first find out that she's made a complete fucking cuckold out of you. You go out to clubs looking for someone new who isn't a complete fucking whore. Of course, you don't find anyone because the friends who took you out to help you find someone new end up banging all of the available babes that still had all of their teeth. So you leave the club; drunk and alone. What do you do in your moment of drunken desperation? You call of up your ex-whore and, for whatever odd reason, she's home watching tv instead of downing some scumbag's cock like she would have been doing if you were still dating. She invites your pathetic ass over. You're drunk, she's a slut. You start off grudge-fucking her, but you fall in love with her cunt all over again. Two weeks later it burns when you piss and snot-green puss is dripping from your cock. You tell her she's a rotten chlamidia-infested whore and that you hate her fucking whore guts. Her defense is, "how do you know that it was me?" And that's the sad part. That's when you realize how much life sucks. That's when you reply, "Because no one else will fuck me!" That's reality. |cry

I should have said "doing it the way I think would sell the best." Its like they get the name 'reality' from the tv genre but learn nothing else from them. There are a thousand reality shows out there, osme more popular than others, it should take a lot for some of the bigger name producers to sit down and figure out what makes a reality show hot or not. Here is a hint: it aint eating cow testes. |

If you have a solid product, you can cater to both new and old surfers. |
Reality sites still does good for us :) Fex BoneMyWife.com maybe not reality exactly like RedShoe talked about, but it converts very well :)

Amateur porn is still staged. You need people that really are just living and having sex without a camera in their faces.

Average everyday swingers are typically very discrete about their proclivities. Filming would be out of the question. |
This is a good discussion.
I've been debating whether to do "reality" with my next paysite. I'm almost wondering if it's worth it. If I do a "reality" site then I limit my model selection to only those who speak fluent english, even though there are alot of great models in certain niches that don't speak english. Also I'm limited to using basically one production crew to keep the scenes consistent. I'm wondering if it wouldn't be better to just make a niche site (MILF for instance) and just have multiple high quality photosets and videos of each model and skip the pretense of the "pick up" and "storyline" |

But, make sure that you research what the surfers are actually looking for within that niche. Too often a sponsor just throws a few splashy pages together and slaps a niche title on it. |
Jim, I have been part of a project that attempted to get "real amateur swinger" videos, and honestly, it sucked. The "reality" of the deal is pretty simple: Most swingers are not as attractive as they think, they are not as good in bed as they think, and they are boring to watch fuck unless you are there in person.
Often what is exciting when you are right there loses something when you can click pause and see how bad everyone really looks. Many swingers will appear on video, but they want to wear masks, be hidden, disguised, whatever. It makes for some extremely cheesy video. Meanwhile, back to the reality world: I think that pretty much all niches of this business have a fast run up followed by a long and protracted run out to nothing. reality, MILF, hidden cam, pickups... and many other niches have lit up the web for a while only to fade back to the background like many other types of porn. I personallly feel that the future lies somewhere around IPTV, and I am starting to re-orient everything I do towards an all video distribution future. Alex |

So far, I've seen one hardcore site that seems to put the women in the drivers seat (so to speak): Manhunter, by silvercash. Never had a ton of luck with SC, but I do have some funds over there just waiting to be released. I think I could do a couple of Manhunter sites without being too annoyed by the content. |

Wait.. putting women down is a right of passage. Shit, ever read a bible? Woman is made FROM man. She's here to serve. Keeping her down, is what us men are all about. That being said. Call me one of the lucky ones that have managed to see thru all this shit. I too think it's fucked up that a woman can do the same job as a man and get paid less for it. Some of the best executives in american corporations are women, and still get paid less than men with the same jobs. Ladies, on behalf of my fellow man... I apaologize for centuries of a male dominated civilization. Ok.. NOW can I see your tits? |mml| ...just kidding. :D |
I like the idea of a reality based reality niche... (that sounds so strange)
When it comes to whether or not I get turned on by most of the porn out there these days, the answer is more often than not no. Very little of it has to do with what the person looks like and most of it has to do with the attitude that is captured by them on film. A webmaster that I know from another board (Not sure if her & her husband come here or not) posted pics of a party they hosted a while back, a swinger party I guess it was, with a mix of people who were regular recurring customers, and some I guess were people featured on their site? (I might have that last bit wrong, not sure) ...anyways, the people featured in the images were far from glamour models, but the pics were AWESOME because well, they were real. I guess the term "real" isn't a good term to use anymore, technically its not as if some porn is more "real" than other porn in the sense that everybody's getting fucked sooner or later... I'll go with the term "natural" -- The pictures featured a more 'natural' sex. Maybe that's the new niche, "Natural porn" that truly features your everyday people who are comfortable enough to let themselves be filmed while partaking in the perfectly natural act of mating. It makes a world of difference (to me at least) when the individuals featured are totally into each other and genuinely enjoying what they're doing. |

Of course, I live in Texas, so that may explain it. :D Anyway, those are the people that are the target audience for "reality" TV and "reality" porn. Though there's nothing whatsoever wrong with reality porn that's actually hot, and some of it is. |

reallity is great niche .. you only need good traffic :)

UW that was great, but no one will pat $30 a month to see a guy strike out, they already get that for free.
The reality sites coming out these days are getting rediculous ... it's not believable and that's why many sponsors are going to personality based sites. The success of BangBus and the like was because surfers actually think (or thought) it was real, personality based sites offer that sence of attainability and that's why we see so many coming out now. |
