Welcome back Linkster

He is on his way here in time I'm sure, but he has power back and is alive and has finally had a shower after 4 days.

Well, I think he only showers on saturday nights anyway, so I don't think he minded that.

:D |bananna| |headbang|

Damn I get upset if I can't take at least two showers a day.

Yeah the things we take for granted. I was in the shower this morning thinking how it would be to go 5 or more days with out one! It's got to be awful as we know how the heat makes us smell so lovely. I'm with you Cleo, shower in the morning and before bed.

Linkster 2005-09-02 02:47 PM

Yep - back and smelling a heck of a lot better :)
Got power back this morning although looking around the area Im not sure theyre gonna keep it up - way too many 5 in diameter branches hanging on lines going to some houses - some have actually pulled the soffet off the house where the line was connected
Off to see if I can help others as I figure Im lucky to at least have a roof :)

Nice to see you back Linkster! |thumb

And no, not just so we can finally release those vintage free sites I promised you. ;)
But the truth is I just didn't feel right letting anyone else have them until we knew you were okay.

Really am glad to hear you have a roof and power and water.
Watching CNN it looks like you were pretty lucky this time.

Simon

Linkster, are you on Entergy. I am on Southern Pine EPA. My local service man stopped by this morning and said again it would be 2 to 6 weeks before I have power. He also said FEMA would pay 2/3 of the cost of the new gererator I purchased. However, he did not have a solution for getting gas to run it.

Useless 2005-09-02 03:41 PM

Well hell, I've gone two solid weeks without showering or changing any of my clothing, and that includes sleeping them too. Pussies. :D

Glad to hear you're back at it and no longer sipping from your pool, Linkster. ;)

Chop - yeah Entergy is the provider here - evidently they have restored it long enough to let them go through and figure out which lines they are going to have to replace so we are expecting it to go out again. I did hear that So Pine had a lot more poles down wheras Entergy mostly had transmission towers that just had to be righted and reset - although looking around I can see loads of lines still laying on the ground and lots of trees hung up on poles - I think the only reasons we got power back here was Im out in the country but only a quick walk to the golf course - and the board of supervisors love them some golf - although they have quite a few new hazards LOL - that and the county sheriff lives right down the road :)

As far as the gas I hear ya - we cant get the tanker barges and rail cars into the port so we're kinda hurting.
