Happy Happy Radio Show Tuesday Morning

Everyone is gone... No Daughter, No Grand-Daughter and No Grand-Son :) They were actually talking about staying another day but my Grand-Daughter came up to me and said, "Grandpa...I want to see my Daddy". I told her mother and off they went :)

A nice full night's sleep and a relaxing evening...nothing quite like it.

I think it is really cold this morning but havn't checked yet.

Fonz 2006-02-21 07:24 AM

Morning all,

Your place must be quiet now Jim, except for the dogs barking... :)

It seems I got myself a cold, lots of sneezing and a runny nose at the moment.
Anyway, have a nice day all.

Simon 2006-02-21 08:09 AM

Good morning world |waves|

Looks like it'll be another warm and sunny day here today.

I'm glad we don't have one of those major ports here, the idea of port security being turned over to a company in the United Arab Emirates doesn't sit well with me. I heard someone on tv, I forget who it was now, suggesting that we outsource the Secret Service detail that protects the president next. Now that might be an idea I could get behind ... well, at least temporarily. :D

Looking forward to the show tonight.

Simon

Good Radio Show Tuesday Everyone |waves|

We have to run the dog over to the vet for some shots & they have to look at another growth on his eye-lid (he had one removed last year on the other eye)

Construction continues on the new kitchen...my stove & fridge are now in my living-room |thumb

Cleo 2006-02-21 08:51 AM

Wow that time of the day again. :)
Another beautiful day down here with the temps hitting 81F today.
|sun
Doing the gym thing today and then not really sure what I'm doing besides getting some work done.

Neighbor got pissed off at one of his girls so he threw his 17" Powerbook into the ocean yesterday on the way to the airport.

Espresso is on…

Ramster 2006-02-21 09:06 AM

Good Morning, I think.

The wife has me going to look at kitchens. Nothing too seriously expensive she says... just some new cabinets, counter top and sink, basically everything. :(

I just put the down payment on my cabinets. Maybe I'll PM you the total so you can start |banghead| before you even go & look at sinks & counters :D

Mornin' y'all,

Temps are back in the normal range for this time of year, but the weather guy promises another brief cold spell later in the week. He didn't have to order that on my account.

Have had friends in town the last few days, so keyboard time has been pretty limited. They depart this morning, so it's time to get my sorry ass back to work, after I'm properly caffeinated. |yawn|

Cleo, I think maybe your neighbor needs to switch to decaf. |huh

|coffee is on, mocha Tuesday, help yourself |bananna|

docholly 2006-02-21 09:39 AM

Morning..

It seems someone got their panties in a knot at Harrah's on the Strip and opened fire in the casino. They are now in hour 6 of a police standoff on the 22nd floor where he escaped to. The entire casino is on lockdown and we have 115K garmentos in town for the February apparel show. (of course there is nothing on the web about this as it might tarnish our good name)

Of course it could be that concealed weapon law that we have but NO wait.. maybe the shooter thought he could just say he thought he was shooting at a stray quail. |banghead|

otherwise nothing much happening here. Vets in town so i guess i'll be looking at Doggie/Kitty stuff today.

|waves| have a good one!!

bluemoney 2006-02-21 09:45 AM

Good morning all |waves| The suns out here and thats a good start.

Have a great Tuesday all! Glad the radio show is back on |thumb

A tip on saving money.

Buy Greenguy and his wife an all expense paid cruise (it will be cheaper than a new kitchen) Then when he is gone go steal his. Make sure you make it look like jim did it. (leave a note on his door saying "Sorry I missed you, Jim"

|couch| :D

Morning all |waves|
Business as usual
Im glad I aint paying for cabinets:)
that stuff gets crazy expensive.
back to drinking |coffee and work.

Cleo 2006-02-21 10:19 AM

Kitchens aren't that bad to budget for. Just decide how much you want to spend and then double or triple that.

Then after the new kitchen is in you get to actually cook in it since you can no longer afford to eat out.

pornrex 2006-02-21 10:34 AM

Good morning peoples |waves|

Gonna watch some more jokelympic hockey today, do some work both on and off the computer and catch a nap sometime this afternoon after an evening of tossing and turning.

By the way, I am trying to get about 3-4 quotes to create a template with a caricature for me. Any suggestions?

Damn that was a long morning but an eye opener even for the wife. Very expensive!

We want to do the kitchen for 2 reasons,. The kitchen is old and looks like crap and we want to buy a new house next summer so a new kitchen would improve the resale value greatly.

Thankfully being an older home it didn't seem too expensive though if you go with the white non birch/oak cabinets which is what we will do. But still add a sink, counters, trim and crap and I need to sell a few more memberships. |loony|

RawAlex 2006-02-21 02:00 PM

Ramster, if at all possible, try to get a slate or granite counter top to go with it. Kitchens and bathrooms sell houses, and making sure that these parts of your house are top notch and use best materials are a really good way to push your sale price up.

As for the radio show, well, I hope this edition is somewhat less *personal* than the last one.

Alex

Cleo 2006-02-21 02:12 PM

Granite is great. You can set hot pots on it, cut on it, it's pretty much indestructible.

Look into that a bit. It will raise the value of you home, but will it raise it as much as you put into the new kitchen? Some people saw what we did to our old house with a new kitchen, huge deck, new floors, bar/party room etc. Sunk a lot of money into it over the 4 years we lived there & got about 1/2 of it back when we sold it.

That's one of the reasons I liked the addition that we're doing, because it's adding 600 sq ft to the house :)

If you're gonna redo the kitchen (might as well do the floor & paint/wallpaper) figure on $100/sq ft.

natalie 2006-02-21 04:27 PM

Morning all, I am looking forward to the radio show. Cleo I love your kitchen! Looks like a good size for avid cooks and that granite is lovely. When we buy our own house next year (hopefully) the kitchen and bathroom are the two main rooms that will sell me. All three of us love to cook at one time or another (lol we take turns getting the cooking bug) and I love relaxing in a nice big bath at the end of the day. So if those rooms aren't perfect they will be the first to get renovated.

RedCherry 2006-02-21 04:28 PM

I agree on the doubling the cost of repairs. We too are fixing up our house to sell and concentrating on kitchen and bathrooms. So far, we have the counter tops re done, we went with tile, which you have to be more careful with, but sure looks nice. Redid the floor too, and getting estimates to add 4 more cabinets to match the existing cabinets. Hopefully, that won't be too much.

I'm so happy. |bananna| I just went to the building department, because our next phase is to convert attached storage into another bedroom, so this would be a 3 bedroom house with den, and found out we don't need a permit. :) Any house that construction was started before 10/98 on (which this house fall in to) you don't need a permit on any additions, as long as it is attached to the original house. Yippee, no inspectors looking over our shoulders as we do the work. |headbang|

Cleo, your kitchen and baths are WONDERFUL, that is so pretty, much nicer than mine.

Ramster 2006-02-21 05:20 PM

Cleo, that is a big difference and looks great.

Alex and Greenguy, I agree it is a good idea to not cheap out too much. Doors for example can be a big difference. We do have a fairly new floor now, 3 years maybe. But yes we will paint, ect too.

I'm really looking forward to this year's hurricane season. With a little luck maybe we can get hit with a couple of category 5 storms.
