What Graphics Software do you use and why?
I am a BIG fan of Adobe Photoshop + Imageready.
I use 'em coz I've been using photoshop since version 3 and never bothered getting hold of anything else. |couch
Photoshop Rules!
I haven't used Image Ready though. What features does it have that aren't in Photoshop? |

iSC_Luke, I use Imageready for gif animation and slicing up. |

Graphics are not my strong point, I try to avoid them wherever possible. About the only things I can draw are curtains and conclusions. It's taken me long enough to figure out how to do things in Fireworks, so I don't think I would have the time/patience/inclination to try anything else. |
Photoshop/Imageready and Illustrator.
Tried Fireworks and hated it, but then I also hate Dreamweaver, lol. I answer what does ImageReady have that Photoshop doesn't. ImageReady is for the web what Photoshop is for Print. ImageReady does a lot of the same things that Photoshop does, but doesn't have any of the things that you would need if your final output was print, but does have more thing for the web like doing animated GIFs, rollovers, a multiple pane window that shows before and after optimized previews, just better and more web tools. |

anyways... Photoshop, Thumbnailer, ImageReady it is over here too. |
I use TartShopPro.. adapts to most any graphic requst i need.. has Wild Ass Color schemes but easily changeable..and NEVER crashes.. well amost never..
sometimes for a change i use Rubystrator or Merimages but mostly i use TartShopPro. I'm thinking lately i need to upgrad to version V this one is starting to Wheeze!! |jester
Jasc 7 - Why? Because I suck at graphics and am always simply resizing, or tagging images :)
|
Photoshop. Couldn't live with out it. Seriously :)
|
I use Photoshop, and ImageReady. It does have a bit of a learning curve, but one that I feel is worth it. Of course had I spent more time learning to sell than I did working with graphics, I may be making more out of this business.

http://www.guistuff.com/ It's free to register and get the tutorials. If nothing else it's good just for showing you what tools there are, and how you might go about using them. Do a search on Google for PS tutorials... there's hundreds of them I'm sure. I also saw a thing on TV one time about a site that actually sent out free PS learning CD-ROM's just because they wanted to spread the knowledge. Some people are plain crazy ;) |
Cleo Very cool!!! I like it..
Mike C, Im beyond the ability to learn, trapped inside my own suffering mind.. I want to see samples of your guys stuff :) |

I'm not a pro at it or anything, but I normally make my own banners since I there are alot of sponsor that I use anyway, do not update their selection very often.
Here are some that I have made: http://www.friskychicks.com/banners/nd.html and here is a game site I made for a friend, but warning, if you use anything other than IE, the search box is a bit out of wack. I didn't take the time to straighten it up because the friend put the thing on hold to go into the airforce. Anyway, I enjoyed playing with it at the time. http://www.portalsofadventure.com/oeg/test/ Norad |
I'm using Paintshop Pro, the software for the budget concious Photoshop person, and ThumbsPlus.
Several reasons for using Paintshop: · not so resource hungry · it doesn't take like 5 minutes to load · I know my way around it... · it does almost everything Photoshop does for 15% of the cost · all Photshop filters work with it! ...with a little knowledge and hard work you get some impressive results (as you can see with the header of my new site !) I'm actually using two versions of Paintshop: #7 for most page graphics, and #5 for simple work and screen captures; #5 is opened almost all day because I tend to replace some submitted thumbs for my tgp site) and I hardly ever notice it (as far as resources go). |
Photoshop is all I have ever used and every version just keep getting better! |roses|

Photoshop/Imageready
Ulead Smart Saver Pro Paint Shop Pro ThumbsPlus All for different jobs.. ..but then again I like text... |bananna| DD |
In my pile, there is:
Photoshop. Adobe Illistrator Everything else adobe, pretty much. Paintshop Pro (very good for capturing screen colors and stuff, fast to resize / bulk process files) Thumbsplus Thing with photoshop is once you understand the structure, you can use almost anything else from adobe with a very short learning curve. I also find that the quality of the jpgs from photshop is superior to most products, a certain sharpness you don't get with other programs. Alex |
Well I wouldn't call myself a photoshop guru... but I do desing my own AVS tours...

I use Paintshoppro 8 and am now learning my way around Photo shop.. wish I had started earlier but didn't have the budget. Here's one on my tgp2s I did in photoshop.. beware of the wild color schemes :D http://www.porn-tart.com/hose/fishnet/main.html |
The Busty Blondes tour looks excellent.
Maybe I need to step it up in my free time and try to learn some of the big dog programs. SmartSaver pro is god sent, as is ThumbsPlus. Is there a program out there than can bulk re-size based on % as opposed to true dimensions? Meaning on Wide Images and High Images in the same folder, could I resize them smaller by lets say 30% in a bulk fashion? I HATE doing one at a dam time. |
Yeah Photoshop/Imageready. :)
You can make Droplets that you then just drag and drop your images on. I find then much easier to do in ImageReady. In you just do whatever it is you want it to do and then save the history as a Droplet. Like I have a Droplet that will make all images 640 on the long side no matter if that should be the height or width and let the other dimension fall wherever. This way I can batch processes a folder of mixed horizontal and vertical images at once. I never even open and see the images that I use to make galleries, just drag and drop onto different Droplets. |
Photoshop/Imageready
Ulead Smart Saver Pro Paint Shop Pro Irfanview or Thumbnailer depends on what it is I also play with Ulead gif animator, thumbsplus and xat.com image optimizer.. |rasta

One of my previous companies purchased Photoshop 3 years ago, in my name (yeah they were stupid).
I have continued to by the upgrades on my own. (otherwise, it's pretty dammed expensive) At best, I am still a complete PS amateur, but I can get some things done with it. I use the best tool I have for the given task. Making thumbs? actually Gallery Maker Pro. (Set thumb size to 125 please) Save the template and it can make thousands of thumbs a minute. Reducing/resizing - Ulead Smart Saver Pro - worth the money for this one. For copying background colors - dotcol Actual free site creation - work in progress - should be ready soon. (still working out quite a few bugs) Still looking for that Easy to Use - "And Under a 100 bucks" - movie screen capture tool that will make thumbnails. (I've been back on dial up all summer - so I'm not in a big hurry LOL) |

Ditto on that question about movie thumbs....
I also am looking for the best program to take a batch of pics and make thumbs and html single pic pages from templates at the same time |

The problem with movies is, that pretty often the first frame is not suitable as thumb. The frame copy function in Irfanview works, but it's hard to navigate to the frame you want to copy, and you need to batch resize and crop the results. |
Ulead Photo Impact 5 for almost all net graphic work
PhotoShop 5 LE for transparent .gif work and small this & that Irfanview for resizing and watching the pictures (EDIT: it also changes graphics from one mode to another like .gifs to .jpegs and vice versa, .bmp to .jpg/.gif and so on) Easy Thumbnails for making thumbs JPEG optimizer Ulead Gif Animator - it reduces gifs too! SnagIt 5.0 for screen captures That's about it. I have Super JPG as trial but haven't decided if I buy it or not. EDIT: Almost forgot I also have Adobe Premiere 5 for video editing, but haven't used it yet. My wife use it to do home videos. |

I use Paint Shop Pro 7 for all designs and slicing. Tried Version 8 and didn't like it at all. First time I've been disappointed with a Jasc product. |sad|
I started with PSP in the beginning because it was so much cheaper than Photo Shop. I still use it now because it does everything I need it to and takes all Adobe plugins. Glad to see there's a few other PSP supports. Everything in my portfolio was done with PSP. |
Photoshop, Imageready and Illustrator and a little Freehand sometimes :)
