Which LL is sending spam?????
 

I am not sure this is the right place to ask this, however,

Of all the domains I own, there are only 3 domains I built my free sites on. I am getting spam - all the same spams - on all 3 domains now.
I am sick of the spam....
WHO IS SELLING my email address?
Anyone know who it is? I won't submit to them again.
I had NO SPAM on these accts until I submitted to several LL's

I hope that narrows the list down for you. Are you sure it's a LL that sold you out?

I get spam on my email aswell. Mostly Medicine crap.
Problem is I submitted to so many LL's atleast once it could be anyone.

There is one site mentioned on your list that I had a 'run it' with about a year ago. No idea if he's a spammer, but he is without doubt a total and complete asshole who has no clue how to run a link site.

After a while in this business it appears that spam is an evil we have to live with. Set up an account that you use for nothing but submissions, that may help keep the crap out of your "regular' email.

There's is 1 (or more) LL scripts that creates a "detailed" listing for every site that gets listed. That detailed listing includes your email address. I don't remember which script it is.

the problem with setting up an acct with only submissions is the spam STILL comes in and uses my mail space.....I just need to figure out who the shmuck is and never submit there again.

Spam sucks - especially spamming someone in the biz. Go spam AOLer's like they used to...and leave us alone. GEESH

At least that's how I found out that I got added to spam lists when I started using an unique submit email some years ago.

That SPAM could even be coming from a sponsor you might have just signed up with within however length of recent time. In the past month I signed up with three new ones and started getting lol*ta SPAM up the ass and back. I don't mind getting anything once in awhile on how to grow my penis fifty sizes bigger, but that kind of shit isn't right! BUT, it may not have been a sponsor though |huh

Yes it could have been a new sponsor, there are 2 I just signed up with. It was the timing of the submits and the spam that made me associate it with a LL

You can be 99.99% sure it was not Sex Circus. Smoothie has never done that sort of shit. I do know a sponsor that sells their list tho. I'll leave you a pm.

Spam is a fact of life to live with and hit the delete button. Calling out LL that have been in business for mega years is not so cool especially when one is first starting out and trying to become an established and trusted submitter. If you don't like spam, quite frankly, you are in the wrong business.

Spam arrest was invented to keep some of it blocked out.

secondly - my email is not for sale when I submit. PERIOD

If there is a LL sending spam or selling my email for spam use, then I need not submit to them. MY CHOICE. The only time these specific emails were used were to submit to a LL - not even the 2 sponsors, I double checked and they were given a completely other email.

Spamming those that submit to their LL with bullsh*t about buying meds and rolexes is NOT how to do business in my book.

If I am smart enough to figure out who it is that is doing it, then good for me. I don't need to be told by you to DEAL. Why dont you post your address, if you don't care about hitting a delete button - I am sure there are plenty of people who want to spam you!

I don't submit to linklists too often, but when I do it's with a different email address that *doesn't* receive much spam.

I never waste enough time with it trying to pinpoint who is doing it, but it does suck ass. There are so many big programs with lackeys working for them that get access to so much of our information that you never know what they're doing with it to turn a trick or two on their own time.

First of all - not a newbie fuck. I just created these emails especially for submits - nothing else. I am pointing fingers by trying to figure out who is spamming me? hmmmm...Like I said in my initial post - it just pisses me off. 100's of bullshit spams a day for ONE submit to a LL - just not my way of doing business and I choose not to do it with someone like that. That is my choice, as I mentioned in my last post.

I've been in this biz since 1998 - and never EVER had a spam problem with submits before. So, call me what you want - I owned a rather Large LL and would never send crap to people that submitted to me. In my opinion that's bad business practice.

I began in the adult online biz when the "dirty words" were finally offered by the registrars. I left the biz and sold off all but a few of my domains due to a bad back problem. I am back to building again - and consider my self a "born-again" newbie.

Since I haven't been submitting for a few years, and as you know, times have changed - I consider myself a newbie again.

DONT GET ME WRONG - I owned a LL that is no longer in commision, but I was lucky to get a Yahoo listing BEFORE they started to charge adult webmasters - soooo - I had alot of submissions to my LL. And no matter what they asked - I never had any need to call a fellow webmaster a CUNT - EVER.

Before the hole gets dug too deep to easily climb from, it might be worth looking into how spammers operate.

One thing that some do is generate lists of words that are then tacked onto every "@somedomain.com" their bots can find. It's possible that your email address was 'magically' created in just this way.

And if you opened even one of their spam messages, it's possible that it had a tiny bit of code that identified your address to the spammer as a live one.

I'm not saying this is what happened with you. But it's happened to many of my addresses over the years, including ones that I'd created but hadn't ever used anywhere yet.

You've received some good advice in this thread. I'm just going to add that in today's world, if you're not already receiving thousands of spam emails a day, then you're nowhere near your potential in the adult biz. :)

P.S. I didn't see that there was a second page to this thread before I posted. So I guess I need to add that knowing UW as I do, it wouldn't have bothered me at all if he called me a cunt. He really does love that word. And a newbie... well, I call myself an 'elder noob' on some other board titles, so that wouldn't have done it either.
