New Bird Species I Discovered Last Night
1 Attachment(s)
I have a few hummingbird feeders hanging off the beams on my front porch as I like the peace of watching the little birds - although last night I found a new species out there - Ive named it the Gopherus Snakius bird
Real nice markings on it :) |
I would imagine that like turkeys taking Gopherus Snakius bird up in an airplane and throwing them out to fly would not end well.
|
That's a real beauty. Must have recently shed.
Our hummingbirds were feeding heavily last week, but they have disappeared in the last few days - heading south. |
Spiders....snakes...birds... oh my!

Fine looking bird Linkster |thumb
I hear they taste like chicken :D |
Hey, and it's never too early for Christmas lights. :D
|
The curious little beauty was thirsty... cute! :)
|
Coming soon... "Gophers On A Plane!"
Definitely nice markings. I like that big-ass orb weaver too... or is that a different kind of spider? |
Yikes! If I went outside and saw that on my porch I'd be dead right now of a heart attack. I'm so afraid of snakes!

How big is she? |
Torn - about 2 and 1/2 inches across - about as big as they get - as they only live for one year just like most spiders
Although you dont know how hard it was to not post a snide remark with your question being right above Kats pic LOL Chop - I cant believe that you posted my hanging reindeer display |jester| Actually - its a real pain to redo that one set of lights and unless some idiot photographs them you can never see them :) |
you know linkster it you cut that porch piller out with that chain saw you have that snake wont come back:D

I think its cool you let her be there, I would have no issue with it, but I think the wife would make me move her elsewhere far far far away from the house. |dancinggu |

I like having the company :) Plus the gains you get by having less mosquitos and mice makes it all worthwhile - plus I still have my old friend in the back that keeps the nasty snake population down:

Very cool critters Linkster |thumb
It's one of the things I love about this place is all of natures friends that cruise the area. Sometimes they eat each other, but that's all part of the big picture. So, I give em their space and leave them be...unless they're in the house...then they're toast :D |
I'm jelous!
The closest thing to wildlife in my area is some guy who wanders the streets at night, nearly naked so he can yell at the street lights. |

Burn! |
I don’t mind the snake or the gator. But the spiders have to go. I hate all bugs. In fact I found more spiders here then I like to remember. Two on the bed, one in the shower, and three big brown hairy fuckers. The brown ones made huge webs; one of them dropped its line from about 20 ft off a tree branch then on to my car, then to the ground. The web was so big when I went to walk the dog a car light hit it which let me see the whole thing. I then got a flashlight and I’m happy I did. It would have totally engulfed me and the dog. Like something from an old Hitchcock movie. I was amazed at how cool it was but yet sad as I knew it was the spider or me. He had to go. I would have had a heart attack if I walked in to that web. Not to mention, to this day I am still weary about walking up my driveway at night because of that fucker. I keep my arms out in front of me, failing like the village idiot. All of them have since left this earth by Lysol spray and a bic lighter or looking up to see a billion shoes coming down fast on its head. Disgusting animals all of them.
