Are you a dog person or a cat person?

I have one of each, but I really have always been more of a dog person.
Here's my baby boy Riley!

Which do you prefer, dogs or cats?

Xallow 2007-01-09 05:41 PM

I like cats, but I LOVE Dogs, I had 1 that got 8 pups, had to keep 1 of the pups for myself, I just couldn't give them ALL up... and sold the rest to friends, I would have kept them all, but that is just too damn expenisive :(

Cleo 2007-01-09 06:13 PM

I think dog taste much better and is less chewy that cat meat. |thumb

Useless 2007-01-09 06:18 PM

If given the choice between Korean and Chinese, I'll take the Chinese.

Bill 2007-01-09 08:15 PM

Cat. I like their proud and independent nature.

Mr. Blue 2007-01-09 08:36 PM

Both, I have dogs and cats, and I like them for different reasons. If I had to choose one, probably dogs.

ponygirl 2007-01-09 08:49 PM

Cleo & UW thanks for the chuckle :D

I'm a cat person. I like cats. Just leave 'em alone to do their thing and they're happy. I often wish I was my cat, she's got the good life.

Dogs smell.

JackDaniel's 2007-01-09 09:17 PM

I think cats are selfish creatures who don't care about anything except getting fed !

ladydesigner 2007-01-09 09:21 PM

I like indoor cats. No poop to scoop in the yard. |thumb

so, what's your point?
:D

by the way, APMSarah - even tho I am a cat person, that is a cute dog. Does it shake? My mom has one like that and the little guy always has the shivers. We call it her vibrator dog :D

dareutwo 2007-01-09 09:26 PM

We have both from when we lived on the farm.

If it was just me, probably just a small dog. Not like the ones we have now. (Lab/German Shepard cross and Husky/German Shepard cross)
The cat never really causes any real trouble. Let it out in the morning, let it back in at night. I don't think it does anything in the house besides sleep.
For 14 years on the farm we had a Pomeranian. That dog was a trip, whipped the 2 bigger dogs everytime when they were pups. He was king of the house.

A Sheltie could be fun. And if I decide to ever get sheep, they're damn useful.

Just anything smaller than the cattle we have now.. :)

virgohippy 2007-01-09 11:01 PM

I'm with you two Bill & Ponygirl. Almost all cats are worthy my adoration. Just like my lovers, I appreciate beings who are able to care for themselves - though biting and scratching with sharp claws is nice too. ;)

But the only dogs I have significant appreciation for are the big working/herding breeds because I can relate to em. I don't understand the show and retriever types and the fighting breeds scare me. |shocking|

Maj. Stress 2007-01-09 11:19 PM

Cats of course. I have 3 of them. I like dogs too, they are just to dependant. Cats do their own thing. :)

Do you feed your cats?
I'd call that a dependency. |couch|

SirMoby 2007-01-09 11:47 PM

I love petting Cleo because she purrs so nicely but I can't afford to feed Useless Warrior.

I like both cats and dogs but when I want to throw a stick or make an animal do stupid tricks a dog comes in handy.

That's the only time they acknowledge my existence. :D
Of course they are for the most part outdoor cats since it's warm in this part of the world most of the time and they are pretty good at catching birds and other varmits.

SheepGuy 2007-01-10 12:57 AM

I prefer dogs.
Dog's dogs, the dogs other dogs don't make fun of, but are still friendly, Golden Labs, English Sheepdogs, Irish Setters.
Big smelly loyal dogs you don't have to knit sweaters for :D . Dogs with a job, watchdogs, herders, hunters, seeing eye dogs.
I like Emmy's dog though, even though he's a little vertically challenged ;) But I think I would have named him "Fang" :)

Cats are evil evil evil.

spookyx 2007-01-10 02:48 AM

j3sUS183 2007-01-10 02:55 AM

I prefer dogs.. but have 2 cats :D :D

Sarah_Jayne 2007-01-10 06:48 AM

I like both and have had both but I am really a dog person.

Jim 2007-01-10 07:20 AM

We have 6 dogs and 2 cats. I like all the dogs but one of the cats is an asshole :) So, I guess I am a dog person. Then again, the good cat leaves me alone. Unlike these needy damn dogs. Nothing like trying to sit down and watch TV with 3 or more dogs sleeping on me. :)

rachelo 2007-01-10 07:27 AM

We have one cat, (12 years old) good when it sleeps, otherwise a menace. Used to have Doberman a few years back, extremely intelligent and unlike most people believe very well behaved, well, I guess I miss her. Waiting for a German Shepard puppy, hopefully will arrive within the next few months. I like cats, but I think I love dogs, big dogs.

Fonz 2007-01-10 08:02 AM

We have 2 Airdale Terriers (obviously they're dogs) and I don't like them. They always run away and I have to go search for them with my car.
Last Saturday it took me 1.5 hours. I was supposed to meet some friends at 8.30pm but when I wanted to leave I noticed the dogs where gone. So with a 1.5 hours delay me and my friends finally could leave to the party we were invited to.
The next day the cops showed up on our door; apparently the doggies broke into someones back yard and killed 2 pet rabbits. :(

I think I'm more of a pussy person.

LOL she is also mentally challenged.. but I love her ... I was always a cat person, always had a cat no matter where I lived, that is until I got "Muffin" ... but then again, she thinks she is a cat anyway so I got the best of both worlds - a dog that thinks she is a cat. lol

kenny 2007-01-10 10:13 AM

none of the above :)

sue-fl 2007-01-10 11:28 AM

I was raised with German Shepherds and my husband and I have only had the same dogs. Not much fun cleaning up the backyard of elephant shit everyday and they make you have to exercise everyday as they need a lot of walking. But I love my dog |thumb

I don't have anything against cats but have never owend one.

From another site:

"CAT PEOPLE are introverted, self-conscious, secretive, sensitive. They tend to be interested in quieter pursuits like reading, watching movies and videos, music, etc. They are homebodies, or like to go to quiet places. They like their creature comforts and although they expect people to notice them, they tend not to boast, preferring to draw attention to themselves in less direct ways. They tend to have a small circle of close friends rather than a larger group.

DOG PEOPLE are extroverted, eager, unembarrassed, open. They tend to be interested in sport, adventuring, exploring and outdoor pursuits, and like to go out a lot. They tease and pick on each other in a friendly way, and like talking and boasting about their accomplishments. They have a large circle of friends and acquaintances and they make friends easily."

lol, he does shake every now & then. Usually when a new person approaches. It's not as often now as he is getting bigger.
Thank goodness. I don't like shaky nervous dogs.

True statement! hehe.

I like cats - we have 3

Lot 2007-01-13 07:50 PM

I'm more into cats. Dogs need to be walked out and washed after it, so i choose cats:)

Cleo 2007-01-13 10:49 PM

Four cats plus one blue and gold macaw who lives in a big aviary in my backyard.

My house has cats door so no litter box.

Macaw has automatic water system and I feed him every other day but he has plenty of food for about four days. Gets a big thing of walnuts in their shell in a metal thing that he spends hours working the walnuts free. Plus he has another metal thing that I put bananas in. Plus he gets fresh palm tree leave cuttings.

I love my cats. I fill up their food and water dispenser about once a week.

Cats are low maintenance and very affectionate.

Dogs are kewl but a lot more work.

Parrot is amusing and fun but if I bring him into the house he will destroy everything and make a giant mess.

I love all animals, probably has a lot to do with why I'm a vegetarian, and feed the wild animals and birds that live in my backyard each day as well.

MrYum 2007-01-14 12:12 AM

Definitely a dog person here |thumb

This little furball has been my buddy for the past 11 years :)

Einstein

Yea, he's got a rough life :D

I've got one of each, but I really dont care much for the cat, she is a really nice lovable cat. I just want to kill her sometimes with some of the dumb shit she does.

Now my dog, that is a whole different story. I got my little Sheltie "Lady" 2 months after I moved out of my mom and dad's house. I had her before I was even dating my wife. Lady is pretty much my shadow, when I work she is at my feet, when I take a shower she's in there waiting for me to get out, etc, etc.

here's a pic of Lady
