24 - Best show on television

I swear that two hours last night went by in a flash. I just LOVE this show so much. I have seen each season, and somehow it just keeps getting better and better. Every episode is like a feature movie. So well done, from the writing to the acting. And very nice to see that is receiving its well deserved recognition now. |thumb

Is there ever going to be a season where CSU doesn't have a terrorist working for them? I don't like the looks of Chloe’s new boyfriend. :)

And I saw this on the "24" board
"And how many times are we going to see one of the heroes in a car beat high-speed military helicopters to a target? Are the helicopters held to the same 45 mph speed limit?"

JustRobert 2007-01-15 10:18 AM

The country is in a panick due to bombings so lets hit a residential neighborhood with an air strike. Even the wife was a little annoyed by that one, but she still loves it.

Jim 2007-01-15 10:27 AM

Your wife wasn't the only one annoyed. You should check out the "24" board. You have to be a hard core fan to sign up to any television show board and it seems that not a lot of those people were thrilled by the inconstancies. And then you have the drudgereport giving out a spoiler for tonight (kind of) :) As if you couldn't figure out what was going to happen tonight from the kid with the "package" to the previews.

My wife hates the show so I made a deal with her about 5 months ago which included her having to watch 24 with me. I tried to pretend that I was loving it but, I just had to say at the end, "that just sucked". And I even let her off the hook. :)

I totally agree with you on Chloe's boyfriend. Don't like him at all. However there is no indication now that CTU has an terrorist infiltrator this season. Who do you think is?

And yeah.....there are some corny scenes like with the helicopters, but for the sake of building up some drama, everything cannot be true to life. I can overlook things like that, since I know they do work very hard to make things as realistic as possible.

It's also true that you have to pretty much enjoy whining to sign up to a television show board. Negative people like their voices to be heard the loudest. I'm sure that 99.9% of the 30 million people who enjoy the show, would not hang out at the shows message board. |jester|

JustRobert 2007-01-15 11:05 AM

I agree with you Lorsha that you have to build up drama and that it gets a bit over the top to do it.

Either way, the wife and I will be watching it again tonight. Gotta get past the beginning set up shows for the season. Always gets better once they get past the first shows which may be why they put 4 hours on you up front so they can get into the good stuff. At least thats what we are hoping for.

Jim 2007-01-15 11:09 AM

Oh, I will be watching the show too. Got to see the nuclear explosions :)

Chloe's boyfriend is a terroist, I suspect :)

Simon 2007-01-15 11:39 AM

I think this is the season that we learn that a terrorist isn't always the one who looks like a terrorist. I think Chloe's guy looks too much like a terrorist to be one this time (though maybe he did some work for some of them in the past).

On the helicopters, I just suspended disbelief by imagining they were coming from much farther away than Jack's starting point.

I liked the opening premise of being tortured by one group for nearly two years, finally freed by your own people, then being told you were freed so they could turn you over to someone else who'll be torturing you from now on. And the 'wrong terrorist' twist was a good idea too I thought.

Yeah, I'll be watching tonight too.

But the right terrorist must have never seen a Batman and Robin episode. You never tell the plan to someone no matter how much you think they are about to die :)

bluemoney 2007-01-15 02:14 PM

I tend to agree with Simon about Chloe’s boyfriend, it’s that skinny fuck with the Wayne Newton mustache that I don’t trust.

Jim 2007-01-15 02:34 PM

You guys are probably right. And, it would be good to go through one season without someone bad on the inside. :)

stuveltje 2007-01-15 03:02 PM

mmm stu<--- wondre if thats the "24" series with keifer sutherland you guys are talking about?

What the hell was that? If you were Jack, what would you be thinking?
You got me out just to give me to someone else to get beat for a
whole different reason. Jack's going postal this season.

Lets see what tonight brings

Bingo! Yes Stu, that's the 24 that's being talked about. :)

bluemoney 2007-01-15 09:34 PM

I loved it when Chloe said to Jack “I never thought I would hear your voice again”.
Ya think so? He’s only been presumed dead . . . oh 5 or 6 times before.

ah oke, that serie we have here on telly too, i never have seen it, i only know it is on telly twice a week:)

Jim 2007-01-16 07:22 AM

Well, last night didn't fail to live up to the hype :) Unlike most things, the drudge report got it right.

I can't believe they are offering the last 4 hours on DVD with a sneak preview of next week. So, if anyone missed the first 4 hours, they are available on DVD today :) I wonder if they are going to do that after every 4 hours. If not, who the hell wants only the first 4 hours of a season?

Fonz 2007-01-16 08:10 AM

Hmmm... I think I'll start watching season 3 this weekend. Seems I got some catching up to do :)

lorsha 2007-01-16 08:34 AM

Last night was great. Was nice to have Jack show some vulnerability at the end. Poor guy always has a "tad" too much on his plate. |jester|

Going to be a great season!

SheepGuy 2007-01-16 01:03 PM

My traffic dipped a noticeable amount between 8 and 10, I'm wondering if this "24" is good or not ;)

Jim 2007-01-16 01:28 PM

With the ratings that the Golden Globes and 24 got last night, I'm surprised anyone was online.

JustRobert 2007-01-16 03:13 PM

Lost my internet connection for 24 hours. New modem and a couple lines and its better than it has been for a year. The only good news was that it went down before I went to the drudge report. So I did not expect the bomb to go off last night. I just expected them to stop it just in time but find out there is more.

Now its time to see how they portray us in Los Angeles during this. Pretty much a Rodney King type verdict should cover. People looting stores though their face is falling off, gangs shooting everybody, car fires, mayhem, etc...

As Randy Newman put it, "I Love L.A."

LOL

mOrrI 2007-01-17 07:46 AM

I like Prison Break more that 24.... :)

ah prison break....now i also remember again why i dont watch series like prison break, 24, 4400 and a ton of other series, those series can go on and on and then here in holland they decide to stop showing the series for say 3 months and after 3 months they come back on telly again and i knowi will foget they are back on telly and miss alot, so that is the reason why i dont follow those long term series on telly|shocking|

Yeah... that sucks....
Same thing in my Country...
And then they repeat and repeat older series....

in the end u don't know what you have seen and were you are in the series... :S

Jim 2007-01-17 08:38 AM

I just saw a couple of good arguments on a couple of liberal news shows calling 24 just a republican propaganda machine. It made sense if it was true to have it be the headline on drudge for a full day and night. And, Jack does show that torture works everytime. Transparent Brainwashing is what they are calling it.

Foolish me...I just looked at it as a fiction. But who knows??? It has been hailed as a great show by the most conservative of conservatives.

JustRobert 2007-01-17 03:32 PM

Ya know, that kinda makes sense Jim. Even if we in LA were attacked by terrorists it still wouldn't change my mind that the shrubbery in office has got to go.

I am personally surprised we here haven not had a couple of suicide bombers. Maybe the bad guys are afraid to attack liberals for they may go republican. LOL

Jim 2007-01-23 07:15 AM

My wife got out of our deal of her watching it each week with me. She watched Keith Olbermann spout off about how 24 is just Republican Propaganda and if I wanted to watch it, I should be ashamed :)

So, I let her off the hook. :)

lorsha 2007-01-23 07:26 AM

Doesn't anyone just watch tv for pure "entertainment" anymore .......

Politics .... schmolitics.......

Jim 2007-01-23 07:48 AM

I do lorsha :)
Sometimes I hate the extreme left as much as the extreme right.

But, this didn't help my cause :)

“24″ is taken seriously by some serious folks. Last June the conservative Heritage Foundation hosted a panel called, “‘24′ and America’s Image in Fighting Terrorism: Fact, Fiction or Does It Matter?” Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff participated.

no kidding. Just a TV show for some entertainment. Some great entertainment in my book too.

Last nights episode rocked.

"Not after this." |jester|

People like Ramster, who were in Vegas & fucked up programming their new TiVo & ended up with 4 hours of American Idol instead :D

CSU, CTU, who cares what the made up acronym is? :) I am willing to take any and all wagers that there is someone on the inside working for the terrorists.

And don't tell me...when you say Ramster, you really mean yourself, don't you? :)

No - I did have all 4 hours on my TiVo up in the bedroom, but when Ramster asked me to order the DVD for him (they won't ship to Canada) I thought I might as well watch it on the big TV in wide screen :D

I'm too spoiled with Fox's HD when it comes to chose like this.

I wish they would just end this show. It would have been an epic show had they just made it one season. Powered through or maybe a season and half. Show the escape. Names are cleared, etc. Now it's just being dragged around the block and it's starting to not look so good.

Cheers,
B

Ahh 24, I love that show. Granted it's a bit (sic) over the top but you just have to go with the flow..
