A judge sentenced Paris Hilton to 45 days in jail Friday for violating her probation, putting the brakes on the hotel heiress's famous high life.

As a city prosecutor said during closing arguments that Hilton deserved jail time, Hilton's mother, Kathy, laughed. When the judge ruled, Kathy Hilton then blurted out: "May I have your autograph?"

According to reports from the Associated Press and the L.A. Times:

• Paris will be serving the time in the county jail - no hotel for her
• Paris showed up for court 15 minutes late
• Paris claimed "she didn't know her license was suspended"
• Paris asserted she signs anything she's given. She's too busy to read anything
• Her lawyers claim they will collect more of her money filing a pointless appeal

For some reason I've found myself paying more attention to this story than most. I guess it just seems like she's flaunting who she is so much ... she deserves the time more than most people.

Out because of a medical condition. What the hell kind of medical condition lets you out of jail and not into a hospital?

Actually with the over-crowding in the LA county jails most inmates do less than 10% of their sentence. She wasn't given special treatment on her release.

Damn while I hate to stand up for her, she really isn't doing much different than I did at her age except I didn't have rich parents so I couldn't be an international pain in the ass.

Besides, I don't think 3 days in a county jail would have much of an impact on anyone.

Thats just the excuse, the sheriffs dept really doesnt want to say she was released because of the over-crowding in the county jail system and everybody only does a small percentage of time.

It has got to help to have a Psychiatrist visit and let the Sheriff know that she is just too fragile. :)

The fact that she is out after 3 days is the most ridiculous thing Ive ever heard. If this was a poor kid from harlem he would've been in there for the full time & treated like crap.

Prison overcrowding is a big problem here too.

Not surprising when they jail people for non payment of local taxes/fines etc and give people who steal and various violent crimes community service.

Thing is, give any celeb a days hard work and they're fucked from the start as i doubt paris hilton or any other waste of space like her would know what real work is.

I'd have the bitch scrubbing floors and toilets as that would teach her a real lesson.

They should have sent her to the Tent City Jail when Sheriff Joe Arpaio offered it to LA. :)

It's a shame they don't use that tent city idea here as i bet the 90% re-offending rate would drop by a huge amount.

I don't get why this is such important news |huh I turned the tv on late last night to catch some news which there was none as every station was about her |huh

The crime she commited is non violent and jail over crowding is why she got out. People are acting like she murdered someone or something. Now they want to put her back in? All this is going to do is put a few more million dollars in the Hilton's pocket which they don't need! |angry|

George michael has just got a 2 year driving ban and 100hrs community service for driving whilst drugged.

I reckon giving paris hilton a community service order doing a menial job chained to a kitchen sink like all women should be would hurt more than a jail sentence.

I think it is important news because we get to see how the rich are treated so much differently than the rest of us. For myself, I just check TMZ once in a while for Greenie :)

What blows my mind is them letting her out knowing full well the potential of a very angry public for apparent preferential treatment. It's asinine. She's asinine. The whole system is asinine! I wish a large group like MADD would call for a boycott of Hilton hotels.

Back to jail for the original 45 day sentence crying for her Moms while being pulled out of court.
