Good Saturday Morning

Good Morning
I hope everyone is going to enjoy their long Memorial Day Weekend :) It seems like a ghost town around here...just the way I like it.

Morning all. 3 1/2 weeks on the Atkins diet and I've only lost 5 pounds and lost 1 1/2 inches around my waist. |cry| I walk two miles every day and some times another two in the afternoon with some crunches thrown in. Guess I'll have to double up on the exercise. |goodidea This bod will be prime real estate if it kills me. Gonna fire up the charcoal grill this afternoon and grill some zucchini, squash, red, yellow and orange bell peppers, portabella shrooms, green beans and red onion slices. Looks like a veggie day here. Yum!

Up way too early again...

Looks like I do need to return this 30" LCD after all as parts of it aren't being lit properly so that is on today's to do list. Other then that just a day of work planned.

Toby 2007-05-26 08:56 AM

Mornin' y'all,

Just a few things to take care of this morning, then it's couch potato time for the next couple of days.

|coffee is on, help yourself...

Good morning peeps...

Sorry to hear that Cleo, I mentioned earlier that I got a used LG 20" wide screen LCD monitor for my birthday from someone who has lots of pc stuff and it works great. Its price when new is about $250 in the pc shops.

I love this 30" display but one of the backlight lamps seems to be failing. It works fine after it warms up after being asleep all night but the first 20 minutes after it wakes up one of the florescent tubes sometimes flickers on and off. It's under warranty so I'm going to lug this monster over to the Apple store today and get another one while it is still under warranty.

Ramster 2007-05-26 09:19 AM

Good Morning.

Not much happening here. Have a good one.

Good luck hon, the warranty will help you.. it still made me amaze it can have problems, the good thing is it is producing these symptoms in time. My mac mini, the cheapest 2005 model made in China started freaking me out lately, it is giving terrible sounds like some raptor or a T-Rex, no idea what's this. I always turn them off for the time I spend in bed or when a tornado or summer stom is coming. I could use more memory (and the mini mac too lol) and an external disk but touch wood... it is ok so far, except the voices. |angry|

Cleo 2007-05-26 09:26 AM

I've seen many displays over the years have their florescent tubes go bad. I even replaced them myself on a laptop that I had many years ago. It's rumored that Apple is working on LCDs that use LEDS for backlights instead of florescent tubes just for this reason.

Sounds like the fan in your Mac mini is going bad. Very easy to replace and cheap too but you do want to replace it before it stops working all together and you Mac mini overheats.

So is it the fan? It is very loud at times.. you are a gem, thanks a million. The funny thing is that there is a tiny software, iFreeMem, $8 see http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/24279 and I when I am running it, the voices stop talking to me :D

Extra virgin olive oil, salt and pepper on all the veggies. Grill the veggies and when done make this sauce:

1 head of garlic, roasted
1/4 cup sherry vinegar
3 tablespoons minced fresh basil leaves
2 tablespoons minced fresh parsley leaves
1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme leaves
(I'll probably throw in some minced garlic too)
Freshly grated Parmesan

In the bottom of a large bowl, mash the roasted garlic and 2 tablespoons of olive oil to make a paste. Add 1 teaspoon salt and 1 teaspoon pepper, add the vinegar and whisk to combine. Add the herbs and pour over the vegetables. Sprinkly on the grated cheese.

(This is one of Emeril Lagasse's recipes and I take no credit for authoring it)

Digifan the fan is pretty easy to replace.

Morning...

One thing i forgot to mention.. If you go see Pirates.. make sure you stay to the end of the credits ala XMen3.. We didn't the 1st time but did yesterday and it really helped. of course that is after i simmered down from the 3 yr old that was running up and down the aisle in front of us. Who takes their 1, 2 and 3 yr old children to an adult movie without giving them a zanex before hand??

Lots of running today and I think we are having Orange Chicken tonight.

Cheers.. and Happy birthday party to MML's 2nd man grandchild. |bananna|

For those who are thinking of driving... Beeeee Careful

The masses are in town for Memorial Day weekend which means that the streets and stores are jammed-packed with tourists. I'll be hiding out and working this weekend. |couch|

SheepGuy 2007-05-26 01:47 PM

Hungover big time today|banghead| My Newfie buddies are bad influences. Last thing I remember is turning down an Argonaut cheerleader who offered to take me parking |boobies| Must have had a sudden attack of conscience or something but at least I'm not in deep shit with the wife and I don't have to avoid her husband ;)
I envy you swingers out there :D

bluebrit 2007-05-26 02:32 PM

Worked till silly oclock this morning and just fell out of bed about an hour ago. I need to config my internal clock to work longer during the day and sleep at night. We went to see the new pirates film last night as well. The theatre was rammed full of sweaty bodies, the heat was on and we were sitting way to close to the screen for comfort in the only row with any space left. Other than that the films good but you need to pay attention as a lots happening, which is kinda hard when your only 20 ft off the screen. Hope you guys in the states have a good weekend, i'm off for a shower before adding more freesites |thumb

Cleo 2007-05-26 03:08 PM

Lugged my 30" display over to the Apple store and they exchanged it for a new one without any problems. They even carried it out to my car again. Odd how it just fits in the back of the Vette as if it was made to fit there.

Trouble is I'm like a big kid in candy store every time I go in there and ended up buying a silicone keyboard protector for my 17" Macbook Pro, hopefully it will keep the espresso out of it next time I spill it, and a blue iPod nano for Christine, her choice of color not mine, that I'm giving her for an early B-Day present when she gets back home tonight.

Guess I should get some work done now... |potleaf|

Make sure you fill it up with church music before you give it to her so she can listen while in Mass. |headbang|

Nope, just another place that derives like 80% of it's income from tourists and the other favorite haven of those from Bakersfield. :(
