So why does he float?

How can John make thing appear in his empty pockets?

Useless 2007-06-11 09:40 AM

John From Cincinatti
JFC
Jesus Fucking Christ

Jim 2007-06-11 10:07 AM

The End is Near
I liked John From Cincinnati. Besides some of the same people from Deadwood, I saw a lot of similarities.

Ramster 2007-06-11 12:49 PM

Weird show. Kind of cool I think.

docholly 2007-06-11 06:03 PM

I liked it.. not yet as addicting as Carnivale or Deadwood or Sopranos..

...

....yet. |loony|

It's filmed in San Diego. Old roommates mom stayed right by where they were filming it in Imperial Beach. When they met up for dinner downtown they were talking all about it. Tivo'd it. Can't wait to watch it.

Jim 2007-06-11 10:06 PM

Episode 2 is on InDemand. I was just going to post a spoiler but decided against it :)

bDok 2007-06-12 11:35 AM

Watched the first half of the first show last night. I like it. Lady got tired so had to turn it off. Going to finish it up tonight. Did watch the new episode of Big Love though. Good stuff. :)

Jim 2007-06-12 12:40 PM

The second episode of John, sucked my wife and I in. It was good to see Charlie Utter again :)

Biglove was good but I just don't care for it as much as the rest.

bDok 2007-06-14 11:29 AM

Watched 2nd one on Indemand last night. Good stuff. Couldn't wait. Had there been more available I think I could have watched at least 3-4 of them straight. Good stuff.

I did that with Showtime's Splinter Cell. For some reason the spit out the whole season on indemand before the series even started. I watched it in a day :)

Torn Rose 2007-06-15 10:51 PM

We just watched 1 and 2... weird...

SheepGuy 2007-06-16 12:58 AM

Just finished watching the first one. Wicked! I'll watch both episodes with the old girl tomorrow.

Jim 2007-06-16 09:42 AM

I wish everyone would hurry up and see the 2nd episode. I can't help but wonder if it's the bird, Bill or Shawn. :)

SheepGuy 2007-06-17 12:10 AM

Just watched the 2nd episode and I think John is John the Baptist, either that or some kind of Angel since he doesn't shit or eat, and Sean is JC reincarnated since he is 13 years old, same age as the original when he started wowing the teachers in the temple and shows little interest in groupies. Taoism is involved somehow as well.
I can't figure out why Sean's gramp levitates though, or WTF that bird has to do with anything, or Al Bundy for that matter ;)
I really like this show!

Jim 2007-06-17 07:36 AM

Easy SheepGuy :) There are still people on episode 1. :)

Greenguy 2007-06-17 09:27 AM

I was gonna watch it yesterday, but then I realized why I had been putting it off - and it's not that The Bitch is away, it's the HD angle.

I want to watch it in High Def!

(but I did watch the 3 or 4 little things that OnDemand had in there about the show)

Jim 2007-06-18 12:46 PM

It looks like we, who watched episode 2 on indemand got screwed :) I don't see episode 3 yet.

Greenguy 2007-06-19 05:40 PM

So the bird is the key? |couch|

I like the unique aspect but with the perfect surf waves and some of the perfect timing scenarios it was way too cheesy.

Yea I for sure will say there is a little cheese to it. Right now though for the first two episodes I've been pretty into it. Also, seems like it has some places to go so I'll ride along for awhile. |thumb

Thanks for all the people here who are nice and friendly...

Thank you so much. |bow|

LeRoy 2007-06-27 06:06 PM

I liked it too

A lot of good actors. Some drug content to make it interesting. The guy from Deadwood. I was waiting for him to say f%&$k every scene he was in.

Torn Rose 2007-06-27 06:30 PM

This show went from interesting to LAME real quick.

Let's see, he broke his neck and was brain dead, so gramps leaves since he is all broken hearted, gramps is then told the kid is ok, so the first thing he does is sits down and then leaves without actually seeing with his own eyes that the kid is ok....

I am pretty sure if I was told anyone in my family was brain dead to ok in a few minutes time I would be emotional, but not one person showed emotion until granny gets pissed off since he wants to get on the half pike?????

yeah....

uh huh......

SheepGuy 2007-06-27 07:54 PM

Yup, the last episode sucked. I might watch the next one, but I might change the cotton in my aspirin bottle instead. |yawn|

Torn Rose 2007-07-02 08:49 PM

Anyone given up on this yet?

We are sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo close to having our fill.

SheepGuy 2007-07-02 09:12 PM

Haven't seen episode 4 yet, but if it sucks I won't bother with it anymore. Too bad, the first two shows had me hooked.

bDok 2007-07-10 10:00 PM

i'm still in. 3 was weak. See where it gets taken though. I'm one to ride things out for a season. Makes it easier since it's ondemand too. If it was the older days and I HAD to be in front of the box at a certain time to see it, it might get the axe a lot sooner.

Jim 2007-07-11 07:48 AM

We still like it a lot. We are also enjoying Showtime's Meadowlands. Kind of a weird show but if you haven't watched it, you should check it out.

terry 2007-07-11 08:02 AM

I never heard of it???

Simon 2007-07-11 08:14 AM

I'm not sure why I like it yet, but I do. I know this because I don't like having to wait a week between new episodes. I wish JFC was in it's second season already, and that I'd missed the first season so I could just order the DVDs to catch up.

I tried the first episode of Meadowlands, but the accents made the dialogue too hard to follow for my interest level that night.

I don't get showtime. :( I'll catch it on DVD though. Still need to watch that weeds show that I have heard is good. Going to add that to the netflix queue.

Cheers,
Be

I'm going out on a limb her. I like the show and it's quirky type or or just plain weird story. It has all the pieces I like in a show ex pornstar, town slut and a hot milf. There are some things that do throw me off a bit though. Why does the guy float? Is there something that John is creating.
I did read the credits and noticed that the contributing writers are surfers. One is the editor of Surfing Magazine. The other is Herbie Fletcher he is a well known legend from San Clemente. I guess that is why I am supporting the show. Besides I hate reality TV. Oh except for "Deadliest Catch" that show is cool.

The story is magical and wonderful, even for heathens like ourselves. I'm so deeply hooked, I believe I may have swallowed both the worm and the sinker.

It's not a typical tv storyline with an easily digested plot. Not all of the dots are connected, which is what makes great cinema and great television. It's slightly more cerebral, which is probably why we sit here enjoying it, but then wonder why we enjoyed it so much.

oldbrad 2007-07-17 02:33 AM

Luckily for me i failed to watch it until just last week when i watched one on demand. Then watched the other 3 and the fifth yesterday.

The storyline is strange enough to keep my attention while spouting the swear words and the conversations that take a little "smarts" to follow. I really enjoy it for the same reasons as earlier Kevin Smith movies.

I did the same thing with Deadwood, only to end up watching all the episodes over a 2 days period a few months back.

Brad
