Adult Trade Show In FL?

Isn't there a trade show in Hollywood, FL this fall? Where can I get info on it? I might be able to make it.

I wouldn't know, never been to any of them but Hollywood, FL is 7-8 hrs. drive from here....I think.

Greenguy 2007-06-26 10:09 AM

Sorry - it's an ongoing joke around here with AVN & the uselessness of their shows.

If it's useless that's good to know. I would like to attend one of the shows some time but Vegas is too far |cry|

Jim 2007-06-26 10:57 AM

Oh yeah...it's not in the Fall. It is during the hottest time in the summer. (Early August)

I am waiting until the change the Vegas Winter show to an Alaskan venue. :)

Cleo 2007-06-26 10:57 AM

I haven't been to the Florida one in years, I'm really bored with the shows, but maybe I'll go this year since it is only a few miles from my home.

Or maybe we will get another hurricane right as the show starts...

Casa Nova 2007-06-26 05:20 PM

I plan on going to Internext. I can't make it out to Xbiz I still wont be 21 at that time, so it would be pointless as I may not be able to get into some venues. Jstyles will be going to promote TCS.

Internext would be my first big show. I can't wait.

You realize you can get a ticket to Vegas for less then $350 which is the cost of the badge in Miami right? I bet if you look into it enough, Vegas will be the cheaper show.

Greenguy 2007-06-26 06:09 PM

I think I figured it would be $3k to go to Miami for The Bitch & me - air fare, hotel & badge.

Vegas is gonna cost us roughly $1600 for the same....that is, if I was paying for my badge (speaker) or my room (gambling) - lol

pussyluver 2007-06-26 06:23 PM

Vegas is prolly more fun???

There is prolly away to do Miami on the cheap. Drive and stay at a cheap motel. The $350 bage price sucks. It was $250 when I went last. A road trip can be tons of fun. Just depends on the weather for touring FL. I often note that it is cooler in Key West than up here in the midwest come August. If I went as far as Miami, why not head down to the keys?

Greenguy 2007-06-26 06:26 PM

Don't you have to stay at their hotel in Miami?

I didn't, picked a cheaper place. Not a high roller here. Had a great time anyway was just a couple of miles away. Some of the events were off site anyway....

Not for Linkster who lives just west of 'Bama.. he's driven out 2 or 3 times a year for the past few years. Including this past January in a horrible snow/ice storm that closed down I-40 .. just to surprise all of us once again!!

Linkster is my Hero!! |thumb

Hmmm, I'm not laughing. But I might be a bit biased. I think any gathering of adult webmasters, and the industry in general has some value, somewhere. If, at even it's basest level, it says "here we are, openly discussing this thing you would have eliminated, if you could."

No hotels are very close to the show hotel, maybe Holiday Inn but that's it. But the problem is it is soooooooo hot that a 5-10 minute to the show hotel and you are a ball of sweat. So that's the thing, you really need to stay at the show hotel. Then there's the badge and the ridiculas cost of food and drinks while there.

Very true. I usually treat shows as a vacation and meet up with my friends from the industry I deal with on a somewhat daily basis. That is where the value comes in.

However AVN has been bad in it's treatment of "webmasters". When shows first started and I was $1000-3000 a month I could afford to attend a show. Now webmasters making that cannot, it is just too expensive and I think that is where the beef comes in regarding AVN. Inflating badge costs from $100 to $250-300 doesn't help neither.

I don't want to get into it again - there's 3 or 4 radio shows from the end of 2005 & beginning of 2006 as well as numerous threads where we discuss the mess that is Miami is August & how we're an afterthought in Vegas in January.

I have been to Internext in Miami 04 and 05 and 06. I don't think I will make 07.

The Las Vegas XBiz show is mid-week, so hotel prices and airfares are low. It is going to be fuck awful hot for all of you that are not used to desert heat [its a dry heat!! but you cook turkey in dry heat -- 105 is still fucking hot]
but I really like XBiz for its casual, business friendly atmosphere. And its low cost relative to other shows.

I may be jumping the gun a bit but FanTC and I have been planning the Southern Webmaster Gathering to be held in re-built Gulfport, MS. Badge cost? Nothing, maybe a handshake and a smile. :D Won't be any big name speakers (unless a big name shows up and wants to be in the spotlight for a while), but a weekend of networking and meeting others we know from the board or from the industry. Maybe a half day at one of the islands in the gulf with ice chests full of beer checking out the local beach bunny population. |boobies| Maybe a meal at Emeril Lagasse's brand new restaurant or one of the many great restaurants in the casino's. (If MML were to show up the oysters will be on FanTC and I)Just a weekend of sharing war stories, tips, ideas, stratagies and any other things we're all interested in. Mainly meeting each other face to face that we interract with either as submitters or link list owners. Anyone wanting to sponsor or help sponsor a night of cocktails |party can get in touch with FanTC or myself. |pimpin W're also interested in finding out who all would like to get together. We're thinking some weekend in Sept.

jscott 2007-07-01 09:25 AM

I'm hitting Miami Internext, but I'm not going for any biz really, I usually dont like how basically everyone is there spamming themselves and their programs in person

almost EVERYTHING is spammed, the badges, the booths, the people etc etc etc etc

So this time I WILL GO to Miami with the intention of hitting the beach, having some drinks with some webmaster friends, exchanging a little contact info, etc :)

That's what we are trying to get a feel for. If we have an idea of what kind of turnout we can expect, we can better arrange things.

For anyone that doesn't realize, we have much of what vegas has, but different in many respects. 13 world class casinos open and rolling, 26 miles of public beach, some of the finest food anywhere, great fishing, boating, plenty of action 24/7, an hour from New Orleans, and more. Not to mention the area would love to have you here to help in the recovery of the area Katrina beat so badly in 2005.

I know a new airline just opened routes from Gulfport to Orlando and Gulfport to Vegas with 89 dollar rates and hotels have always been fair priced... Days inn and such range from 39 dollars or so up to suites at the Beau Rivage going for upwards of 5k a night.

I'm currently in the process of building roughly 30 sites promoting the area, so if anyone would like details or info, just hit me up. Also anybody that might like to come, just post or PM Licker or myself so we can get a more solid idea of what we are looking at and make more concrete plans.

chadknowslaw 2007-07-01 12:19 PM

I think I am going to the Amsterdam show the last weekend in September. Other than that, I would be honored to attend. I could even put on a Legal for Noobs seminar or something.

Well damn, there's our surprise guest speaker!

FanTC 2007-07-01 12:27 PM

Hot damn that would rock... correction on the dates... sometime in Sept that doesn't conflict with chads schedule... so the first 3 weeks are open...

chadknowslaw 2007-07-01 12:28 PM

shit dont make it about me~

I am not like other lawyers that have to have their ego stroked on a daily basis. I like other parts stroked~

Maj. Stress 2007-07-01 12:33 PM

Ms in Sept sounds like fun to me. Count me in. :)

If it is so much like Vegas, I am sure there are such services available :-)

docholly 2007-07-01 05:35 PM

FanTC.. get in touch with Gonzo (maybe that will set off boardtracker) he's in Atlanta ..not that far.. and there is a fairly large group of adult wm and some camhoes still left there.. I'm sure they would all love an excuse to get to the Gulf. I know Chop and Linkster have kicked this idea around too.. and Spiffy is in Baton Rouge.. that should make for a nice turnout.

Also.. the 30 sites you are building .. are they mainstream?? If so I might be interested in purchasing small ad space on them. Let me know when they are viewable.

FanTC 2007-07-01 05:53 PM

good damn thinking doc! I've hit several up in PM and Licker is doing the same. I think Licker got gonzo. I got chop and linkster and spiff, so you are in my head.

The coast sites are 100% mainstream. After the storm, while in Mo, I thought to myself " Shits coming back, no doubt, casinos, restaurants, golf courses tourism etc etc" and I went on a buying binge for a bunch of related sites. Been a booger trying to build em all and juggle everything else, but eventually they'll get there. I'll hit ya up when they are closer for sure.

LowryBigwood 2007-07-03 01:07 PM

Settle on a date and I will do my best to make it down to the ms gulfcoast. :)
